B523 labeling explained.
B = 2nd release of the year (A would be 1st release)
5 = Month of release (May)
23 = Year (2023)
Let’s just agree that these are quality bourbons.
Thank you for explaining that!
Thank you for the explanation!
Thank you for the explonation!
Appreciate the explanation.
Literally just bought the Larceny B523 Barrel Proof today. Drinking it now.
I have this little game I play when I watch these videos. 1 point if Kurt says “baking spice”, 2 points if Trenton says “quintessential”, 3 points if either says “red fruit”. The scoreboard was LIT UP TONIGHT haha
Quintessential definitely a big part of the show. Also when Kurt kinda puts his hand on his chest and says “in my opinion”
Picked both of these up this past weekend. I love both of them. Great video, as always, guys. 🥃🥃
Great video, as always!
I'm new to the Bourbon world, you are my go to channel for my collection picks.
Thank you both.
It would be awesome to see a video of you all comparing tasting noted companies list for their products and the tasting notes you get when you drink them. Thank you all for the content you guys are great!
I love the double head nod as Kurt says "seeya later".
It was Quintessential
That was the most important part of the video.
I fast forwarded to the end to see it 😂 i don’t regret it.
Had the Larceny B523 last week. Really enjoyed it.

11:57 Kurt cannot deny it

12:33 QUINTESSENTIAL 3!!!! Stop teasing us!
🤣
Car horn was incredible.
Good to see you guys again!
Thanks for another great review. Love the vs. hope to pick a bottle of these up. Cheers
Man! B releases haven’t shown up here. Appreciate the review. As always!!
Trenton continues his bloody crusade to become the pickiest eater known to man
Love having a drink with you guys even though drinking something different makes me aware of flavors and nose!
ECBP A123 came out right away. The Larceny A123 is coming out with the ECBP B523 this month. Figure that one out. Excited to always try these though. Heard the Larceny B523 is a banger. Can’t wait. Great reviews as always.
Great new content thank you much. 🥃
Nice review! Still waiting for the 123’s in my area but I will get both when they are available.
I was able to grab both bottles myself last week! Can't wait to give them a go!
Vrt vrt hey we got some barley here! Thanks for an amusing and informative start to my week!
Thanks guys! Another great video. I also prefer ECBP. Currently have C917 that I haven't cracked yet. It will be a special occasion pour sometime soon.
I'm sitting on an A119 that was my backup that I'm terrified to open haha
Nice. I just had Larceny Barrel Proof yesterday. I have a B522 and an A123, and I like both a bit more than Larceny. But I haven't seen B523 on the shelves yet, not in my neck of the woods.
a little lesson on HH number/letter system for Trenton. The A batches are from January hence the 1. B is May, 5. C is September 9. The year is at the end. January release from this year is A123 for Larceny or ECBP. The last release was B523 for both, May release. Next will be September and will be the C923.... :)
Great review. Just got both from Harry but haven’t opened them yet. It would be interesting to see a comparison of EC barrel proof vs store pick/single barrels. Thanks and cheers
TIN CUP from Colorado is my favorite. Very similar flavor to larceny. Looking forward to trying the Larceny you featured.
Would love to see you guys do a Peerless distillery review sometime. I see their stuff on the shelf fairly often, but haven’t had it yet. They promote it as having won multiple awards.
Rewatching today:) the Larceny b522 is awesome! I’m really liking my Larceny b523 and waiting to find the c923! On the ECBP’s the a123 is a great pour! The b523 is nice and I’m waiting on the c923:) Cheers!
Larceny BP in general taste hotter than ECBP. I always attributed it to the 12 years vs 6-8 years. I can’t wait to get the new releases of both
Interesting, I found the opposite and find the recent Larcenys pretty easy drinking. Some of the ECBP are hot-ish to me but I love em. I probably have about 30 of these damn things in different batches and private barrels by now in the cellar. Cheers!
New camera and/or lighting?
Nice job!
Best part of the video is Kurt’s “Vee Dubya Bug BVRRTT BVRRTT, by the way we got some barley” then the giggling that followed 😂 Good times fellas. Thanks for the review as I just picked up both of these myself and look forward to popping the corks.
Nice video, I'm kinda partial to Larceny because of how rare BP wheaters are. But you're 100% right, most of them drink hot (and require water). BTW, have either of you tried "my" STEAGLE yet? I just had a nip of some that has been sitting for months, and I've got to say it was pretty great (1/2 Stagg Jr. & half Eagle Rare 10). It is excellent, if a little less refined than the sweeter BT Poor Man's Pappy mix..
KURT!!!-----TRENTON!!! Great video!! I really like Elijah Craig, but haven't had Larceny. That is def on my list!!! Thanks!!! CHEERS!!!!
Have them both and they are great. I prefer the Larceny with these 2. Cheers.
