Thank you for a great video. It really helped me on purchasing my first helmet ever. I was freaking out at the beginning because it felt way too tight. After taking your advice everything fell into the right place. Great help and really love all your videos. Keep riding!!!
Great video guys, I've been riding for years but I always question if my new helmet fits right and showing what a good fit and bad fit looks like is extremely helpful and not that many videos are showing that. Kudos
I have a life long battle with helmet size. I'm in-between a small and medium helmet My head is 22 1/8 inch. Used to buy small helmet and soak it with water and get it's sweaty to break in. A medium will last a while then get loose. I like the helmet right enough where you can grab it on chin gaurd and wrestle it around and it barely moves.
Convinced me to purchase from you guys, excited to actually use a helmet. Between my ebike and eskateboard, I get scared not having one and have ate terd once on my board, thankfully I only got minor scratches, but sure convinced me to order a helmet, DOH.
I enthusiastically agree. It would likely save them money in reduced returns. A method to determine shape numerically would also be amazingly helpful. I’m still not happy with my second helmet so far. Ugh.
Great video, super helpful. My first mx helmet was an o'neal 3 and it's a large. I tried them on in the store and thought there is no way my head will fit in anything smaller... I just purchased and received, from you guys, the MSR mav4 MIPS size small using the sizing chart. Before finding this video, I did exactly what you suggested - take the cheek pads out to see if my head even fits. Was concerned with trying with cheek pads in, lol, and found this video. Needless to say, the small seems to be my size. Thank goodness I never took a bad hit in the large oneal lol. Always great content guys, thanks!
When you were demoing the fit and it was moving up/down and side/side on the yellow helmet. Isn't that a bit on the loose side? I'm also on max side of the S and worried that it might be too small.
Received my helmet (a while back) and since, I wear it like religion, not trying to go there, but most get what I mean. This video told me exactly what size i needed. Was alone the day I had ordered it, so had to do the measurements 3 times to be 100% and it works perfectly. BTW, soooooo glad I got it too! other day I ate terd again, scratched the helmet up, but at least my brain didn't get twisted side ways, the rest of me did, but hey, didn't stop me from riding...just cleaned the blood up after my ride, haha! (no really, true story, was bent on going for a ride, eating it or not!). Oh, I got one of the $85 ones, cheap, cool as heck, and works and fits great!
Thanks for this! If I have to really push to get my cranium shoved up into the comfort liner, and I can feel my heart beating in my temples, is that too tight, or do I just need to assume it will break in? I feel like I’m in between sizes, but “snug” is kind of subjective. This is a Fly Racing Formula CC Driver (from RMATV of course).
What would you recommend for a person who's getting an all terrain electric scooter? 🤔 I really like the typoon I'm on a budget right now but I'm in Texas so the summers are hot and need something with good airflow.
Would be very helpful if you mentioned the head shape of a given helmet when doing a review. For example, the recent line of Fox helmets (V1/V2) are very neutral/almost round head shape which does not fit most people while some of the LS2 MX helmets are a long oval shape. Mentioning this is going to save people (and RMATV from paying postage) from buying an ill-fitting helmet and having to return it.
I understand your point on this, however, the fit of every helmet is very subjective to the rider. You say the Fox helmets have a neutral/round head shape while many other riders would disagree with you. I don't want someone to not buy a helmet because I said it has a certain head shape. If I have several riders all try on the same helmet and they we all come to the same conclusion that the helmet shape could be something mentioned. - Chase
hot spots, pressure points .... look.. I'm gonna level with you guys. what's the biggest goddamned MX style helmet out there? I'm talking an apartment inside. for an egg oval head. I'm sick to death of tiny Chinese helmets. my garage is half full of them
LOL I loved the thumbnail pic.

Thanks for watching and we're glad you now have a properly fitting helmet!

Honestly it doesn’t look like that helmet fits TJ. It’s too easy for him to move it around. Doesn’t look snug.
🤣🤣

I would aruge unless that helmet is broken in and well used the xsm is still little big.
This advice really comes in handy.
@Carmelo Giedlin thanks
A really helpful tool would be to see the helmets that offer different shell sizing.

Awesome! We're glad to hear you found the right size. Thanks for the feedback and checking out the video!

His helmet looked too loose to me
I agree. Yellow seemed like a demo of too loose, with blue being comically loose.
tiny head guys! haha reminds me of that scene in beetlejuice
Always quality content! Thanks guys
Our pleasure!
Very happy to hear im not the only onevwith chipmunk cheeks!
Agreed!
Thanks guys. This video helped me a ton.
Thank you for watching and we're glad it helped!!
My helmet looks like the thumbnail photo but if I push it down it fits.. idk if it’s to small or not lol

I measured my head read for a medium but tried a foxv1 xl fit perfect wth
What about the gap from chin to helmet? I was told not to get one with that gap too small
Is motocross helmet also good for riding in the city..
Yes its perfectly fine for city use. You just have to make sure that the helmet is road legal and has a DOT/ECE rating!

Free shipping on exchange , does that include shipping to Canada ?
Unfortunately, this only includes the contiguous United States.

How do we know the helmet is too tight?
If it feels like ot presses against your head too hars and it’s uncomfortable or in the worst case you get a headache after a little while
Fun fact: it says on your birth certificate what type of head you have

My wife has an O’Neil helmet but she says it’s too heavy. Are there lighter options? She’s really small - 20”.
Which O'neal helmet does she have?
@@rmatvmc
It is the 3 series.
there is a helmet I am looking at, but I am directly between medium and large. Should I size up or down?
It just depends on the how the helmet fits. This is why we have our fit guarantee so you can get free shipping to exchange it for the correct size.
Hi, do y'all carry mtb specific helmets, or do you have a lighter version of mx helmets you would recommend?
We are starting to sell MTB specific helmets! You can check them out here: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/riding-gear/ebike-helmets
Can you tell your helmet size based on your fitted baseball cap size? Just wondering how to buy a helmet online, since you can't try it on?
All helmet should have a sizing guide on the product page so you can take a measurement of you head and know what size to order.
I need a long oval xxxl helmet. I cannot find a brand which labels the helmets as long oval.
Me neither
i think tj needs an extra extra small haha just kiddinf but i didnt think that much play would be allowable in a proper fitting helmet
I wonder how hard it was for the poor dude on the thumbnail to get his helmet off?
He survived haha.
You need to ride with it to know if it fits.
22.5 inches for me
How much should we size down on the cheek pads if we are biting our cheeks
I was watching ur vid in my helmet
I guess I'm going to good ole Walmart again. 40 bucks for some matte black helmet. I'm sold
Sounds like already have brain damage with that logic. Wouldnt even worry about getting a helmet.
That helmets too loose/ not the correct head shape.
Your mom wears a helmet.
RevZilla sucks, I had to pay $35 dollars to return a helmet that didnt fit.

My head feels under pressure. Too small, I should've watched this video first. Not just the cheeks
