We're heading into the endgame slowly - Beyond the obvious threats like the Xenon, there are 3 we need to follow the story lines for and deal with, one way or another. The Paranid, Split, and Vigor Syndicate. I'll add comments below for people to vote on which gets dealt with first, or feel free to add your own suggestions. My only note is that the Paranid and Split storylines are a bit longer, which might give the fleet more time to work through operation Offline.
I suggest acquiring some split Raptors for use against the Vigor Syndicate. Fight fighters with fighters and a mountain of turrets for good measure. Also Raptors make for great cinematic shots with those 93 medium turrets firing.
Oh also thought I'd add that you can put a custom .png in C:\Users\"Username"\Documents\Egosoft\X4\"Numbers"\logos to use as your personal logo. You have to create the logos directory as it isn't there by default. We need a custom TERRA INVICTA or TERMINUS logo.
The Roleplay considerations are what really REALLY attracts me to this channel. The way you actually create Purpose and weigh choices against that Purpose. The way you want "everyone to know it's Terra Invicta's Fleet Arm that has their back" - even though those "everyone" are just bits on a ram chip and would love you just the same even if you dropped the RP entirely. THIS kind of commitment that is concrete, meaningful and impacts the gameplay and your narration, but doesn't cross the line over to LARP. I LOVE THIS APPROACH.
More like neutral, evil would have started the war for the sake of it or entirely for personal gain. Terra Invicta is the result of one agents frustrations with the galaxy not really taking an existential threat seriously and his own governments incompetence. Plus he hasn’t started exterminating anyone for being themselves, is creating actual stable and functional economic systems that provide safety and comfort for all and is actively engaged in planet scale philanthropic exercises when none of the other polities can even be arsed to do anything other than fight each other or enslave their neighbours. The way I see Terra Invicta are the closest thing to good guys as you can get shady political shenanigans aside.
All the role playing consideration made me wonder whether Perun is a TTRPG player and if so, I really, really envy the people who get to play with him.
Same. On the one hand Perun and I seem to have pretty much the same taste in games, on the other I'd really appreciate it if Perun stopped selling me games :P. For anyone who's curious, the base game plus the game-altering DLC (so not the soundtracks) came out to about $61 for me, including tax.
Jack leaned back and studied the maps provided by his contact within Naval Intelligence with a sharp gaze. “So. The vermin are taking advantage of human distraction.” “Essentially correct,” the uniformed Terra Invicta representative stated. “The Xenon are a reactive threat, they may have grown beyond their programming, but not by much. It is Command’s belief that the Kha’ak and Yaki are a more subtle systemic threat.” Jack lit his cigarette and leaned back. “Agreed. I already have agents in place to address the issues in the neutral sectors. The Syndicate have also been a thorn in my side that the Unification War can help me redress.” Jack’s expression grew icy. “The Riptide Rakers are human after all. And I’ve tolerated the vise of the Syndicate for as long as I am willing to. The Martian Forges are taxed with the war. But I have a few cards up my sleeve.” A half dozen station schematics sprung into existence around the table, spread across multiple sectors. The Invicta fleet representative raised an eyebrow and Jack smiled. “I call my plan aggressive archaeology. Tell me, what do you know of the designs of the previous eras?”
The implied joke is that Aggressive Archaeology was always Harper’s plan. This is like many things, a nod to the idea that perhaps… just perhaps… This isn’t Jack’s first go around. And maybe he remembers where he went wrong the first time. He also probably is deeply impressed by Bozo.