Great show love the Elijah Craig
I get chocolate malt on the palate from the EC B523, maybe some berries there as well...it is excellent
Great comparison I got both but have not cracked either one. I do feel like Larceny has gotten better with each go at it. And ECBP has been a little up and down.
Hey guys, great show as usual!
So I just acquired a bottle of the E.C. A123. I don't know if you've had that one, but how much difference would you think there would be between the two?
Thanks!
I love the Larceny brand. I'm a wheat guy too. Just tried to find this one and it is out of stock everywhere I look. Seems to be going for about $75. Great review guys. I also like Elijah Craig, but have never been able to find a barrel proof. I'm keeping my eyes open!!
Edit: Just found it online in a couple of places. One wanted $110, the other wanted $150. Crazy!!
The Larceny got a great review on breaking bourbon so it could be causing a secondary price stir.
Another great show guys. For the life of me I haven't been able to find an ECBP here in the Rhode Island/Massachusetts area. Frustrating. I do have the Larceny and think that's a solid offering at that proof point. Guess I'll keep hunting. Cheers.
I can help you find ecbp
KURT..please try this. After finishing a neat glass of whiskey. Turn it over and let it drip out. Then give it a couple waves in the air to dry it a little. Set it back down for a minuit then smell. It might take a couple tries, but when its just right it is like sticking your head in a barrel. Rich and woody. Enjoy, and thanks for the always great content.
The Larceny and Elijah Craig C922 and A123 were both very good IMO. I have seen mixed reviews on the EC BP B523. Some have said it is underwhelming. I will still pick up both of them if I find them. 🥃
Me too, as always. I've never bought either of them and said it wasn't worth the money. Some better than others, but always worth it.
Finally found an ECBP in Michigan, and it was a B523! $79.
I have both bottles and both are wonderful
A123 is one of my favorite LBP. Can’t wait to try this one. Cheers SLB!
Really like the head to heads . I have a question to enter the raffle on the lives do you need to be in the supper chat , or a patreon ?
Just got one at a local Meijers.
Can you believe that! ECBP at a Meijers?
That just made my day
Nice!
We need a tour of the basement please! That would be such a cool video
I just opened my ECBP B522 Saturday night ... my first reaction on the nose was honey graham cracker, so I'm going to have to grab one of these B523 to compare it to.
It’s A123 which I enjoy as well🥃. Three months ago you liked the A123 of Larceny and mixed on ECBP A123 but overall you liked both.
I always lways pick the Elijah over the Larceny. You can always water the Elijah not the same with the Larceny for me. If you prefer the Elijah I would suggest getting a bottle of Tumbling/Tumblin Dice and doing a comparison.
Larceny all the way
Just got the B523 yesterday...I get Werther's big time on the nose and I agree with ya'll - it smells incredible. The palate isn't as rich and thick as some of the ECBP I've had, especially the old pirate bottles, but it definitely does have that quintessential ECBP profile on the back end. Honey, Mature Oak, Leather. For a summertime barrel proof, it's extremely crushable, but I don't think it would fare well next to some of the better ECBP bottles. It just doesn't have that viscous and creamy mouthfeel
One thing I would add - it seems like it's getting harder and harder to find bourbon that is 10 yrs old and above - and it's even harder to find it for a reasonable price. If you can pick up something with these notes at MSRP, it's actually a better value in the current bourbon climate. You won't get these notes on a 5 year expression, even if it is a solid bourbon.
Thanks!
I have both and too my surprise ECBP is pretty decent. Wheat'sare my preference at the end if the day.
Just purchased the Larceny B523 for $65 at Total Wine, can’t find the Elijah Craig anywhere in my area, really looking forward to trying this, I always enjoy a good high proof bourbon.🥃
I recently found a EC B520 in a Saverite in NJ with an inch of dust on it
Same thing for me with my Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond 7 Year. The nose is amazing 🤩 but it does not transfer to the palette 😢.
Hum I feel like 1792 is overlooked and it's under rated. It's a solid hitter and available 😃
ECBP is almost always a hitter. Larceny BP hasn’t been my favourite. I think the regular small batch is decent tho. Keep up the double-headers! Where do you guys stand on water palate-cleanse before trying a different dram?
I'm relatively new to Bourbon, though I have drank quite a few different ones. The other day I bought Wolcott Rickhouse Reserve. What are your thoughts on this bourbon?
You two need to start adding the Bernheim Barrel Proofs into this lineup.
That horn sound is up there with the RoadRunners Beep Beep!
Here’s your book title: “Trenton’s Trash Talk.” As always, terrific video.
I heard Kurt say Barrel Proof and Cask Strength are different. I was always taught they are the same but it's just a matter of what different distilleries want to use. What is the difference?
I enjoyed the Larceny B523 so much i couldn't pass up a bottle of the C923 when I stumbled upon it. I haven't cracked it open yet.
