I just installed these today. Rather than lowering the axle so much, I used a floor jack with a 2x4 scrap to force the leaf spring up so I could slide the block in. Also left the wheels on and did one side completely at a time. Hope it helps. Nice truck!!

Hey man love the videos and the truck. I just bought a 16 z71 Silverado had it leveled in the front. Next step is picking the right wheel setup. I see in your comments that you mention state inspections I live in Ga and have never heard of that can you elaborate?
John Doe yeah man... the state of PA makes you go through a yearly inspection to make sure your vehicle is safe for the road. They also test the emissions system to make sure there’s no leaks and that you have the proper exhaust and stuff on your vehicle. IT SUCKS!!!
ᗩustin ᑕummins honestly no issues with towing thus far.. have had a few pretty heavy loads with a few different style trailers and cargo and she’s been good. Also, the brow is at 5% 🤟🏼

You read the majority of the other comments on this video yet? I can’t understand the entire “squat” thing dudes like now a days. Trucks are generally made for guys who like to use them for work. The rake helps with that when hauling and what not. Starting at the sky when hooked up to a trailer is plain unsafe for those yee yee boys.
Looks awesome! I have the rough country 2.5 in level lift. Really close to buying 3 in block for the rear because i tow. Your vids are great. Keep up the good work
Chris how you liking the 2.5 kit? I am considering the purchase as well. doesn't the kit come with a 2" block for rear as well making it still have a slight rake?
@@djt6753 i really like the kit. Very easy to instal on your own. I went with the 3 inch block just because i do tow. The 2 inch block just isnt enough. But i do like the kit. No issues with buying a rough country kit. Im a rough country poster child bahaha
You said in the video you went with a 2 inch lift block. Does that mean you bought a 3 inch block to lift the truck 2 inches? Because it comes with a 1 inch block.
Anyone else notice he didnt block the truck from being able to roll backwards onto him? Safety first he should have blocked both sides of the tires. Especially with a driveway slope to the road. Other than that not a bad job on it. ps... My friend used some blocks that go in the spring to raise it up some. ( not sure how much i trust them but they appeared to work good)
GREAT CHANNEL YOU HAVE 💪💪 LOVE YOUR CONTENT BEEN WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS ABOUT ALL DAY 😂😂 I’m planing on going with the 2.5 motofab lift in the front as well, but I also want to keep the rake. I plan on going with 1” rear blocks for the back, do you think I’ll still need rear shocks or can I keep my stock ones without blowing them ? Thanks in advance.
Do you have to unbolt the shocks or can you leave connected? My truck has over 100,000 miles and no way I'm unbolting them unless I change them lol. Also not sure if I want 2 inch or 1.5. I got a 2 inch level already. 2004 Sierra 2500hd. If I can leave the shocks on that'd be awesome.
Alec Pratt hmmmm might be able to leave the shocks on and just might have to pry on the axle to get the new blocks in.. do like 1 side at a time and pry it down or something not sure. Might have to bite the bullet and snatch some shocks too! Lol
@@JohnWargo93 that may work. I'll have an extra hand installing them. Mine actually didn't come with stock blocks so it'd be nice. And yeah shocks are a pretty penny lol. Truck sounds good. I installed a 4 inch dynomax on mine. See you're in Pittsburgh I'm actually in Erie county if you wanna put em in for me 😅
Hey I have question. So my family and myself have been blessed with the opportunity to move to Nashville, Tenn. I have always been a pick-up truck fan but where I lived previously I could never justify getting one. Now that I’m here I can for a number of reasons. I started looking at pickups and to my surprise they are up there in price. So my question to you bc I’m new to the south and the culture. I see people with brand new pick ups and they have them lifted and put on incredible rims and tires (love it) but are people here buying these trucks outright? Bc you can’t modify a lease or a finance unless it’s paid in full? Just curious bc I would love to join the “club.”
Tom Markz what’s up brother welcome to the fam!! Ummm... I’m going to assume most guys are modifying a financed vehicle. I mean I’ll be honest I do it to all of my cars and for the most part finance all the more expensive ones.
