Welcome new beekeeper! You will love this hobby. I highly recommend you get a second hive so that you can compare the hives against one another. I can't wait to see your bee operation grow.
Thanks for the kind words! Thanks for the advice on getting a second hive. Many folks including you have suggested starting with two hives! I’ll have to budget that in as soon as possible! Also I need to get a couple 5 frame nuc boxes and more 8 frame boxes to have around too!
I have a bee hive on my property that my son manages and we have enjoyed the honey and wax for candles. I of course am thankful for their pollination duties! 🐝
Awesome that you’ve got a hive! We’re looking forward to all the bee keeping aspects! Especially the honey! Numerous pollinators are here naturally, but more can’t hurt!
Thanks for the video, got same kit but wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something from the instructions that came with it. Also had a couple of bees buzzing me as soon as I unboxed it, had to build it inside.
Glad you enjoyed the video! The bees love the smell of the wax coating. They were even landing on the shipping cardboard checking everything out. Good luck with your bees! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Wow, what a beautiful fit the company gave you! Your demo on putting it together is really helpful, too! Really hoping y’all have good luck with your bees. Lord knows every bee is needed on this earth. Super excited to see how it all comes along! Saw a man had some kind of spinner he put his combs into and it pulled the honey out-then he strained it. Plenty of work, but no one ever said homesteading was easy! Best to your family and Happy New Year, ~~QM 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you for the kind words! Hope you have a blessed 2023 as well! Really nice hive! Especially for the price! Glad you enjoyed the video! Looking at several different honey extractors, doing my research!
You’re most welcome! It’s holding up just fine! No de-lamination, no rot etc! I’ll be doing a bee inspection video in the next week or two. I’ll show the hive in detail for you!
Yes, bear proofing measures are in the works. Bear proof hive stands of my own design + fencing. All will be shown in future videos! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I can not figure out what the woodware wax is. Can you? The description on Amazon says,"100% Beeswax" but I can't smell it. I'm hoping the plastic foundation has a beeswax scent. Thanks
The wax coating on my hive is bee wax. The wild/feral bees are attracted to the wood on the hive. The foundation has a good bit of wax coating. Hope this helps.
We were in the process of looking into doing this since my neighbor was Doing it and we were extremely interested. Well my husband had been cutting down dead trees and her hive decided they wanted one of them and he didn’t know when he started cutting they swarmed his face and he dropped the running chainsaw into his leg. After stage ER visit We decided not to invest in the bees at this time.
Sorry to hear about the accident! Hope he has healed/healing! Chainsaw wounds are terrible! It’s yellow jackets or hornets that usually surprise me when running the weedeater or lawnmower!
@@THEOFFGRIDMOUNTAINHOMESTEAD thank you, they reattached his calf and the healing is going perfect! He knows I have the equipment to take care of things like sutures and staples and ask if I could fix this lol I said umm I’d rather not. He is back to himself and all is well!
Excellent video.
Glad you liked it! Thanks!

Thank you!
That is a super nice hive kit at a great price. I am surprised that it went together as well as it did with no fitment issues.
It’s a very nice hive! I read reviews for weeks before ordering. This particular hive had the least amount of complaints.
Zero complaints from me!

@@THEOFFGRIDMOUNTAINHOMESTEAD that would bee great 🙃. The puns one with the territory right?
It’s to bee expected 😊
Since you are in the mountains, are you going to bear-proof the hives?

Great! I anxious to see your tactical bear defense design.

Hey, I have these hives but my feeder doesn't fit. What feeder did you use? My lid won't close all the way, doesn't get that ideal seal.
