- Todays Ford Model A question of the day came from Phillip!
He wants to know if we have a video on changing the coolant in the Model A.
Paul explains how easy it actually is!
Our video on, How to drain and refill coolant 2 ways may definitely help explain more!
• Ford Model A Radiators...
I forgot to put it in the Q&A video, but we did make a video on the radiator, how it works and 2 different ways to empty and refill coolant, the link is in the description.
Hi Friends!: Those petcocks are great! Back when I was doing a water pump on my current car (at that time a 1969 Fairlane 500) came in REAL handy!
Replacing coolant is simple in a Model A. I replaced the coolant last year before winter in my 1929 Tudor. Maybe I'll do a video on it. Some people don't know about these things because they were taught to take their cars to the dealer when it needed service. It will be on my other channel sometime. Thanks Tina and Paul.
Cool, I put a link to the video I made, I forgot to put it in the video lol
@@Modeltshinn Looks good Tina. I watched the other video too.
Hi Model T, gtsy, Paul's keeps giving great advice, thanks! I hope you both have a nice day.
Have a great week 💕
Thank you, you as well. 👍@@Modeltshinn
Just too let you both know how much you are both appreciated following your advice many areas of my A drive experience is due to your advice advice so big THANK YOU BOTH.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate you saying that 💕💗 Have a wonderful day!
i know these are supposed to be quick Q&As but take a minute to explain more. Drain and refill is easy, but petcock can be plugged, explain why/how often you might need to do this, how full to fill it to not cause drain tube to expel under the car, how to know if your car is running hot, what causes water/coolant to spray up from cap onto windshield, etc. All good topics for very new owners.
I put in the title and in the description the link to the video I made on it, I just forgot to add it in the video.
Love you two but you need to come up with new material but I'm not sure if you can as I have watched every episode over and over on every subject as I own a 30 31 coupe and even had Mitchell overdrive installed watching you install one, thanks to both of you.❤
I appreciate you very much and I do agree for sure, but we also work full time and sometimes overtime at our careers, so time isn’t always on our sides. Right now I’m going back in time some using questions from videos that we made with tons of questions and putting them in these short videos so they are no longer lost. I hope you can appreciate this, we love having you here 💕💗
New videos will be coming soon, it just takes time.
Also yo both have a very BIG FOLLOWING I belong to two clubs, running board A and Delaware Valley model A club in PA. and your names come up at our meetings, keep up the great work for the clubs around the world ❤
Thank you as always. Question then, without a thermostat, do we need to be less concerned with air being trapped or should we still run the car with the rad cap off to clear the system? You two are awesome, thank you again, God bless. ~ Chuck
I believe Model T has a video from a year ago on Gandalf, how to drain coolant out of "A's" with and without splash mud guards.
Yes thank you! I put it in the description, I forgot to put it in the video 🤪
Model T . I though you did a video on coolant and replacing hoses .
I forgot to add it in the video, but I put in the description the link for the video 😁
First time I did a coolant flush on my car, the petcock wouldn't drain. It was full of crud. A small piece of will get that flowing again. Also, I had trouble with my car finding its own level with coolant. I would fill it to the top and then I would lose a bunch on the ground till it figured out where I wanted to be
Thanks Paul, as i speak for myself, sometimes I need to be lead by the hand, on what seems simple to everyone else. Then I get an AHA moment and the light bulb comes on. HA!HA!
I feel the same way, you’re definitely not alone! Happy valentine 💕
@@Modeltshinn Thank you. You too.
Hi, Paul. I am not sure what type of coolant a model A uses, (Green was the old coolant in more modern cars), but you should use a 50/50 mix, not 100% you need the 50% distilled water to prevent mineral build-up and to provide the needed heat transfer. The other 50% of the coolant will give you the anti-corrosion and rust protection that is needed. Have fun with your Model A's, Mike
Thanks for sharing 💗 I added the link to the video in the description that we made, I forgot to put it in the Q&A video, it explains a lot there.
Good idea, because some people would just buy anything and put it in, not knowing the damage they could do. @@Modeltshinn
Mine leaks enough that it's on a constant slow change lol.
Oh my 😂