I have the same 2018 double cab... your shits legit and have decided to do the same 2 inch lift lvl with extra leaf spring in rear.... im in construction and do alot of hauling and in and out of the back of the the truck.. so jacking it up 6to8oreven12 was out the question do to being compfortability in loadin and unloading my truck..... but also needed a slight lift wen headin into the hills to shoot, fishing, and hunting hitting uneven ground and pitholes...
Bryan Bernard thanks for the feedback and support!! And I hear ya.. if you’re really using your truck daily the big lifts are inconvenient, but stock is a little small for hills and what not 🤙🏼🤙🏼
You didnt need to touch the back..I am running 20x9 Fuel Assaults on 33x12.50 Fuel Mud Grippers with just a 2in rough country level in the front and no other modifications whatsoever with zero rubbing at all..rear end is completely O.E. The truck looks great no doubt but you could have saved a few bucks and still got the look you wanted with just a level.
GIXXER_NICK I didn’t put the blocks in the rear to make room for tires, I did it because I didn’t like the look of the truck with just the level up front. Looked too level of that makes sense, lol. I wanted the rake back, didn’t like the squatting look when I hook up a trailer or anything.
Truck looks good, I have a 2017 z71 crewcab with a 2.25 leveling kit and it’s perfectly leveled, but I’m in the same boat as you were, thinking about adding rear blocks too!
@@nelsonchico9032 I ended up getting 2 1/4 inch really lift rear blocks, the stock blocks are 1 1/4 inches, so that gave me a total of one extra inch in the rear which I like because it still looks somewhat leveled but slightly higher in the back for throwing things. I like the way it came out.
I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on the very same setup...has the ride quality changed at all? I just went from a '15 2500HD to an '18 1500 and I love the softer ride.
Heyy!! Ride quality stayed the same up front, I hear guys that go the 3” route though have a little rougher ride because everything is all the way cranked up at that point just like cranking the keys on a 3/4 ton... the rear is good also but factory shocks are a little overextended so you notice when hitting larger bumps and stuff. Didn’t get the extensions, was just going to get longer shocks but I haven’t yet 🙈
Im looking at the MotoFab lift kit. 2.5" in the front and 2" in the rear. I do like the stock rake but that extra half inch in the front will help level it but still keep rear slightly higher while giving a great overall lift. Not a fan of trucks that drag ass.
good stuff and liked John :) So I ended up just keeping the XD820's 20x10 in Satin black/305/55/R20 Ridge Grapplers going on Sat morn. I drop truck off tomm eve...So I ordered the Motofab 2.5" front 2" rear which sounds exactly like what you did. Any advice I should pass along to the shop? I have read the front upper ball joint getting it popped out and back in is a pain. I would guess they will do the job on a lift? Anyway perhaps I can make a vid after it gets done to show it...
Thank you man!! That's exciting!! Yes, it's exactly the setup I have right now... 2.5" up front and the 2" in the rear... Yes, the upper ball joint was a pain, but they should have better tools than I do at the shop, lol. And yes, I'd also assume they'll do it all on a lift, it'll make the job wayyy easier than the way I did it. Please show it when done, I can even give you my email address to shoot a photo over if you don't upload on the Tube!!
If at all possible could you pull your truck up beside an exact same truck but stock without lift and tires? I want to see what the difference in height is please Brotha! I know you can’t right now because of your accident but whenever you get free time!
Order the same blocks 2" tall and i received 3" tall i dont know if they send me the wrong block or what but that is not going to work for me so im sending them back. Do you know how tall yours were
Jorgeluis Salazar yeah man, the 2” lift kit comes with 3” blocks.. the factory blocks are currently 1” tall.. so once you remove them, and insert the 3” tall block it’ll give you a total of 2” of lift in the rear from factory.
Truck looks great! Did you put in a 2 inch block or a 3? I only ask because It doesn’t look like factory it looks about halfway in between . A 2 inch block really only lifts the rear .75-1” by the time you take the factory block out
John Wargo thanks for the response man . Im in the same boat ever since I leveled my truck it looks higher in the front and I’m wanting a block for the rear. Really like the way yours sits.
