Adam you're one of my favorite drummers ever and your band is a huge inspiration. The new record is my favorite thing you guys have written so far. Much love
I saw them live this year in Europe. Definitely one of my favourite concert of themyear. They manage to have something very catchy and groovy but at the same time very interesting to analyse. It's a band in its own league for sure, like Leprous.
My favorite band and my favorite rhythm theory channel? TOGETHER!? What a great way to start the morning. Love your channel, man. I've learned so much from you.
So glad to hear some Vola tracks on your channel! I've been into their music for many years. I never could wrap my head around what was happening in their song Napalm until you explained it. Great analysis.
Marvelous! Been watching your channel for ages, and am so glad you're covering VOLA! Fun fact - on the VOLA song Inmazes (from the album Inmazes) - the intro of the song actually pays tribute to the introduction of Dancers To A Discordant System by Meshuggah! I reckon if you ever felt like covering more VOLA you might have some fun on that one! Good stuff Yogev
This year vola was the 3rd band in my wrapped and now I'm seeing one of my favorite channels analyzing them. I was not going to comment but i realized this channel is SUPER UNDERRATED with sub 100k subs and hope i contribute a little to the algorithm
Awesome video man! And welcome back to YT! Always excited to see your analysis, your explanations really help understand the music and provide a ton of creative ideas. Idea for a new video: Hidden complexities in Leprous' last album :P, somehow it sounds simpler but there are a lot of intricacies and cool rhythmic ideas.
Love that VOLA is getting some attention and recognition 👏👏👏 Also if you don’t know their song “Inmazes” check it out , wonderful meshuggah-esque riff with keyboard hits over the top , definitely tickles the brain 🤘
Man, this was so awesome to watch - I'm so glad some bigger channels are starting to show them some love, they're my favorite band of all time 🙏❤ Witness is a near flawless album in opinion, but somehow I think their other works are even better... Inmazes is one of the best pieces of art I've ever heard and I believe the title track is their best song, I would highly recommend checking that one out!!
Inmazes is still my most favorite album to play through on my 8 string, the Meshuggah-iness of the riffs combined with an almost ethereal Depeche Mode vibe is a lot of fun.
Wow! Found the VOLA for me recently and those 3 songs are my favourite and kind of confusing (i am not very good at time consuming) Your video is just for me it's incredible, thank you!
I would absolutely LOVE an analysis of the title track off of Inmazes, it reminds me of dancers to a discordant system with 3s over the top 😄I challenge YOU to analyse it (because I cant 😭)
its not that complicated, its a 3-3-4-4 grouping rhythmical phrase (14 notes) and the 'melody' is 13 notes, so it kind of shifts forward through the rhythmical groupings. and yeah i should add that even though its 3344 the last note of each grouping is longer, so its technically 4455 = 18/8, but done the meshuggah way and cut of after 8 bars of4/4
ha i kind of misremembered the thing, its actually 9 bars of 4/4 (the organ makes it feel like 4 bars of 9/4, it plays 6 dotted quarter notes per chord change) anyway the rhythm/melody movement still applies
@@bazdesh man I love this band soooooo much, that first riff in the song is so complex and heavy then it goes to the future breed machine guitar solo and then it ends with 3 minutes of the most beautiful Melodys you’ve ever heard! So underrated, they deserve a few more episodes of time consuming 😄
Haha, by your description of what this video was going to be about in the first bit, I was like, “Hmm, this sure sounds like he’s going to do Stone Leader Falling Down” 😂
Your yellow note in 'Straight Lines' should be one square to the left (I hate to be that guy) 😅 This is great, I'd confused myself by overthinking 'Napalm' V2 and you've shown me the light. And the 'Napalm' bridge is the final cool variation: the same pattern (seven 16ths) that the song has been using, except: - every 4th pattern (a la "groups within groups"), the 3 yellow 16ths (the bent note) happens 3 times instead of once, making that pattern 13/16 instead of 7/16 - in pattern #8, the last two 16th-notes are cut off, making that pattern 5/16 instead of 7/16 (I guess to make the whole section's "line up/restart" optimally cool) Such an addictive album, way better than the new one I reckon 😅
Thanks Yogev, I love Vola and thinks Straight Lines and Napalm are great songs. I have a suggestion for you: Toxin2 from Vildhjarta. I love that band but rythmics are so weird. Any Vildhjarta song would make me happy.
I've been obsessed with VOLA for over a year, also my name is Phil, weird! The MIDI does make these songs almost unrecognizable. Any excuse to listen to more VOLA though...
Are you sure these are groupings and just odd-time songs with a straight beat behind it? Adam Neely's been trolling lately that everything's in 4/4 and this feels like part of the bit
So nice to see Vola getting some love
Indeed!!
Very entertaining and interesting video! Thanks for this, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Hope to see you in Boston next year then! 😄