In regards to the 3 identified strategic threats and opportunites identified (The Split, The Paranid and The Syndicate). My assessment is as thus: 1. The Split appear to be both the most vulnerable to a surprise attack and most antithetical to Terran sensibilities and goals. Most vulnerable due to the majority of their resources coming from Family Kritz?(the sector under constand Xenon attack) which has not only been considerably softened up by the aforementioned attacks, but had also given you the justification to place a large number of fleet elements in the sector and a possibly a great deal of local goodwill and contacts. This location is essential to the split for all ghe reasons you mentioned in the previous Powerpoint Presentation and seizing it would be a devastating blow to the Split, especially at the beginning of hostilities. 2. The Paranid situation is very different. Consolidated, experienced and numerous, there doesnt appear to be a good way to inflict any meaningful damage on either without tipping the scales of their civil war. My opinion would be to leave the situation for last and to hope that nothing happens that results in a unified Paranid faction. 3. The Syndicate represents more of an opportunity than a threat. With you correctly pointing out that they are sitting on many incredibly valuable sectors, and having seemingly shown little interest in expanding. They are however the hardest to crack given the concentration of their forces. The benefits of liberating the sector remain high however, with not only the potential resources but the incredible PR opportunity it represents. My suggestion is to take each threat separately. Starting with The Split, delivering them a heavy blow at the start of a conflict while they are still weakened from the Xenon incursions, and proceeding to divide and decapitate each sector's ability to defend itself. Next I would suggest prioritising the liberation of the Avarice sectors, after Terminus having cut its teeth on both the Xenon and the Split, your doctrine and operational experience should make the expected fighter swarm relatively simple to deal with. Finally, I would start assessing how to deal with the Paranid. The resources of Avarice would likely be an excellent help in forging a fleet large and powerful enough to engage both Paranid Factions, leaving them fighting both eachother and you on seperate fronts. Removing the possibility of any attack on your part on one side breaking the apparent equilibrium they have settled into.
When dealing with Khaak and later Vigor Syndicate fighter spam I highly recommend turning to your Boron allies for their carrier fleets. Boron Thresher gunships are excellent at tearing apart swarming fighters with arc turrets, particularly when deployed in groups with overlapping fire (Being turret-based also limits the effect of A.I derp). Even a basic un-upgraded Thresher with T1 components like the one you start with in the Queens Herald origin can pretty much go balls deep into 5-1 Khaak swarms and win easily with plenty of shield left. Boron Carriers are, as you have pointed out yourself, incredibly tough and able to withstand constant pressure from a swarm better than most (if any) alternatives.
Point to remember is that the reason the guppy is the only "light carrier" is because all the other faction's destroyers act as light carriers. The E variants don't, but the older destroyers tend to be capable of carrying large fighter complements(40 for all but the Ray which has 4). They act like destroyers, tend to have painfully slow launch/recover(Syn/Osaka/Rattlesnake have 1 pad, Phoenix/Odysseus have 2 pads, Behemoth has 4. Not sure about launch tubes), and are best used with bombers set to bombard or small pickets with a CAP under protect location orders.
@@thatdollfin3369 It's especially potent for bombers. Behemoth sentinel only has 4 pads, but how many bombers do you need slamming torps in to wreck a cap? 4 at a time is fine. Meanwhile, if you use protection location, assigned S/M are used as a CAP and only land to repair/rearm.

So, in my run, I have a 'Heart for Pirates' quest, which indicates that if you clear the Xenon from the Hatikvah-Getsu Fune arc, they *stop* being Pirates. I got the Quest from Dal physically at the HQ, so maybe just do that to see if it triggers? Edit: It's also possible that the ARG-PAR-HOP situation is more that of Co-belligerants than formal Alliance.
While the dialogs and even the quest log indicate the Yaki to go legitimate and move to be a proper faction with the "Heart for Pirates", they do not. Unfortunately. Tried it myself. They remain sitting in their single pirate base. And their ships continue marauding. Funnily enough right in front of my shipyard where they (and other factions) fight small skirmishes with freshly bought ships.
I suggest acquiring some split Raptors for use against the Vigor Syndicate. Fight fighters with fighters and a mountain of turrets for good measure. Also Raptors make for great cinematic shots with those 93 medium turrets firing.
Loving this playthrough and the ultimate commitment to the bit. It's fun comparing your playthrough to mine. The Xenon have been rent asunder from the network south thanks primarily due to Pontifex influence (I can only presume this is because the mass of defensive emplacements in Second Contact II that blunted them forced them to reconsider) and Antigone interdiction. And now Shanix Heavy Industries has sole mining rights to Mists of Artemis & Atiya's Misfortune III, with a joint extraction agreement with Antigone over Atiya's Misfortune I. Surprisingly enough, the Teladi have managed to wipe out the Scale Plate _and_ Xenon in the east, save for a holdout in Matrix #9. Of course, if you read the dark gateweb, you'll see the usual conspiracies that SHI paid off the Teladi for sole access to Matrix #9, but that's just wacko talk. And the battlefleet sitting at every exit of Vigor Syndicate territory with a dozen freighters overstuffed with food and medical supplies waiting behind them speaks for itself. But the Split... well. I didn't pay enough industrial attention and now that Xenon have pushed the Split back to just Zyarth's Dominion IV & X, and Wretched Skies V. I can't say I'm _completely_ cut up about that, but it does mean I have to play advanced cleanup. And I got cocky, sending an Asgard and a half dozen Osakas out to establish a foothold. They're currently stuck in a Xenon ambush that I'm sure they'll survive if no more Xenon capitals show up. But with a furball that'd make the Syndicate blush, they're not going to be able to leave before more caps show up. While I sit here at work waiting for this anticheat script to run, I'm contemplating my next moves and my future battlefleet design. More importantly I'm trying to figure out how to save my capitals. Might recruit some Teladi mercenaries, they'll put up enough of a fight for the right price. Given me some good things to think about. Appreciate it, top.
