      Rhaenerys has failed her duty and dishonor her position. Her antics will easily lose her the support from a grand majority of traditional lord who will raise their support for who should be the rightful aid do westeros according to their laws and traditions: Aegon?

    Alicent startet to resent Rharnyra amongst other reasons because Rhaenya chose to be free when it came to her sexuality, with her night with Ser Cole but also with the father of her children. Alicent just had to endure sex with an old man, which his father arranged. I think its a good metaphor for feminism even today

      Alicent brought this upon herself. What did she think her father was doing when he offer her to the King? She lived at court, she was best friend to the Princess and she understood what it meant for Rhaenyra if the King had a son. BTW it is Otto’s fault that Rhaenyra is in this mess. He insisted she should be named heir. There was no need for that, specially if he was planning on getting Alicent into the King’s bed; because you know that is also implied. I am not going to sympathize with people who created the situation their are in and who carelessly jeopardize the lives of others. Otto and Alicent can go straight to hell. I feel bad for the kids because they are pushed into this, but once they are adults, specially the males, they can make different decisions. If they don’t, they can go meet mom and grandpa.

    *Cries in Valyrian* This is just amazing. The song choice is incredibly fitting and I love seeing young and adult Rhaenicent in this. The relationship from a deep platonic love to an intense hatred of enemies w/ underlying romantic/sexual tension is what makes it so compelling to me.
    But my goodness that look Alicent gave Rhaenyra @ 1:56-2:01 gets me every single time. The romantic framing of that shot. The longing. I can't even. And then the look between them @ the end...ugh so much tension it's insane. 🔥🔥🔥 Thank you for this beautiful masterpiece!! 🖤💚

    • @moppis1937
      @moppis1937 Рік тому +14

      I think the way she sees it is that she wants “it” more and has sacrificed more than Rhaenyra, because well… she has. She essentially gave away her life so she could be a royal womb for an old king. That resulted in her losing her closest friendship and probably strained her relationship with her father when he was removed from his position. Rhaenyra married a friend and is clearly having sex with and loving who she pleases. I adore Rhaenyra but she is flawed like any character and is very clearly spoiled and somewhat entitled. And anyways, it’s really not crazy for Alicent to be concerned about the safety of her sons - the very fact that they’re boys makes them threats to Rhaenyra’s throne.

You shouldn’t feel that way about anyone period because you get back what you put out but that’s a topic for a different video lol What you are describing is jealously- you’re rooting for the side of jealousy. Alicent is not the morality police and yet she’s obsessed with outing Rhaenyra’s sins.

Two the argument of saying I understand Alicent because she had no choice is crazy and that because Rhayah has more freedom it’s understandable for her to react like that. That’s jealousy and that’s a deadly disease. All point out how Rhaenyra allowed herself to be free to father her children with whomever she so chose, but as a very important side question which viewers are privy to, wasn't she essentially obliged to do so because her own husband is gay (even if she didn't plan to be "free" from the start)? What was the other choice- forcefully make a man sleep with her to have heirs? Naturally Alicent doesn't know these details, but knowledge of them takes the edge of judgment from Rhaenyra's actions.

    • @jjh2456
      @jjh2456 Рік тому +1

      Her husband being Gay is not an excuse. Rhaenyra needs to understand that because she will be queen then her life is not her own. She belongs to the realm. If Laenor couldn’t get her pregnant then she could’ve hopped on the back of her dragon and made a quick trip to see her uncle. There were options. She just chose the worst one.

    • @lanak3674
      @lanak3674 Рік тому +1

      @@jjh2456 I completely disagree. How's hopping on a dragon to see her MARRIED uncle better than her choice? That's ethically wrong, far more so than falling in love with another free man who loved her back. Because Rhaenyra suggested to Laenor from the very beginning that they may dine as they so wish after doing their duty, we all know this forced relationship wasn't going to be monogamous (and miserable) from the start. But they COULDN'T DO THEIR "DUTY." It wasn't happening. A straight woman marrying a gay man, let alone when it is her duty to have heirs, does call for countermeasures when the first plan fails. Between being childless, "hopping" to her uncle who left her, or doing her best to keep appearances while having a relationship based on mutual respect instead of betrayal toward Laena, she did what she had to do.

    Rhaenyra could have avoided half of the things that led to the things as they are if she didn't have bastards. A lot of the conflict comes from that in itself, ultimately she was a woman who wanted a lot but wasn't willing to act in a way befitting that. It's reasonable alicent wouldn't want her daughter married to the bastard ot rhaenyra. For people in our age it probably doesn't matter much, not like most of you lot are nobility or anything like that... That stuff has lost importance either way. To them it's an extremely important thing. Dance of the dragons was for the best in that regards, in the end aegon ||| took the throne as a pure Targaryen unlike the trueborn half targaryens or the strong bastards

      Not so much that but instead the constant gaslighting. The bastards was just one instance. When her son Aemond lost his eye to one of those bastards though there was no turning back after that.

    Still Team Alicent. Alicent got betrayed by her friend. Lost her father. Her womb sold to the crown. A loveless marriage. No friends because of status. Her children threatened to lose the game for the crown. Rhaenyra could have manage at least a little and she did not do it. Alicent was a great friend. No one tries to understand her. She is just terribly alone in her life.

      I actually think young alicent even loved romantically (maybe she even didn't knew it herself/wanted to admit it) rhaenerya. Or at least the author was very good to let that subtle doubt grown on viewers.

      I don’t hate Alicent but please don’t forget she initiated the first betrayal of their friendship…

      What a great friend Alicent was, she had meetings with Viserys right after Aemma's death and hide it from Rhaenyra. Alicent had a very powerful position at court and most of the council had her back. Rhaenyra was also alone, she didn't have anyone but sor Harwin and Laenor, and Alicent's children were threatened to lose the game because the crown was never theirs on the first place, the Greeens brought this war upon themselves mainly by greedy reasons.
