Love this video💯 the fact that I read most of these books and you defined each method accurately as possible makes me happy. A lot of beginning actors don’t know what it means to be a “method actor”.
I appreciate the comment. I have pulled from many sources and tried to sum it up, but I know I probably got a bit of it wrong. So it's nice to get some validation.
Hi 👋 “ long time no see” 🌻 I hope you and your loved ones are doing well and I hope your 2022 have started the way you wanted too ❤️ Take care ✨ Hugs Grace xx
Hello Doug, I must say you are FAB-U-LOUS and FANTASTIC!!! I have to agree with one of your commenters below, I have read most of these books and you have defined each method in a Totally understanding way. I AM MOST HAPPY. I am a beginner/ beginning actor and you have clarified all of this this in one swoop. I have binged watched several of your video today alone. I have subscribed to all your social media that I could find. I'm currently enrolled in an acting class (main focus is on tv, film & commercials) but like you I'm into theatre as well. Do you offer being a PRIVATE COACH? I would have no hesitation in paying you. I believe/ know I would/ could, will/ can learn so much from you that I WOULD JUST CRY if I couldn't. Cant wait to hear from you.
Wow, well thanks so much for the high praise. I'm glad you're getting something out of my videos. It's good to hear. I've been a little slow getting new videos out the past few months, so this will help motivate me to push through. To answer your question, I have done a little coaching in the past, but these days I have very limited free time to do that sort of thing. Some times people send me short films or audition tapes and ask me to give them feedback and I try to help out when I can. But I don't do coaching regularly. I look forward to seeing you in the various social channels!
I hear that. If it’s lost it’s magic, then it may be time to take a break or seek out more challenging roles. There’s no shame in exploring other facets of life for a while. I haven’t really properly acted in anything for two years now and part of me is jonesing to start again while the other part of me is enjoying not having to act. I’ll mull that idea over for a future video.
Hey you know I had never heard of this technique. I looked it up and it does appear to be a newer technique. Without having studied it, I can’t say how much it’s based on the method but it seems to draw from many of the same principals but focuses largely on using emotions as a tool for accomplishing the objectives of a character rather than a result of events that happen to the character which is an interesting way of thinking about emotions in acting. I appreciate you bringing the technique to my attention.
Thanks for the clarification. I have read both her books. She discusses both substitution and transference in her exercises. You’re right that she leans heavily toward transference and perhaps I misspoke in my explanation a bit. But even Uta Hagen changed her techniques from one book to the next.

Hey, could you possibly make a video on how to deal with burn out because I think I’m going through it now
Burn out from too much acting or burnout from not getting enough work?
@@AugmentedActor burnout for too much acting. It just doesn’t feel like it used to, and I just don’t feel like acting at times

How about the chubbuck technique is that a method? Thanks

@@AugmentedActor you welcome and thank you for inspiring me to become an actor
Uta Hagen is not about substitution. It’s about transference. You should read her book before explaining.