The Elijah Craig Barrel Proof goes AMAZING with a NightShade by Drew Estate! OMG
Once the Larceny opens up it is delicious. One of my favorites. I have 4 bottles and looking for more. Hard to find in my area, not impossible, but hard.
I love my ECBP B520. That LBP B523 is legit though too.
The VW bug finish, nice!
Kurt, do you also keep a little jar of golden raisins soaking in scotch for your oatmeal? If not, you should try it.
Just bought the Larceny B523 Barrel Proof and drinking it right now. 3:04
Kurt, can you do a video of the Larceny A123 vs the B523.
Dried grapes are raisins. Yum either way Trenton!
Raisons are terrific.
I haven't quite graduated to being able to tolerate barrel proof / cask strength whiskeys yet. My proof max is about 105-110pf. I have a bottle of Old Forester 1920, which is 115pf, and that is still quite hot for my palate. I hate to put a cube in the higher proof stuff cause then you aren't really getting the real effect since you are thinning it out some, so I haven't been buying the higher proof & barrel strength offerings. Working on it, hopefully I will get there.
Keep drinking, your liver will thank you!
I have the Larceny so now I have to go and pick up the Elijah Craig so I can compare.
I just did a Larceny BP vs Bernheim BP blind last night. My opinion between the two wheaters, Larceny BP beat out in smell and taste.
I thought barrel proof and cask strength were interchangeable terms. Is there a difference?
I have that Larceny B523 and it is delish.
Come on Trent, we almost have the same palate and you don’t like raisins?
Amazing how different we all are.
I love my B522 EJBP, just blows everything out of the water for the $70 or so I paid for it. Hopeful to find another one or the newest for ‘23.
*ECBP
I like larceny small batch better than weller antique 107... can't wait to ever try a larceny barrel proof
ECBP is so good, can’t get enough of it
Elijah Craig nose for me was a root beer life saver. The tail end palate is black licorice.
I picked up the Larceny B523 when I was in your neck of the woods, but haven't found the Elijah Craig B523 yet.
I think I have seen every video you two have created on here. In one, you reviewed 4 or five whiskeys and made the comment that one of them was not available in the U.S. because it was for export only. Can you tell me the name of that bottle please. I have looked through all the videos but can't locate that one.
I scored the larceny barrel for $32... the corner liquor store just got a few regulars and 1 barrel.. I think it was mis priced I would say
Apparently EC has come out and said that the C923 release will be minimum 13 years old. Something to think about. Love the subtle raisin plug from Kurt LOL. Underrepresented snack.... Raisinets!
I think the shorter list would be things that Trenton DOES like instead of those that he does not like. That's okay pal, we love you anyway. I will keep an eye out at my local bourbon spots to see if I can try a pour of one or both of these.
I have the Larceny A123, and B523. I'm holding out for the Elija Craig C923. That one has a 13 year age statement.
Where can we find your mailing info? I've got B517 and C917 that you guys need to try.
Need a Barrel Craft lineup video
I really like the Larceny.
Just picked up a ECBP B523 in Cali for $75 +tx. The best EC I ever had was a stated 12 year 94 proof I bought 10 years ago. Toasted Pecan deliciousness. Never had a BP yet that was worth the money. It's sad. This will be my last try if it doesn't give me something for $75.
Trenton "oh yeah, bathe me in it..." 😂
I like both Elijah Craig and Larceny, the normal proof; I like Larceny a bit better. my favorite cocktail is Larceny on ice and my second favorite cocktail is Elijah Craig on ice, they are both affordable. I like many bourbons that are not too high rye. Strange, for me, 1792 is much better neat than on ice, 1792 is about as high of rye, I like, WT and Russell rev. and single are good too. Makers Mark got me into bourbon, from that Canadian so call whiskey.
I have a bottle of A123 Elijah Craig Barrel Proof at 125.6 proof. The mash bill is exactly the same as B523…78% corn, 12% malted barley and 10 rye and I picked it up in PA for $69.99. I am curious of your take on that particular run (A123) to see how it compares with mine.
I'm in PA as well. I've been trying to track the ECBP releases this year but haven't had any luck in store or online. When did A123 hit stores? Keeping an eye out for B523...
@@user-wu2uw9yu9iB523 was just released in Pennsylvania today 11/21/23. Look online and you’ll see what stores have it.
I was able to get A123 in both, but the B523's went so fast I never even got a whiff! It may not have helped that I moved to another state..... I can can state that the Larceny was the better of the 2.
ECBP 523 absolutely crushed Larceny BP in my taste test.
I can’t say I remember the A523 release either …. 🤔 🤔 🤔
Lol it was A123 earlier in the year. 👍🏻
I picked up the EC B523 because it’s overflowing on all local store shelves and nobody has C923. I’m debating to return the 523 since I haven’t opened it yet. I’ve never had a ECBP before, is it worth opening or should I take it back?
B523 is amazing.
This means they are both great.
Trenton and Kurton doing the lord’s work
