There was a dude that use to skate at my local park that was a sponsored am. I know I have seen him a time or two take off his shoes and skate. Said his shoes were “bothering him”. Didn’t do a ton of flip tricks. It gave me anxiety.
You don't need to use the triggers to turn the board to a board/tail/nose slide you can just straight ollie then use the stick input to turn the board in the air. You do obviously however need to use the triggers for a 180/360/etc.
I played session before skater xl and tbh I love both games. But the customization with the tricks in skater xl made me play the game more. I’d say I have more hours played in session but skater xl has been my go to since it’s more playable. Session is going to get a whole new skate physics facelift tho so I’m really excited
A couple of barriers or learning curves in this game. First is the timing of tricks before grinds/airs, in SkaterXL you can often pop even if you go over the ledge, this game will let you know very quickly that you can't do that, pop half a second earlier than you would in SXL. Then is controlling the rotation of your dude with the triggers. Then when you get really technical controlling the rotation/coop speed/direction and pop height. Pop Height especially out of manuals can be very hard, because if yo do it too quickly you barely pop at all. THAT SAID. IF you get the hang of it, get the "click" like you say, it becomes incredibly fun and consistent. I feel if they get the physics a bit better (in the update that they are working on) then it could be close to perfection. I do hope that they add high pop to this game (yes I know you can baby pop and stuff in this game) by holding both triggers down. Some ledges are too hard to get onto, even though they don't seem to be that high. EDIT: Also, in options -> gameplay -> flip tricks. So you can set board control mode to manual, flip speed to input speed and scoop speed to input speed. That give you a lot of control. And put scoop input mode on normal. That makes it so quarter of the scoop with the stick keeps it 180 and quarter/half of a scoop with the stick is 360. It gives you so much control. You can also turn on late flips there. That's awesome. Also, last thing. There are trick names in the game. And tapping A/X rapidly will make you push very fast, for big gaps. Last last thing. You can do impossible/front foot impossible, by doing a tre-flip/noli tre but instead of flicking you front foot forward you flick it backward. It's awesome.
My only gripe is with the trick names, they flipped FS and BS for goofy, hopefully is gets fixed in the next update, probably just a couple lines of code that were glossed over
I’m excited for version 0.0.0.6. There will be board wear, truck size will affect grinds, wheel size affects speed, new physics, loose trucks can cause wheel bite, and truck tightness affects grind pinch.
Glad you're getting better at the game :) The reason you're having trouble with shoves might be because your scoop input mode is set to Small. Set it to Normal and it will work a lot better
All of those boards are from roger skateboards in Austin. Michael seiben does all their art and he’s a very prolific artist in skating , many of his works can be seen in thrasher for the past several decades
ive been playing skater xl for a bit after sinking hundreds of hours into session and there's definitely some stuff to like about it, but jeez its a lot easier. I can play the game with one hand!
Same. I got hope for sessions though. I am mostly salty at how stiff everythings is. I think it is a pretty fun game. But skater XL is currently the one.
You can change the scooping mode from 'small' to 'normal' in gameplay options. It makes it so you have to do quarter scoops for 180 shuvs and half scoops 360. Makes it easier to not overscoop your tricks by mistake, Also check out the manual catch and board control settings too. They're difficult to get used to but it makes tricks feel very satisfying to get.
Yo Garrett two thing - 1) mess with the settings in Session, you can customize rotations/flick speed/scoop etc. 2) you can use the bus stops in Session to get around the map
I went from session to skater xl and it made skater xl extremely easy to play and learn. The fact session let's you change your wheels and board size and skate xl doesn't is upsetting for sure
PRO TIP you can jump left and right when doing tricks....like...actually skateboarding... when stationary. you can kick flip and jump behind you, or infront. hold the pop stick to the left or right. then flick left or right to kick flip. you go parrallel to what you are skating in real life. then hold left stick right, then right stick right and then right stick right to do a kick flip nose/tail. this has made the game exponentially easier knowing this.
The angle of the sticks move when in tail/nose slide. To ollie out straight you have to go right to left not down to up. If you want to kick flip you have to go right to up not down to right.
I started with Session. It is a solid game in it's own right. Down the line, I got Skater XL, and I _rarely_ go back to Session. For me, the biggest thing is, in Session, it feels like you're skating underwater or something, it's like, sluggish in a way that is hard to describe, whereas Skater XL just feels so fluid.
Crea~ture Studios have stated that their next update with have a complete physics overhaul so the game is gonna look a lot better. Plus they have a lot of other stuff they are including in the update.
Gave a it a shot after playing skater xl for so long dude... i used to actually love sessions but now that i got back on i literally fuckin hate it now after 10 mins of tryna play it
Just letting you know you can have a trick list pop on screen, go to the experimental settings and u can turn it on there just thought I would let you know Garrett
You will like each game for different reasons. Im a session fanboy but I am loving XL because the editor works a little better. You can keyframe, bro. However, you can't angle the camera/tilt it in XL, and that detracts from the quality, y'know?
Feel like session forgot to put wax on any of the ledges and rails. And it seems like you’re skating 10 year old seized up bearings 😂. Definitely has potential though, will be keen to give it another shot once it gets finished
i have a request next time you try this do the challenges to see how fustrated im am sometimes doing them also learn impossibles and late flips in this are so enjoyable
You should play bmx streets pipe your bumpers are your hands and your triggers are your feet and right stick is what you would do to imput tricks. So a barspin would be left bumper then down with the right stick after bunny hopping and a tailwhip would be both triggers in and left or right with the stick. It's like a mix of skater XL's foot system and skate 3's flick it system and has a huge modding community on pc
So, I haven't skated for 10 years and picking up this game and Skater XL I always try to emulate tricks like Chris Troys old parts. You know, a lot of big spins, big spin board, nose slides, etc. But, I am a bit confused when playing these games... I was always under the impression that a big spin was a 360 shuv with a 180 body rotation. The game keeps calling them "bigger spins". Big spins in the game are a sing shuv and a 180 body rotation. When I skated, this was not what me and everyone in the community called big spins. Using the games logic, a 360 flip with a 180 body rotation should be called a bigger flip, because it's a 360 board rotation with a kickflip. Growing up a 360 shuv and 180 body rotation was a big spin/flip. A "bigger spin/flip" was a 540 shuv with a 180 body rotation. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.
My biggest issue with Session is that it's basically the same idea as Skater XL with slightly different controls that would throw my brain off after 1,000,000 hours in Skater XL.
I been tryna tell ppl that I like session controls better some of it's more realistic n make more sense to me maybe cause I played it first but still In reality some of them are more realistic
Hey random idea it would be sick if you made a video showing your favorite spots on the main maps. I play on console and i am getting bored with the same spots. Love the vids