Brilliantly done, utterly enthralling I have watched it I think three times at this point & will do again after posting this can not wait for either the next episode or getting to play the game myself. No doubt with out Perun's consummate skill mind you.
Absolutely loving these episodes. If you consider doing another run in the future, might I suggest a Split (or mercenary) working for the Zyarth? With the Xenon threat so close to valuable mining spots, their extreme starting position and relative isolation from other friendly factions would lend itself to a gritty campaign of triage and difficult choices. I think that would be a blast to watch.
The Teladi ships are really good for doing one thing over and over again. If you want to L transport eg. energy cells out of a high productive zone into your logistics network the Heron is a beast for doing it. The Crane is maybe the best all round L miner too. Profitsss.
Your barbarossa fleet has larger combined turrret output than some smaller factions combined in extremely short order. And like in few hours you just select the entire "trader fleet" and purge xenon sectors with single click. And then what happened next is that industrialization of space got slightly out of hand.
I got this game because of this series. It’s fun to see how things have diverged significantly between my game and this one. HOP and ANT cleared-out all those systems near Mists of Artemis without my doing anything, for one, with the help of some of the intervention fleet. HOP and PAR are starting to play nicer with each other, I think, having played a bit of that storyline and…oh god I wish I hadn’t pulled the trigger on VIG because they HATE me now and that fighter spam HURTS. XD
I was able to deal with the vigor syndicate fighter spam with a single ship: the Astrid. Load it up with 100 laser turrets at your wharf, go to vigor territory just inside the jump gate and drop all 100 turrets, them do it again for each access point. The absurd speed and shield strength means you can tank a LOT of hits while dropping your turrets then get out of dodge. Eventually they stop flying into the turret field but if you just fly up to a station and back out again you will agro them into the kill box. Once you've killed the swarm send in the heavies to mop up. As a bonus this leads to dozens of fighters free for the taking after the pilot ejects since laser turrets deal damage over time instead of just popping the ships.
Just started watching this channel, and I'm enjoying it immensely. Though I must say, am I the only one that hopes Perun works for ADF intelligence in real life?
20:39 you may want to consider terran frigates over terran corvettes as they are a lot more maneuverable while maintaining "the punch". _price_ shouldn't be an issue as you're roleplaying terran already.
I really like how in this universe Perun can have both a macro economics presentation about himself. But every ship crew now expects him to just teleport onto their ship to handle a situation. Not sure it's micromanagement if they're the ones who turn up, do the work, and then teleport away.
Its still micromanagment but its what they think they are where they see an issue, turns up and solves it and then heads off to the next one and everyone goes: "Wow what a cool person they really helped us out!" compared to the usual of them turning up, making a mess of everything and then leaving satisfied when everyone else is thinking: "Wow they really made a mess of everything and now we have to clean it up and STILL have to do our original work. I dont know how they still have a job!"
@@TheRealZeemaster Might also be you're a bit nervous fighting the xenon for the first time; the captain looks a little green. *Sudden flash of light* Your CEO special agent turns up, helms the ship as he explains why this action is so important to the overall effort against the xenon; and outlines the plan to construct battlefleets to drive the xenon back. As soon as the battles won, he's teleports away.
The one improvement I wish they'd make for carrier operations is to automate a lot of the minutiae. If a carrier loses a fighter, there should be automations to requisition a new one of a given spec from a shipyard. Similar things for resupplying.