The past 2 VOLA albums have been incredible. So happy you made this video.
Yay! You're back!
Thanks to you and your video good sir, I've never heard of this band before and I'm really loving Napalm!
My favorite band and my favorite rhythm theory channel? TOGETHER!? What a great way to start the morning. Love your channel, man. I've learned so much from you.
New Yogev video on a great band!
This is exactly what i wanted, VOLA and You!! More of this!! ❤
So glad to hear some Vola tracks on your channel! I've been into their music for many years. I never could wrap my head around what was happening in their song Napalm until you explained it. Great analysis.
So glad you delve into the music of Vola, I love this band. I can't stop listening to all of their songs.
I literally discovered Vola yesterday, what a coincidence that you made this video!!
Vola are a perfect band in my humble opinion. Happy they’re covered here!
Damn I've been missing your content!

OK, Yogev analyzing Vola's music, that's an instant like for me. Now watching the video. 😁
I'm convinced VOLA is the perfect blend of Meshuggah and mew....
Ah, this is great! Love all these songs so much :)
Didnt know these guys Yogev. Thanx for the introduction/analysis.
I got way too excited when I saw this video pop up in my subscriptions
Yogev Yogev Yogev.......cheering for the video out of excitement

That is VOLAs best song!!
@ agreed! Feels like floating into oblivion while getting a hug towards the end, I would love to see it get a breakdown on the channel! 🤞🤞🤞

Napalm is such a cool song.
oh hell yeah, VOLA's my jam
Good to see you! Thanks for all your hard work
I needed this when I was playing Napalm earlier this year 😅even with their highly valuable creator pack with the Guitar Pro files...
Awesome man!
Love Vola
I absolutely love your videos Yogev!
Ahh you should’ve done Smartfriend. Great band though, cool video.
Smartfriend is a fave of mine!
I used to listen to this band like a kid, but now I listen to them like a man
its crazy I usually dont understand shit in this video but keep watching you 😂 I hope someday it clicks in my head haha
Excelente!!!
Inmazes is still my most favorite album to play through on my 8 string, the Meshuggah-iness of the riffs combined with an almost ethereal Depeche Mode vibe is a lot of fun.
King Yogev ⭐️

You definitely hit all my faves by them. Glad to see you talking about Vola! ❤
Napalm is my favourite Vola song! But I was never able to get the blast beat in the second verse correctly
Love Volo.
Yeaaah!

Volaaaaa
... They stole my riff! 😮
This sounds better than Vola themselves (no vocals) 😆
Kickäss!

I've been obsessed with VOLA for over a year, also my name is Phil, weird! The MIDI does make these songs almost unrecognizable. Any excuse to listen to more VOLA though...
Are you bringing back the Meshuggah series along with your return?
Cool video, and I LOVE VOLA. Why *did* you use the midi and not their original music though?
UA-cam doesn't like using other people music.. 🤷♂️
OOooh Yeah! One of my favorite bands at the moment! They're so good
I knew that you have three hands
Great work, as usual. today is a sad day: Zakir Hussain left the building. mourn, mourn.....
Are you sure these are groupings and just odd-time songs with a straight beat behind it? Adam Neely's been trolling lately that everything's in 4/4 and this feels like part of the bit
no inmazes' songs :(
Dude don't you have like friends with guitars that can't be tuned down to F#?!
so... you've shipped up to Boston.
first song I heard from them was Break My Lying Tongue I fell in love inmediately. all the do now is comercial piece of shit...
Wut? BMLT is from the newest album, what are you talking about🤔
