Thanks for the video as I am needing new camshaft bearings on a new engine build. On my existing engine, I did not install my own camshaft bearings, but when I was test fitting the camshaft I felt that I had too much drag, even with oil. My bearings also showed those shiny spots. I used Scotchbrite pads instead of sandpaper, the light grey (800 grit) and the green (600 grit), mostly with oil. I was quite nervous about doing this, worked slowly, but it when done the camshaft spun freely. Some care needs to be taken to work the entire circumference of the bearing.

Hey Alex. I've got a '60 MGA with a 18GH engine swap. Glad I found your channel. These videos are really informative, detailed, and interesting.

Hi, just for info, emery paper, (or sandpaper as mentioned in the video) or any other abrasive material should never be used to dress white metal bearings, the carborundum granules from the emery paper can become embedded it the soft white metal bearing surfaces which will have catastrophic results on the cam shaft journals. If you need to remove high spots from this type of bearing a scraper should be used.
