Acres in ocean view or Puna district cost less than a car. (15-25,000$)
Build an off grid small house. No recurring bills. Native forest and birds.
    400$ a year taxes.
Not for everyone. but I own my place free and clear....all for under 60,000$.

The best tips to be rich and move to Hawaii, then buy your piece of land and property, then make sure no one else can build anymore homes or infiltrate your new neighborhood. Especially local people.

You need to have 3 generations each helping the next, like the stages of a rocket. The mainland used to be that way, grandparents helped parents, parents helped kids. Now everyone's on their own. House prices are just as crazy on the mainland and most things cost more - it's more expensive to live on the mainland. This is made up for by higher pay if you can get a good job but unemployment is super high on the mainland and on most of it, if you are homeless the weather will kill you.
