The separate reality or multiverse of SCP is honestly the best way to go about reconciling the different canons as the one true canon of the franchise. All canons then become valid, and I personally refer to the original series (Series I) as the "prime reality" from which all other realities branch out of. There are of course other SCPs from later series that take place within the prime reality, but this in my opinion is the best way to think of how the SCP universe functions; how the stories of characters paralel each other.
Edit: That way, whenever someone comes across events that differ from the first time they read about them, they can either chalk it up to the realization that the story they're reading is just taking place in a different reality, or the SCP entry is just a deception tactic made by the Foundation to throw off snoopers, as they've done that before.

And yes. SCP 4000, the forest you were talking about, is indeed connected to this. SCP-4000 Is the remnant of the lands of the Fair Folk. You need to react to a LOT of SCPs to get the full picture of everything DJ Kaktus has made. I figure after today, you will start to see a lot of them in the request pouring in.

@@Meanslicer43 no joke, I had really considered if I had to add the Class of 76, but ultimately decided that it had no yet-currently important role in the Kaktusverse or significance appearance.
But I had added SCP-5935 as a Standalone SCP. Don't know if it's also important to add SCP-4008 "Wormwood" or having him react to Exploring the SCP Foundation: More Daevite SCPs, to have knowledge of SCP-4008.

One thing about the Kaktusverse you have to know is that it works quite similar to 40K Lore. Everything you read/hear is basically only the viewpoint of someone of how events took place and together they create a cohesive picture.
Is he the Hanged King? No, but Alegada exists. Adam El Asem is a big figure in the Kactusverse, and it seems like he's going to be revealed at some point. Kactusverse incorporates pretty much all of the big names into its own contexts. Anything you learn about certain scps and organizations in the kactusverse should be disregarded beyond it. Kactusverse is telling its own self-contained story. Also, as far as I am aware, the beginning of the Kactusverse is the Oroboros Cycle. Exploring Series has several parts for that.
He is certainly not the Hanged King, but is much older and stronger. But currently locked up in Foundations.

This SCP is somewhat connected to the Forest with no names, in that Fae of that forest are basically refugees from their war with Children of the Night, the one interrupted by Sky Kings, I highly recommend 4812 Wrath for more info

He made the Scarlet King and other low elder gods fear and pay tribute to him and ancient humanity. A feat more impressive then the Chaos Gods.