PPT Wednesdays is here))) woohoo. I just had a root canal procedure, this could not have come at a better time to distract me. This is better than painkillers)
Based on how you handled the Yaki story, you should have the 'A heart for pirates' quest. If you do that, the Yaki become a normal faction, but as far as i know they do not expand or give missions. You can just trade with them. I haven't really seen them go on a piracy spree either, but that might be because they are so isolated on one side and TER has locked down Getsu Fune on the other side. I don't think the Sapporo's radar range will be used if the ship is not leading the fleet. If you want the Sapporo to protect the carrier, I would assign it as 'defend commander' instead of the follow command.
You could make transport convoys with a mix of the Barbarossas, and the other transport ships as well as a few not many but some Corvette classes and small carriers
Honestly @PerunGamingAU, this is a perfect playthrough. Which is its greatest fault. Because I, personally, would have watched 100 episodes of you stomping around this game. But I think we have only 3-4 episodes until the xenon are obliterated. And what a tragedy that is…
I'd love to see you roleplay the Split start. And maybe go down a less principled, more pirate friendly path. Its the other half the the X universe experience.
There is an eve online veteran somewhere who will absolutely crunch every number imaginable in this scenario and have 6 different spreadsheets showing you the exact breakdown of how to bring Terra Invictan diplomacy yo the galaxy
The Vigor Syndicate seem intent on minding their own business, but you said you wanted their space and roleplay content. In that case I'd say do either split or vigor syndicate first leaving the Paranid for last - if they're the toughest to deal with it will be more interesting to do them last rather than steamrolling a weak faction at the end of the game
The Split are the most obviously evil faction but I bet fighting The Syndicate be more interesting and COIN like. Plus it could make for a more interesting story to set up something of an independent government in their territory.
Oooh i always acted to try and keep the Yaki around. But them being pirates changes things. Now i have a reason for why i should "incorporate" them into my own faction. Give Terra some more sectors
My underhanded, greedy goals make Yaki my favourite faction. Sell them ships and watch them clear out competition, without getting your own hands dirty at all :D
Split - fuck the Split. Going after the Boron? Total Split Death. (Or whatever is appropriate.) Paranid - Sounds like they can wait, honestly. Syndicate - ...honestly, sounds like we could use the territory, and could help people the most immediately. My vote goes for them. Please give the Split a proper wedgie at some point, though.
Please forgive the petty remark, but since you care about accurate pronunciation of all sorts of foreign words (which is very nice of you), I couldn't help about a particular thing - in German the eu diphthong is pronounced "oi", so the scientist's name along with all the stuff named after him sounds like "Fon Noimann", just like Europe is "Oiropa", etc.
Actually, the Split option sounds more like a Quick Action vessel, were you have several hot spots in close proximity to each other that it can help alleviate some of those problems 🤔🤨🧐
Loving this series! It's gotten me into the game and provided a great benchmark against my own activities. One thing I'm noticing is that your trading income is far out-pacing my own - would you be able to devote a portion of a future episode to logistics and trading? Seeing 7 million in pending trade activity is staggering and I'd really like to see how you're setting this up. I've been dabbling in a trade station network with so-so results. Have you tried this approach ever?

So, in my run, I have a 'Heart for Pirates' quest, which indicates that if you clear the Xenon from the Hatikvah-Getsu Fune arc, they *stop* being Pirates. I got the Quest from Dal physically at the HQ, so maybe just do that to see if it triggers?
Edit: It's also possible that the ARG-PAR-HOP situation is more that of Co-belligerants than formal Alliance.
Well that would work very nicely with Terran interests. And maybe bring some more of humanity back into the fold.
Long may the sun shine
i have a deep rooted hatred for the khaak dating back to x2 . seeing them get annihilated is making me very heppy
Never forget President's End!
I suggest acquiring some split Raptors for use against the Vigor Syndicate. Fight fighters with fighters and a mountain of turrets for good measure. Also Raptors make for great cinematic shots with those 93 medium turrets firing.
I can't get enough of this. Btw X4 is currently on discount on steam
POWERPOINT PRESENTATION YEAAAAHHHH
2 to 4 Raptors with a mix of fighters and bombers would be a pretty formidable assault carrier group.
Voting for the removal of the Syndicate first.
A Shark named ATCS-Dropbear would be epic
As someone who loves a good to do list, this absolutely hits the spot!
The Teladi ships are really good for doing one thing over and over again. If you want to L transport eg. energy cells out of a high productive zone into your logistics network the Heron is a beast for doing it.
The Crane is maybe the best all round L miner too.
Profitsss.
Loved the detailed Fleet Composition breakdown!
