please always wear a dust mask when sanding. I didn't for years working on boats and now I can't breathe!
I was thinking the same thing!!
While I agree masks are a must if sanding is part of your daily worklife, Mark and his team were sanding in the open air on a windy day for only a couple of days so I'm sure they would not have ingested much dust if any at all. Remember, Mark is trying to keep costs down and the health & safety industry is a curse on our daily worklife where skill, training and common sense has been forgotten - rant over.
I have the same problem but from sanding cars so put the mask on..

Think that deserves a trip across the Indian Ocean but probably with not wearing correct equipment he will be on a ventilator and not able to to reap the fruits of his labour !!!Wear a kin mask even if you have the Vac!!!!!!!
I would say that it is good that the primer is a different color from the bottom paint. When you go to do repairs, or any sanding later, you will be able to tell when you get down to the primer because it is a different color.

Yup. Primer should always be a different color and if one has several layers (and they can do this - because experience) then you should have different tints of it too, because you know exactly how deep you're in.

I’ve been a custom painter for over thirty years, rushing through the preparation is why most paint jobs fail, you’ve done a excellent job my friend. Perfection can be painful, and is always expensive.
Fortunately the hull restoration is in the hands of an expert!
Agreed , just my thoughts , prep is a pain , get it right the first time . Good paint on a bad surface is not good .

I worried that when the time come to flip Mahi it will be a hard sale with a Yellow Deck. Psychologically speaking it makes people think dingy un-clean surface or pee or of a banana🍌 or old.

The man who has stepped up and offered his craftsmen for free has done a amazing job with getting Mahi looking great... I personally like the blue more than the original teal color.. I pray that you eliminate that awful yellow topsides.. yellow is my least favorite color.. here in America if someone says that you're yellow it means you're a coward

Big shout out to Dominic, Dan and Sarah. They did some excellent work on the hull primer and top coat. Teal looks sharp. Bottom anti fouling, then top deck. Great weather, not too much rain. Starting to get cooler.
The color of your boat is close to the color you see when the sun shines thru a breaking wave. Very nice. Love what you have been doing for over a year. I would really recommend you go for white cabin tops. You get white everywhere to touch up and the boat will look more timeless! Love the color for the hull

As for the small imperfections , live with it :-) Only so much you can do , you are out in the open , not in some fancy ship yard :-)

you dont need to tip ( lay off ) if you have right roller sleeve and paint consistency. especially since the primer is orange peel like that. tipping off drying paint can be a nightmare. always paint in shade.
if your up to date Mark i would check out anything from Frankie Bushong really good process with a perfect finish though he is a sprayer rather than roll and tip !!! I rolled and had no need to tip with the agents in the paint and easy repairs as well !!

I know money is tight but I say when you get a chance you need to build a pilot house 🏠 on top with a galley a salon table/nav. table and then you can totally use the hulls as sleeping berths and storage and use one for your solar power supply storage 😊

When you do the keels, can you please show how you deal with the parts that are on the supports holding her of the ground? It's one detail other channels seem to leave out.

when its lifted they give you time to paint on antifouling before splashing.
I seen a video that the person used tape and dabbed his brush bristles on the sticks and it pulled out the loose ones mostly so it was not so bad. Nice color another great video.

I dig the final paint color. And even though I detest that yellowish / orangy cabin tops, it might actually look good with a brighter yellow with the turqoise hulls! Congrats on 100K!

The rest of them are just being polite. I don't like that colour it looks like the North Sea on a bad day. Very professional job though and should last you a good few years. Copper coat the bottom and she'll never be out of the water for the next 10 years.

I did vertically tip off. Found it caused less sag. Also, had someone to clean brushes (3) of drying paint. Stay away from brightside paint (was horrible). Looks amazing!!!
Reckon I've skipped over prob hours of 'oh glorious' in the past weeks, and over on Ran and magic carpet, so prob missed many golden nuggets. Luvin it tho! ✌️Idea: talk-over of your sailing or other plans, instead of the music-over ✌️
So much to be gained from the experience...the memories and friendships you make along the way will last you a life time and carry you through the pain of what it cost in so many ways..Let not your heart be troubled friend...Fairweather and sunny days ahead sailing into the blue...⛵
