Congrats on the new bike 🤘. I haven’t changed anything but I added a bigger fuel tank from IMS and I upgraded the fairing to a Brittinia Lynx R. Since then nothing has been changed or added.
I got mine on eBay but you can get it on Amazon or Rock Mountain Atv www.amazon.com/Tusk-Top-Rack-Yamaha-2008-2016/dp/B01JX961YM/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?crid=3QYCW7F5OYX1I&keywords=TUSK+TOP+RACK+wr&qid=1669806928&sprefix=tusk+top+rack+wr%2Caps%2C89&sr=8-7&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc
You got the setup just about dialed in. I couldn't decide between tusk hard boxes or soft bags. I didn't realize I could source an exhaust heat shield. Thanks for that info. Can you still touch 70mph with 14/48 gearing? Thanks.
Thank you, happy to help. The exhaust shield is awesome. I thought I was going to have to go with hard cases as well but when I found the Wolfman shield I was stoked to be able to do soft bags. Mosko Moto makes a nice shield too but I think the wolfman is cheaper and does the same job. I can hit 70 mph and actually have seen it past 70 mph couple times.
I run without the sprocket cover when I use a 14 tooth sprocket. Not alot of clearance in there. Mud and debris could get caught up. Better chance of it vacating without the plastic cover. I trimmed the rubber guide and used some shorter 8 mil bolts and washers so at least I had some case protection. Sandman parts make a good case guard, but it rubs with the 14 tooth.
@@joelwallisadv I tend to get into some pretty gnarly stuff. My setup is pretty similar to yours, just less bags. Double take mirrors. Bar risers and a fat bar. RSC clutch lever (much easier pull). 4.7 IMS tank (3 gallon would have been more than enough. I'm not crossing any deserts). A diy kit from Travis @ GoRace suspension is my winter tinkering project. That stock shock kicks pretty fast over woops. Mine's an '08 wr250x w/2 sets of rims. Nice to be able to do double duty. Fuel pump on mine gave up last year. Put a Quantum pump in. I was surprised your video came up in my UA-cam feed. Posted 6 hours ago, with only 13 views at that point. All good. I guess the algorithm knows me better than I thought! Happy riding fella.
@@supermotardrider Gotta agree with the gas tank comment. 3 gallons is perfect. the 4.7 is like a big wide ugly thing with wings (like a tampax) and not really necessary and I love my Double Takes also----especially nice to fold on the trailer and for storage. Joel, Im surprised you aren't in love with your LED headlight. I have what I think is the same one on my 2008 and absolutely love it. Not sure I would want what Adam sports with the windshield; I would be afraid of damaging it. I have a BMW GS if I want a windshield. To me the WR is for getting muddy, windy and wet and enjoying it and not being afraid of breaking something expensive when I dump it! Edit: great tip on the USB----NEED one.
@@darrellhay I 3rd the 3 gallon tank. That will be another upgrade down the line. The 4.7 is ugly imo too. For the LED light I don't ride much at night but the fairing is something I am interested in for more roading riding. I wish I had the budget to get a second bike but gotta make the WR work for my needs until I can afford a second bike to use for touring. I have seen Adam dump his bike with the fairing and has held up pretty well in fact so I am not worried about ruining it plus when I rode his it still offered all the fun of getting muddy, wet, and still get enough wind not too forget your on a dirt bike ;)
@@supermotardrider Your WR setup sounds awesome! Having two sets of rims must be nice! Always have love the X model. Isn't the X suspension natively stiffer then the R?
Good video
Thank you 😊
Have you changed anything up on your build? Just got me a 2008 WR250R, and I haven't done anything to it yet. It's been well taken care of!

Hey mate. Where did you get your rear fender rack please ?

No rimlocks? You can ride out with a flat tire most times with locks.Thank's for the tour of your bike.
Not yet. On my next tire change I will be getting them. 🤘🙌

Hi, just wondering what brand/where to get the front disc guard? Cheers
They were from back in 08 and believe they are discontinued but there are a plethora of other options out there that will do the same job
@@joelwallisadv Thanks mate, liked the look of that one :( I will see what I can find. Cheers 👍
@@adrianusai I think Zeta has one that is kinda similar to the billet one I have.
@@joelwallisadv thanks, I will check it out.

Good to know and makes sense. It has always been this way for 10+ years and had zero issues.