I know this is a 2018 vid but I wish I wouldve ran across it before dealing with the same thing on my '21. Got it done but this would've saved me an hour or so..
So wouldn't this be a actual 1¼ lift in the back? Over the 1¼ stock block? Not 2¼ of lift over stock? Also, what is the measurement from the center of hub, from ground to the underside of fender? Im trying to see my height with the 3" front vs 2½ front, and 2¼, block vs stock block. Does this make sense?Lol
ProjectADD I have the 2.5” level up front, 2” block kit in the rear. Can’t measure from the hub from the wheel offset, but from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender is... 8.25” gap in the front, 9.5” gap in the rear.
@@JohnWargo93 sorry I didn't ask that question right lol. I confused myself reading that back. I meant from the ground up to the underside of wheel wells.
John Wargo nice! I think this video has made my decision on what I’m going to get! I just picked up a 2018 with 22x9 wheels and my last midnight edition was leveled, but I want to keep the rake in it, as I tow my boat and frequently have a quad, dirt bike or a snowmobile in the bed! Your truck looks nasty!!
Ricky Hendrix I don’t think so.. I still have 1.75” of rake and that’s with the 2.5” up front and 2” in the rear. Might wanna go with the 1” block for the rear to be more level??
Ricky Hendrix did you ever put the 2 inch block in the back? I just installed the 3 inch up front but I also think the 2 inch block in the back would make it higher, and I want it to sit level
Austin Inscho yeah man that’s what’s on the truck right now.. 2.5” up front, 2” blocks in the rear. She sits higher. Pretty sure it even would on yours.
I’ve tried looking through the comments but what size tires and wheels? I am going to do the same exact setup. But I want to shop around and didn’t know what size is best with clearing everything.
Rudy Vega from my research they produce the best and most affordable product for the buck for these 5th gens. Quality and tested but not crazy expensive or anything.
William Palmer only when hitting big bumps and that’s because I haven’t upgraded shocks yet.. the stock shocks are current maxed out in height. I think once I get 2” longer shocks it’ll be back to normal!!
@@JohnWargo93 I ran into this issue, I live and drive on alot of dirt roads and I almost chip my teeth my suspension hits so dang hard. I'm looking for advice on shock and strut replacement ideas to compensate this. Got to say, never heard anyone say they like nosedive but hey that’s ur taste lol🤷🏼♂️
Quick question was looking at a 3inch level for front and 2 inch level for back? Would that be a good idea?
Sure man, it’ll end up more level than mine currently. I got the factory rake back with my 2.5” up front and 2” in the rear setup.
Looks awesome! I have the rough country 2.5 in level lift. Really close to buying 3 in block for the rear because i tow. Your vids are great. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the support man!!
DJT you can but it as a kit, yessir. Keeping the factory rake. I’m just a bum and did it separately 😂😂
( not sure how much i trust them but they appeared to work good)
Northern Rider I tow with them and everything, 27k miles so far, no issues.
Would jacking up on the leaf springs be easier?
Yeah... a few other guys said it may as well. Now I know for next time, lol!!
J The Don appreciate you! You’ll still be okay with the factory shocks. I’m still running mine with the 2” blocks in the rear and she’s fine.
Great video. Explained very well
Appreciate that!!
This is the kinda shit I need on my truck. I own a 2wd, don’t wana be a douche with a 6” on a 2wd.
Its MUCH easier to do 1 side at a time also those blocks are tapered the small side has to face the front of the vehicle
You was suppose to do on side at a time.
Michael Fewell ahhh I can see where that would be easier, lol!!
😂😂🤣👍
See you're in Pittsburgh I'm actually in Erie county if you wanna put em in for me 😅
Alec Pratt haha you’ll see me rolling around Erie a lot of weekends in the summertime. Have a camp up there 🤟🏼 Rum Runners here we come! Haha
@@JohnWargo93 haha nice!! If this virus ever goes away i might run into ya!
