Spector = godliness. Been using Euro's and CRFM's for the last ten years. Total gutteral nastiness when dropped tuned and hooked up with a Darkglass B7K.

Thank you!! I am going to make a tone video on this but basically the Spector gives me the growl, the AMPEG gives me the bottom and my fingers give me the bite!! And a little gain on the ampeg (plug in) helps give it a boost of power! :) I hope this helps. Subscribe and stay tuned for the tone video!!
Hey there! I was using Amplitube for this video, but now I use Bias Effects since you can do more specific amp modeling. it's awesome! thanks for the comment!
Yep! The tonepumps are a blessing and a curse. Live they pack a punch, but while recording they can make your signal very hot where you have to turn down the bass and lose tone to allow for the right level. I have had to adjust my tone pumps, which is very easy, you just open the back where the battery is and turn down the dial. I have found that around 3 o'clock area seems to be about right, but you'll have to test yours for yourself...assuming you have one.
65-130 since this a BEAD tuned base 35 inch scale. Here are the exact strings I used with the gauges of all strings: daddario.com/DADProductDetail.Page?ActiveID=3769&productid=154&productname=EPS170_5_ProSteels_5_String_Bass__Light__45_130__Long_Scale&sid=5704b798-04dc-4672-9fe8-4ac9fc795d01
great cover!! let me ask you something, how do you tune your bass, I have a 4 string bass and is horrible at drop b tuning, how do you make it less floppy? (sorry for my mistakes in english, im from Colombia) Greetings!
Hello! This bass I'm playing is a 35 inch scale which means the neck is longer than a 4 string (34 inch scale), so it can handle lower notes. This bass I'm playing is a BEAD tuned bass (it's made for that). So it's like a 5 string without the high G. So...when I tune down to drop B, it's no problem. HOWEVER, I do not recommend tuning a 4 string 34 inch scale bass to a drop B, it just sounds bad. :) Hope this helps!
new to your channel sorry if you already covered this in some retrospective vid, but what kind of basses did you start out with before the cha-ching heavy gear you use now? I'm not a specialist, I gotta do it all, which spreads the bread real thin, ya dig? heh
Yeah I totally get it. I had a p bass copy when I started, I really loved the yamaha BB300 which you can get for under $200, but lately I've been impressed with the quality and affordability of the Mitchell basses. Check out my review on my channel so you can hear one. I think it's called: quality bass for under $300. It sounds REALLY GOOD!!! I hope this helps!
It's called "drop B", which is basically: B F# B E I used my 35 scale bass which is BEAD, then just tuned up the EAD a whole step. But you can do this with a 4 string 34 inch scale, but the strings will be pretty loose. Here is a video which outlines it: ua-cam.com/video/dHfJW-a0Mfg/v-deo.html
holy shit, girl I wana be you, I wish I was that good, and your bass is pretty as hell I have the same one, I know I'm late watching this video but damn girl kill it. props to you,
@@NickiTedesco it's a regular 4 string. A Yamaha TRBX 604. Every time I tune this low like Drop B, it sounds horrible. The string keeps hitting the frets
GAURAV SANKAR hello! Yes, that’s why. The bass I’m using is a 35 inch scale so it’s made to handle the larger gauge strings that have the thickness and length to hit the low note. You need a 125 gauge string verses the 100-105 string used for the E, you also need a slightly longer string length to properly hit the low B. It CAN be done but it usually sounds crappy and hits the fretboard. You CAN try to adjust the neck and attempt it as well as put on a heavier gauge string. It will still not sound the way you are looking for and I don’t recommend it. Your best options are-if you have an extra 4 string bass, get a set of 5 string bass strings_65-80-100-125 for example and adjust the neck so they won’t hit it. You need to assign the bass as permanent “5” string (BEAD) otherwise you’ll be screwing with your neck too much and also it’s a pain. OR, just get a cheap 5 string. You can find them for a couple hundred bucks. It just won’t sound right otherwise. Hope this helps!
@@NickiTedesco Wow, this is what I needed. Thank you for your guidance. I think it's time to go bass hunting again. Longer neck and bigger gauge. M a subscriber now 🙂 thanks again!!! 😊
