- Many people have been waiting for this: The Novation Launchpad Pro Mk3 is now supported for Bitwig Studio! Also some new goodies which I ported back to the other Launchpad models.
Install DrivenByMoss to get the support. Get it from: mossgrabers.de
I cannot thank you enough for this Herr Moßgraber - my workflow with Push 2 and Ableton 10 was never so satisfying. I am so glad I have switched to bitwig and that a mind like yours has risen to the task of making these new controllers accessible. Phenomenal work!
Awesome! Just got hold of the MK3! it's waaay better!
Here are my Feature Requests for the Drum Sequencer to make it more performance friendly:
-Silently select Drum pad
-Mute Drum Pad
-Solo Drum Pad
-Performance macros ( pressure control of the device remote 8 parameters, Elektron style )
Oh wow - scenes - like pad pressure tied to macros. Genius
Can't wait for my launchpads to arrive. One pro for bitwig and one mini for my eurorack.
This is just amazing! Big thanks for your work!
Thank you so much for building this extension! :D Just got the Launchpad X and it's working beautifully!
Amazing jurgen tanx just what I need .... this launch pad is definitely the legit control for bitwig
Great work , much appreciated !!!
Brilliant work!
Thanks for all your hard work!🙏
Thanks for your work 👍
Really great work, very excited to see all these new features!
Jürgen you rock!
I bought a launchpad because of this video! Then of course I learned that my Push 2 works great with DBM... so now I have 2 amazing controllers with Bitwig... thank you so much!!! PS have you ever seen a Pioneer DDJ-XP1? Just wondering! 😈
Sorry, no. I am not into DJing.
Yes! Was waiting for this! Great job!
großartig! vielen dank, jürgen! 🤘
This is great! Thanks so much!
Great job!
Genial! Danke Jürgen!
Hey awesome work man! I just purchased this, I was wondering if you can use this for finger drumming, like on the mpc 1000 or something like spin Scott does, instead of loops etc
Trebor Hceem Sure. Watch the whole Launchpad playlist, you can use either the drum sequencer mode or the drum 64 mode.
@@mossgraber thanks a lot man! Appreciate the help!
Is there a way to use the Launchpad Pro MK3 with the native functionality? That is for it to work the same as it does on Ableton Live, except just using it on Bitwig. For example, keeping Note, Chord, Sequencer, and Session modes the same as it works in Ableton?
Not with my implementaion.
In Bitwig you can add a Generic controller and set its MIDI input to be the output of your LPP MK3. This lets you use the "standalone" modes of the LPP MK3 (e.g. Note, Chord) as you are already used to.
Amazing!
Finally! :) Thank you :)
Where have you been all my life?
Hi Jürgen, sorry to ask for help but I have hit a wall trying to get this to work. Bought a pro mk3 brand new, using windows 10 with latest Bitwig. Extension installed and it was auto recognised, and selected the correct I/O as per your instructions. Searched everywhere to see how I can set it to midi channel 1, but in it’s midi settings there’s just a couple of global settings. However I read by default it is set to Ch1 anyway. One thing I noticed was that the Session button on the top is not illuminated, nor is the notation logo in the top right corner, which might suggest the connection with the extension is not actually live. Any troubleshooting tips would be hugely appreciated. Thank you
Philip Doig Did you install the latest firmware with the components app?
@@mossgraber Legend, always something obvious!
Bahhahaha! I did exactly the same thing, but read down through the help requests to discover this little gem. Thanks Jurgen! I purchased the Pro because of this video. Fantastic work mate.
Hello, got same issue, I/o are good. latest update done but unable to verify if this send to channel 1?
Where can I see the step by step installation of DrivenByMoss? You could show it here.
An installation video is linked on the download page of DrivenByMoss...
This is awesome! Thanks for your work. I'm using a Launchpad Pro Mk3, one question I had is that when in the Tempo or Swing selection pages, the arrow keys are not allowing me to change the tempo? Is there a fix for this?
Also, I've noticed on the 'Chord' mode, the chord voices above the root note are slightly delayed from the root note, making played chords sound more like strums, is there any way to make all voices in the chord trigger at the same time? There also seems to be an issue with velocity where the root note of the chord is always sent at full velocity, with all other notes in the chord reacting to pad velocity.
Thanks for letting me know! Tempo and swing will be fixed in the next update. Regarding the note delay there is sadly nothing I can do about it. The velocity issue will also be fixed (note that you have Accent activated, the bug is actually that the additional values do not respect this setting).
Hi! Thanks for the scripts! I was wondering if you knew why I cannot change the tempo just like you do here. I was allowed to at the beginning I’m not sure if I pressed something I should have not
It's a bug. Will be fixed in the next update.
is it possible to change your color layouts to something more similar to the boring default color schemes novation shipped with, but with you're lovely mapping? mainly just the ring of function buttons :3 or how difficult is it to manipulate? great work as always moss~
They are not configurable. You can change it easily in the code if you can program a bit.
i just bought the pro 3 and am trying to figure it out with moss's script. Does anyone know if you still get all the chord and scale features with moss's script as shown on novations adverts? trying to figure all this out is hurting my head
No, my implementation uses the programmers mode of the Launchpad and has nothing to do with the hardware features. But there is a chord mode as well, see the DrivenByMoss manual and the tutorial videos on my channel.
@@mossgraber ok will check it. Thanks bro 👍
In session mode, is there no way to stop a clip playing, short or have an empty scene to select empty clips from?