Good job 👍
JOHN WARGO I see. Ok cool. Thanks for answering my question . I’m gonna try to go for a pre-owned.
After installing the 2inch rear blocks. How high is the bed from the ground?
I have the same 2018 double cab... your shits legit and have decided to do the same 2 inch lift lvl with extra leaf spring in rear.... im in construction and do alot of hauling and in and out of the back of the the truck.. so jacking it up 6to8oreven12 was out the question do to being compfortability in loadin and unloading my truck..... but also needed a slight lift wen headin into the hills to shoot, fishing, and hunting hitting uneven ground and pitholes...
Bryan Bernard thanks for the feedback and support!! And I hear ya.. if you’re really using your truck daily the big lifts are inconvenient, but stock is a little small for hills and what not 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Are those 2inch or 3 inch blocks? did they give you 2 inch's of lift or 1inch? considering the oem block i think is 1.25" that you took out. -thanks
kavan vienneau blocks are called 2” but they were actually 3” I’m guessing to account taking out the factory blocks. Gave me precisely 2” of lift!
@@JohnWargo93 I tow an 8,000lb camper with my 17 1500 Sierra and get zero squat with a stock rear end..timbres
Timbrens*
I got a 2021 gmc 4x4 I just leveled it and want any ideas on if I do the inch block will be able to finally fit 35s
Truck looks good, I have a 2017 z71 crewcab with a 2.25 leveling kit and it’s perfectly leveled, but I’m in the same boat as you were, thinking about adding rear blocks too!
Chris Topher I’m very happy since adding the blocks... much better in my opinion for my style!! Thanks for the support!!
Does your truck have any vibration issues since you put in the “tapered” 2 inch rear block?
@@christopher4091 No sir, it's been good so far!!
Chris, did you leave the stock blocks in the rear?
@@nelsonchico9032 I ended up getting 2 1/4 inch really lift rear blocks, the stock blocks are 1 1/4 inches, so that gave me a total of one extra inch in the rear which I like because it still looks somewhat leveled but slightly higher in the back for throwing things. I like the way it came out.
What inch of level did you do on the front? Any issues with the front components wearing prematurely?
2.5” level up front. No issues during the 30k miles that I had the truck
I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on the very same setup...has the ride quality changed at all? I just went from a '15 2500HD to an '18 1500 and I love the softer ride.
One more thing, you go the shock extension route?
Nice.... I was just wondering what is the off set of the wheel ?
-44 sir
Next time just put the truck on the jack stands then jack the leaf spring up, install the block, lower the leaf spring again. Do one side at a time.
Appreciate the tip!!
It’s better to jack stand the rear end and jack up the leaf springs after un bolted would of been way easier
Tristan Fernandez yeahhh thank you for the feedback! I knew there had to be an easier way 😂😂
Im looking at the MotoFab lift kit. 2.5" in the front and 2" in the rear. I do like the stock rake but that extra half inch in the front will help level it but still keep rear slightly higher while giving a great overall lift. Not a fan of trucks that drag ass.
Whelplayed same man, not a fan of the “Cali Lean”
good stuff and liked John :) So I ended up just keeping the XD820's 20x10 in Satin black/305/55/R20 Ridge Grapplers going on Sat morn.
LOOKS GREAT MAN 💪Looking to do it on my Sierra... How well is it holding up? I heard they mess up the ride (bearing shocks etc) with time.
Official✔CNN so far so good for me, 26k miles 🤟🏼🤟🏼
If at all possible could you pull your truck up beside an exact same truck but stock without lift and tires? I want to see what the difference in height is please Brotha! I know you can’t right now because of your accident but whenever you get free time!
Sean Church hey man I actually have a couple photos next to exact same trucks just stock.. even white! Lol Do you have a way I can send them to you?