Play a black screen on the tv to honor the times that we didn't have it
Play tony hawk any of his games on the channel like throwback Thursday

No a compilation of all the trailers for 1+2
Yea
Creatures studios is in the process of revamping the physics according to their insta. Next update should be pretty tight
When is an update supposed to come?
I already saw a preview of it!! This will kill skater XL and I love skater XL.
emilio olivas Do you have a Link or something?
@@Nightshade1881 lmao ya right
mightyerick seriously dude session might win this skate simulation war! The new update is crazy good, huge improvement
You don't need to use the triggers to turn the board to a board/tail/nose slide you can just straight ollie then use the stick input to turn the board in the air. You do obviously however need to use the triggers for a 180/360/etc.
Using the triggers is pretty much essential on flip in tricks though cos it only starts turning after you catch it

Thank God he's giving it a chance. I think this is way further along then skater xl and half the price.

I understand how you feel, when you were les park. It took me at least 5 hours to get it down but it’s so good.cant wait to see you learn manual mode
Glad you're getting better at the game :) The reason you're having trouble with shoves might be because your scoop input mode is set to Small. Set it to Normal and it will work a lot better

First I really like session, then I tried skater xl and now I can't go back
Same tbh, really need to pick it up again to get used to it before the new update

Yo Garrett two thing - 1) mess with the settings in Session, you can customize rotations/flick speed/scoop etc.

Play hot dog eating worldrecord on the tv
Day 3 Of asking Garrett to play footage of him sleeping in the background
YT BOUNCE 0X bro that’s just kinda creepy and stalky lmao
Felice Chamuleau right wtf lmao
Garrett you should pre order THPS 1+2 and play the warehouse demo when it drops on friday
there's an option in the game where you can change the board rotation. most people switch it to half circle to 360 shuv instead of a quarter circle
this option also makes quarter circle flicks into 180 rotations
I started with Session and loved it. Got Skater XL and played the hell out of it. Went back to Session and now it feels so hard. I can't land shit.
I went from session to skater xl and it made skater xl extremely easy to play and learn. The fact session let's you change your wheels and board size and skate xl doesn't is upsetting for sure
You can use body rotation to get into slides. You just need to press your front door up and back foot down after rotating.
It’s crazy how I was just watching you on Braille from 3 years ago
Dude mess with the control options.
Like the "scoop length" in default is way to short
bro this game is way more realistic when it comes to overrall graphics. Honestly i wish you played this more
Last time I was this early x games judges gave fair scores
tapping x or a makes you go much faster and there is a skate guide that tells you which direction the sticks go for tricks and grinds in any stance
I do recommend you to start with hardcore settings since minute 1. If you want to swap to manual settings later, it will be even harder.
To pivot tricks double click RT or LT depending on which way you want to spin.
I really missed session content, session is my actual favorite skateboarding game
Play the “White Boy...White Claws...No Laws” video you skated in. Slamming white claws and slamming mini ramp tricks!
never noticed that bowl of chop on the table until now
PRO TIP you can jump left and right when doing tricks....like...actually skateboarding...
when stationary. you can kick flip and jump behind you, or infront.
hold the pop stick to the left or right. then flick left or right to kick flip.
you go parrallel to what you are skating in real life. then hold left stick right, then right stick right and then right stick right to do a kick flip nose/tail.
this has made the game exponentially easier knowing this.
You should get into the impossibles, pressure flips, and other stuff you can't do in skater xl! Also turn on manual catch and steez out some tricks
Ok i used to hate on this game but since ive been watching you play ive grown to love it
Play Evan Smiths new DC part in the background
The angle of the sticks move when in tail/nose slide. To ollie out straight you have to go right to left not down to up. If you want to kick flip you have to go right to up not down to right.