On an X, not a pro that is
@@andytuke8986 On the X activate the Stop clip row. To do so press Shift (the Capture MIDI button) and then the Stop Clip button (the 5th scene button which is labelled Stop Clip).
@@mossgraber Aha, I see it in the manual now. Could the controller not be configured to have the 8 x 8 session grid start and stop the clips when you hit the pads instead of losing a row for separate 'stop' pads?
How does one memorize all this? I'm now to launchpads but I have to say I cannot get used to this workflow at all.
🙂 Start slowly. Make yourself familiar with the play mode and drum sequencer first. Then maybe check out the session grid and then dive into the other sequencers and modes. Finally, read the manually for all the little details.
@@mossgraber Thanks, I will spend this nice Sunday learning :-)
Any thoughts on Launchpad X vs Pro Mk3 using this script? I'm new at this stuff, coming from. years of linear DAWs like PT and Studio One. Will I regret buying the X even at half the price?
If money is not the issue get the Pro. The additional buttons imrpove the workflow a lot.
How do I add a device to a current device? Manual says to use shift + device key but on the pro, shift + device is a tempo button. Thanks
Open the browser with the device button. Then use the cursor up/down button to switch the insert location to before or after.
@@mossgraber thanks a lot! great work you're doing here.
Hi Jürgen,
Would this kind of mapping be possible for the Maschine DAW with a Launchpad Pro MK3 similar to what the Maschine Jam does (except for searching the instruments library)?
Native Instruments just discontinued the Maschine Jam and people are worried about future updates :s
No, Maschine does not have an open API. With non-Maschine controllers you can only do simple things like playing and starting the clips/scenes.
Damn!
Thank you very much for your answer and for taking the time to develop cool stuff for the community 👍
has it a clip launcher mode ?
Yes. Checkout the full playlist and manual for all info: ua-cam.com/play/PLqRWeSPiYQ660Tpdr6nQh8wrQbZjqwWML.html
So would this custom mapping/firmware work in a Linux environment? I run LinuxMint and am considering getting Launchpad Pro MK3 and this is pretty essential for using it within Bitwig. Thank you for making such a thing and please let me know if this will work within Linux! :)
Yes, all the controllers I support work on Linux as well. Except the NI stuff which requires their specific software.
@@mossgraber many thanks! Pretty much sold on the pro now
is there also a way to set the scale?
Yes, in the play mode use the scene and cursor buttons to configure the different options (see the manual for details).
Hey Moss! Would there be any chance to get the "print to clip" functionality that the lp pro gets on ableton?
I use the "programming mode" of the LP which disables all of the native LP features. So this is not possible. But I am not sure why you would need it? You can already duplicate clips in the session view.
What about using it as a clip launcher for bitwig?
Sure, that works too :-) To see all features watch the whole playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLqRWeSPiYQ660Tpdr6nQh8wrQbZjqwWML.html
Hey this is great. Ive just started using Bitwig and I was thinking of buying one of these.. Will this still allow me to have my own chord/scale layout pages? or will this limit me in how I can configure the pad to my own layouts?
Since I use the programmer mode, you cannot use the hardware setup. But DrivenByMoss gives you many options, several scales and layouts are included and the pro models also have a user mode where you can map any parameter.
@@mossgraber Regarding using the Pro in Bitwig 3, can I use the stock pro mk3 and set it up to be able to select tracks and use the custom scale/chord maps ive seen in other demos? I only really want to use it as a track select/keyboard/ drum pad/transport control with track select but im worried about its Bitwig compatibility.
@@MrCshmn Yes, you can do that (simply add a generic controller device). But for e.g. controlling volume you have to manually map them for each song indivdually (or store them in a Bitwig template).
@@mossgraber Thanks for the info. It looks like a solid buy no matter how I try to use it.
Hello, i am not sure if i have things setup right but launching pads is really confusing since they are all orange unless they are tiggered, and the clips are in the opposite direction of the tracks which make too puzzling to know whtat i am triggering .is this how it is supposed to be or are they settings i am missing? Thank you!
First make sure that you have installed the latest Firmware (check with Novations' Components App). You can toggle the direction of the clips by pressing the Session button again when you are already in Session mode.
@@mossgraber Thank you, i had to get the latest extensions from you as well to make it work, this great but i am hoping one day bitwig would create something like the akai force / push with screen for total integration , i am sure they would love to get there own controllers…thank you again , you always on top of things!
Well, guess I'm buying a Launchpad Pro Mk3
My session button is dark like.. it's not on. Do you know what could be the issue? I tried unplugging and switching usb spots. I tried firmware update as well.
But the button is working? Could it be a defect of the LED? Can you make it light in standalone mode?
@@mossgraber hi I figure it out. It had to do the firmware update. Thanks for the quick response and all the hard work!
Does the note ratcheting work in the sequencer like with Ableton? Thanks 👍
What do you mean with „ratcheting“?
@@mossgraber the sub sequencing, where each step can be up to six steps.
@@mossgraber on the loopop review he calls it micro steps ua-cam.com/video/MtVh2-VDEJ8/v-deo.html
@@mossgraber what about probability and mutations? Is that working with Bitwig?
What can i do to remap for my launchpad 1st model? bwextension file is compiled file or something else?
Be warned, this is complex stuff. If you want to take a look, the source code is here: github.com/git-moss/DrivenByMoss I also have a multi-part "Bitwig Controller API Tutorial" on my channel if you want to dive into Bitwig API development.