JOHN WARGO my email is dukeswrestling24@icloud.com
Thank Brotha and I hope for a speedy recovery 🤙🏻
Sean Church I’ll send them over 🤙🏼🤙🏼
@@JohnWargo93 I'd love to see those pics too...moodondie@gmail.com
Order the same blocks 2" tall and i received 3" tall i dont know if they send me the wrong block or what but that is not going to work for me so im sending them back. Do you know how tall yours were
Jorgeluis Salazar yeah man, the 2” lift kit comes with 3” blocks.. the factory blocks are currently 1” tall.. so once you remove them, and insert the 3” tall block it’ll give you a total of 2” of lift in the rear from factory.
Thank you very much for your response my friend . Im going to try to send them back and ill see if ¡ can find me some 2" or 2.5"
Bottle jack the spring instead of dropping axel
Thank u this comment helped tremendously
@@jodythebrody2127 happy it helped
I added a 2 inch block on the rear but don’t like the stance, could I use the new hardware on the stock blocks?
Yeah I’d assume as long as the treads go deep enough!
Truck looks great! Did you put in a 2 inch block or a 3? I only ask because It doesn’t look like factory it looks about halfway in between . A 2 inch block really only lifts the rear .75-1” by the time you take the factory block out
Robert Walker it’s a 2” block from MotoFab.
John Wargo thanks for the response man . Im in the same boat ever since I leveled my truck it looks higher in the front and I’m wanting a block for the rear. Really like the way yours sits.
Robert Walker haha were never satisfied are we!? Thanks man, let me know if you go the same route!!
2" lift block is actually 3" tall, just got mine and measured it.
I know this is a 2018 vid but I wish I wouldve ran across it before dealing with the same thing on my '21. Got it done but this would've saved me an hour or so..
The ycall it a 2” block kit but is the block actually 2” or is it 3” so you really get 2” lift after removing the factory block?
Trey block is 3” total so you get 2” of lift after removing the factory block
How’s the ride quality after the installation?
Rembe Villarreal rides just fine! Can use a little longer shock but other than that she’s solid 👌🏼
Are your front tires rubbing on the inner fenders
Wayne Glenn yes, on the rear of the front fenders. Right where those little black corner pieces are.
ProjectADD oh okay I gotcha.. I’ll see if I can get a measurement tomorrow for ya
@@JohnWargo93 that Be great, thanks. Also what rear shock you go with? I don't like the stock ranchos, a bit harsh off a ride.
Looks good! So you basically have 2” blocks all the way around?
Yessir, pretty much!!
Thank you so much man!! Appreciate the support!! I think doing this is the key if you tow a good bit!!
@@JohnWargo93 Yea John looks really good, any side view picture that you could post on the comment? Thks
Rudy Vega nahh youtube doesn’t allow photos in comments unfortunately. If you’re on Instagram you can see my truck @j_wargo
Nice truck
If I was to get the 3 inch leveling kit for the front & then get the 2 inch in the rear would it sit level ?
Great Video 👌
I’ve tried looking through the comments but what size tires and wheels? I am going to do the same exact setup. But I want to shop around and didn’t know what size is best with clearing everything.
These are 20x12 -44 wheels and 33x12.50 tires. They rubbed at full lock
@@JohnWargo93 awesome thanks! Would you suggest going with the same setup or something else?
@@Codymccool1 I was pretty happy with it. Rode nice, looked right in my opinion 👌🏼
What are your fender measurements now.?
what did you use to lift the front and the back ? where is the video?
This is the video for the rear.. the front is also on the channel. All MotoFab.
@@JohnWargo93 Why Motofab?
Rudy Vega from my research they produce the best and most affordable product for the buck for these 5th gens. Quality and tested but not crazy expensive or anything.
@@JohnWargo93 while thk u for the info/ reply. I love your truck, you done a lot to it.
Did it change the way it rides?
William Palmer only when hitting big bumps and that’s because I haven’t upgraded shocks yet.. the stock shocks are current maxed out in height. I think once I get 2” longer shocks it’ll be back to normal!!
@@JohnWargo93 I ran into this issue, I live and drive on alot of dirt roads and I almost chip my teeth my suspension hits so dang hard. I'm looking for advice on shock and strut replacement ideas to compensate this.