Title: "I hated on this game too early..."
1:05 "I never not liked session"

Just letting you know you can have a trick list pop on screen, go to the experimental settings and u can turn it on there just thought I would let you know Garrett
“Oh it’s a Christmas miracle” in the middle of August
OFB💯
You can change flip and scoop speed settings and for almost all inputs in this game ...maybe that helps to improove the gameplay
sessions controls are just still so wonky i feel and locking into grinds and slides is near impossible on half their obstacles
You can also change the time of day in session
Had same issue when u pop out u have to pop out in the direction the board is facing to get a regular Ollie or else it’ll flip
I can’t wait to see what sessions gonna look like when the actual game comes out
well the game isn’t out yet, but since you’ve commented this a year ago the game has completley changed
Love the content, would definitely like to see more videos with your progression In Session!, fun game when you got it down
Double tap triggers at the end of trick to revert your trick.
You will like each game for different reasons. Im a session fanboy but I am loving XL because the editor works a little better.
You can keyframe, bro. However, you can't angle the camera/tilt it in XL, and that detracts from the quality, y'know?
Thank you for going back to Session!
Keep killing it man love all the videos
You use "edit montage" to add key frames for filming. You can save the replay with one of the basic cams from straight replay menu
Never played this. It’s looks super clunky but i like how you can actually skate small stuff.
You can add revert on land if you land in a 90° angle
2:16 youtube Garrett is serious its crushed up basil
I wish Skater XL had the crouching animations Session has :(
Session only at .5 while XL at 1.0...I’ll be on XL when I’m trying to do some skate 3 type stuff, sessions definitely for hardcore skaters
You have it completely backwards lmao sxl is the more realistic game
Go to Chatham Towers and find one of the bus stops, great session video!
Hey how it hanging. And can u put Rodney Mullen tricks on the tv?
My Feet Tingle Every Time You Do A Trick Barefoot😭 I Tried A Doing A No Pop Treflip With Slides On One Time And Split My Big Toe In Half
The ledges and rails are way stickier in session in an effort to be realistic, but sometimes it's annoying because you can't grind as far as you want
Thank you for bringing me back into skating 🤘🏻
Feel like session forgot to put wax on any of the ledges and rails. And it seems like you’re skating 10 year old seized up bearings 😂. Definitely has potential though, will be keen to give it another shot once it gets finished
i have a request next time you try this do the challenges to see how fustrated im am sometimes doing them also learn impossibles and late flips in this are so enjoyable

2 months and your up 50+K? That is phenomenal! In another 3 months you should get that silver play button.
So, I haven't skated for 10 years and picking up this game and Skater XL I always try to emulate tricks like Chris Troys old parts. You know, a lot of big spins, big spin board, nose slides, etc.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.
The movement in session kinda feels like you just slide across the floor it doesn’t feel like you’re rolling
Wooooohooooo TV's back up!!!
pov: Badland chugs is trying to escape the tv and eat Garrett
Have been waiting for another one of these!
My biggest issue with Session is that it's basically the same idea as Skater XL with slightly different controls that would throw my brain off after 1,000,000 hours in Skater XL.
The thing is, session was first. So sxl stole the idea 😉
I start my day off with this game it's the best new skate game out
This was the funniest shit I’ve seen all night
Hold whatever stick your front foot is down while doing a 3 shuv with the other stick and you'll do an impossible :--)
Def play more session love mixing it up
Play a black screen on the TV like when it was broken
Why does it sound like he is skating on bearings
After an hour of playing session I'm killing it. Console boys should all switch to session for realism.
I been tryna tell ppl that I like session controls better some of it's more realistic n make more sense to me maybe cause I played it first but still In reality some of them are more realistic
You can put in session settings trick names on
You gotta mess with the settings to make the shuvs less sensitive.
For da tv Ryan cat 10 hour loop
Hey random idea it would be sick if you made a video showing your favorite spots on the main maps. I play on console and i am getting bored with the same spots. Love the vids
In skater xl to be exact
the best none gaming channel out on youtube!
I actually thought of big flip when u said to comment a trick
do an impossible, u can do impossibles in the game if u do the 360 rotation but the right stick facing down
