      It was really good. You have some interview skills. Nice you don’t interrupt and allow speaker to fully express thoughts. Seems like you are considering your audience and our less then fully developed knowledge of the subject. Thank you.

      Nice first interview. I hope to see more interview on genome and epigenetic editing Maybe Dr. Sinclair next ? Dr. Liu is right publish the paper because in academia it always publish or perish more papers means more "paper". Yeah I expect them to reduce off targeting editing over time, this will be huge for correcting a wide range of genetic aliments. Keep up the good work.

    I have been binge-watching most of your videos this weekend, and I am so happy to finally put a face on such an amazing voice! Been a non-scientist (and a non-native English speaker), I really appreciate that you explain complicated subjects in such a didactic way, as well as the fact that you write while you speak. I wonder, as many others, why your channel does not have more subscribers... Anyway, I am happy I am one of them! A final note, I love when you are smiling while talking, it really ads to your unique way of sharing science! All the best from Argentina.

    I’m just starting to learn about DNA editing and anti-aging, and I thoroughly enjoyed this interview. Thank you! Most of the science and terminology went over my head, but I can tell this is a fundamental and powerful field of study! And I could tell that this interview was between two honest and open people, which is powerful. Thank you!

    Ms. Sheekey, I am so impressed with you, your intellect and very advanced interviewing skills. So many veteran vloggers have the annoying habit of responding to the interviewee with some sort of sound, like an « um, hummm, yes or the like. » You just nod your head silently. Very professional. And Ms Sheeky, forgive me if I point out that you are far more attractive as a human being than your animation would have ever suggested.

    Great job Sheekey. Giving us geezers some hope.
    If you do another interview, I'd love to see one with George Church. He's said a few times that there are certain genetic tweaks that are known to reverse aging. But after a year of studying his youtube appearances I am still not really sure what he means. He IS doing a lot of interesting things though: better delivery vectors, editing pigs to grow human organs (successfully apparently), as well as an idea for solving the planetary climate emergency by editing cyanobacteria to be cyanophage resistant & thereby creating a massive carbon sink in the ocean. Go George. Go Sheekey.
    Here is a recent aging interview he did with students: ua-cam.com/video/hpYOQVpvRW4/v-deo.html

    I was most interested in epigenetics and aging, but I sort of got the impression that he wasn't aware of in vivo reprogramming? He seemed to dodge your question on aging (though this was not the focus of what was a comprehensive interview of his field).

    One more interviewee vote: Ana Maria Cuervo due to her awesome work in the field of autophagy. Doesn't it seem believable that if we can rescue autophagy, we can continue to ward off many of the diseases of aging?

      @@TheSheekeyScienceShow Yes it would be interesting to learn more about how CMA & senescence interplay.
      Today was the day I learned that metformin & rapamyacin are senamorphics first from you & then later on the Stem-talk podcast with Dr. Kirkland. He also said that senescent cells start the chain that boosts CD38 and hence lowers NAD+.

    Question: I'm a male and I suffer from a heritable form of Diabetes (MODY). This means that if I make children, 50% of them will inherit my Diabetes. The affected gene has 2 mutations close together. Question: is it possible right now to treat my male procreation cells to eliminate this genetic disease in my male cells, given that these cells are simpler than normal cells and are easy to put in a test tube for treatment? EDIT: I had to rewrite this post because of youtube censor.

    • @ScientistInvests
      @ScientistInvests 3 роки тому +1

      Technically it is possible, but from current ethical perspective it's not allowed to edit cells that would be passed to the next generation. See story of Lulu and Nana.

    • @petersteenkamp
      @petersteenkamp 3 роки тому

      @@ScientistInvests Good point and thank you for the reference. I wonder, however, as half my male reproductive cells have the correct gene, if it would be possible to separate the male reproductive cells with the correct genes from the cells with the incorrect genes. Technically that would not be gene-editing.

    what an awesome progression. There you have, dr Eleanor in the flesh"
    If you keep it up, you can be sure you will be as known as many other channels as "FoundMyFitness" and others.
    * An interview with a Professor at Harvard University, congratulations.
    *Oh come on, you are basically an PhD, you can purchase better equipment, now you see your channel is getting many views, especially when more guests start to come, as David Sinclair (this guy just maybe work together with him sometimes) (don't worry, all his interviews are exactly the same and he never tells something different, always the same texts, but he calls lots of attention), or Shin-Ishiro Amai, this one is very rare to give interviews and also a Key person in the area. Believe it or not, Walter O'Brien likes to give interviews too, he is kind of narcissistic, and also likes to talk about the future and himself a lot.
    You can buy a new headPhone, a new Cam, Light, and just do a better camera angle.
    * All, you will need to lose some time thinking how to make good thumbnails, the one on this video is good, but Close-up Photos of both the interviewers with the title in the middle call more attention! I know you don't have much time, but if your channel grows, is a must.
    -*- Checkout *Dr Brad Stanfield* Channel. His main goal is to translate for common mortals like me, complex studies evolving longevity!! (just as you do sometimes)
    Also just like you do, he started very small and unpretentiously, and little by little his channel is growing a lot too. Instead of animations, was all him on the couch (check the first videos) with a really bad cam. After changing the scenario his channel tripled the size.
    (I detach his channel on mine, because he helps me a lot on the longevity field, and now he has Patrons!). I saw his channel grow from nothing, is so cool.
    * You can do a video about the interviews you do, breaking up the ideas discussed, so dumb people like me can understand. Big videos like this are very difficult to normal people to see, but short videos commenting on your own video, not only sum more views, as give more details missed, or that you don't have the time or idea to tell on the interview.
    * I know you don't have the time, editing sucks, but is something good if you can find a partner.
    * If you earn in dollar or euro, is very sad, but you can pay people in 3º world countries for very cheap, for art or services.
    * You can ask for your viewer's help, if you need to reach someone you want to interview!.
    *