I think I'm in love with you Perun your content is beautiful, pleasing and weirdly relaxing.
Your barbarossa fleet has larger combined turrret output than some smaller factions combined in extremely short order.
And like in few hours you just select the entire "trader fleet" and purge xenon sectors with single click.
And then what happened next is that industrialization of space got slightly out of hand.
Defence procurement PowerPoint my beloved
As a bonus this leads to dozens of fighters free for the taking after the pilot ejects since laser turrets deal damage over time instead of just popping the ships.
great episode, I do love the slides shows!
Just started watching this channel, and I'm enjoying it immensely. Though I must say, am I the only one that hopes Perun works for ADF intelligence in real life?
Nice to see the evacuation plan executed. great for PR and great for the goal of 10k workers is space.
Raptor vs shark reminds me of American vs British carriers in WW2
6:21 - “P(e)run a couple sectors” 😂
*Sudden flash of light*
Your CEO special agent turns up, helms the ship as he explains why this action is so important to the overall effort against the xenon; and outlines the plan to construct battlefleets to drive the xenon back.
As soon as the battles won, he's teleports away.
Fantasic x4 content. Well presented!
nice, the power point man is back with another gripping slide deck!
After "Because we don't face the greatest limitation that they all have to deal with" i was expecting "Bureaucracy"😂.
The one improvement I wish they'd make for carrier operations is to automate a lot of the minutiae. If a carrier loses a fighter, there should be automations to requisition a new one of a given spec from a shipyard. Similar things for resupplying.
All hail the Powerpoint Presentation!
Powerpoints for the Powerpoint God!
Praise be to the fictional battle plan power points.
My weekly dose of PowerPoint has arrived
Mankind must be united!
Impressive work
PPT Wednesdays is here))) woohoo. I just had a root canal procedure, this could not have come at a better time to distract me. This is better than painkillers)
You'd be right at home in Nebulous in Conquest as the logistics handler. Whenever the Conquest gets finished anyway.
POWER POINT! POWER POINT! POWER POINT! POWER POINT! POWER POINT! WOO!
You could make transport convoys with a mix of the Barbarossas, and the other transport ships as well as a few not many but some Corvette classes and small carriers
Oh yeah, that's the good shit.
I think the Syndicate storyline would be nice to start with. It could provide a home system for your corporation
Honestly @PerunGamingAU, this is a perfect playthrough. Which is its greatest fault. Because I, personally, would have watched 100 episodes of you stomping around this game. But I think we have only 3-4 episodes until the xenon are obliterated. And what a tragedy that is…
Does anybody else giggle a bit with every mention of the Ka'ack?
I'd love to see you roleplay the Split start. And maybe go down a less principled, more pirate friendly path. Its the other half the the X universe experience.
For a good 15 seconds I thought I accidently clicked real life Perun and not gaming Perun.
Support carrier? Please name at least one Unicorn for the historical nod.
Also, what naming convention are you going with for the fleet?
There is an eve online veteran somewhere who will absolutely crunch every number imaginable in this scenario and have 6 different spreadsheets showing you the exact breakdown of how to bring Terra Invictan diplomacy yo the galaxy
The Vigor Syndicate seem intent on minding their own business, but you said you wanted their space and roleplay content. In that case I'd say do either split or vigor syndicate first leaving the Paranid for last - if they're the toughest to deal with it will be more interesting to do them last rather than steamrolling a weak faction at the end of the game
Why do I feel like this is somehow the closest slide show to being Perun at work at his day job?
Just in case someone here wants to skip the best part: 31:49
The Split are the most obviously evil faction but I bet fighting The Syndicate be more interesting and COIN like. Plus it could make for a more interesting story to set up something of an independent government in their territory.
Clicked faster knowing there was a PowerPoint, Perun.
(Or whatever is appropriate.)
Paranid - Sounds like they can wait, honestly.
Only clicked the video for the powerpoint.
Obviously a joke, I have been enjoying the series greatly.
You know, a powerpoint without a sponsor is kind of weird. But at least it's a Powerpoint.
I believe the Yaki become friendly to the closest factions when they become a normal faction
Yes, fleet comp PWP is great :D
19:28 Is that a skull and bones on the bow of the Split freighter?
Hi Perun. Really liking this series.
Quick question: what are you planning to do with the sectors you own in the galactic southeast?
Love it.
Seal clubbing intensifies!
Yay! power point.
Protect the Boron, Burn the Split
