    Vorpal is a totally awesome project. Built it with my son this Christmas from parts sourced from AliExpress/eBay. Some of the parts were a bit different so we had to do some small modifications, but wasnt too hard. Also the code is easy to understand and to mod. We built with a joystick as the key D-pad didnt arrive in time.

    Whoa! That's cool! In Philadelphia, there was a robotics/3D-printing class that I attended, and Vorpal Robotics was teaching it! I got to 3D print my own attachments for the drawing-contest, and my robot got first place on one of the three trials because of the intricate design of the attachment! :D

      I usually print in PLA for prototyping and fancy stuff, ABS for customer prints usually when requested more if I am printing something functional that needs to withstand high heat. Alternatively PETG for functional part. Nylon and ASA for stuff that will see outside elements :)

    great video Joe, Jerry looks awesome, if you had some ninja flex maybe making some boots or sneakers for him he might get better traction on hard surfaces?. If you had to sum up the time spent making his parts and putting him together how long would have taken? love the content.

    • @3DMakerNoob
      @3DMakerNoob  6 років тому +1

      Hehe I actually taught of the boots, will have to design something :) the parts took about 2 - 3 days on total to print at 150 microns and about 2 hours to put the whole thing together

    Great video again :) I watched your video on the Rubik’s cube solving robot and then had to build one, I have watched this video and now have to build one of these, you are costing me a small fortune!! One question if I may, are you using protected 18650 batteries?

    • @3DMakerNoob
      @3DMakerNoob  6 років тому

      First of all, sorry not sorry hehe 😜 as for the batteries, no they are not, however the battery holder I listed is protected itself :)

    • @jamesledcube5827
      @jamesledcube5827 6 років тому

      3D Maker Noob lol keep the projects coming, these electronics and 3d printing combined ones are the best and you present them in a way which makes it hard for me to ignore! Am I right in saying if I buy the kit from the store then the battery holder is not protected tho? So your set up has neither protected? Like you I have many batteries from vape mods but just trying to get an idea what I need.

    • @3DMakerNoob
      @3DMakerNoob  6 років тому

      That is correct, if you buy the kit I’d suggest getting protected batteries for it just in case :)

    This is really an awesome project. I am sort of obsessing on the idea of this. I would love to know how they created the remote. Since I am JUST starting to get to know a bit about Arduino I dont quite get the connection. Can you point to where I can see how the target is controlled by the remote? I know it is connected via Bluetooth. Where is the API/ library covering the connection? I would love just a hello world on this connection. AMAZING proj! I would love for this to be a learning project for me to do on my own.

      Ok. Doing research on how HC-05 and HC-06 work. (Maybe can be replaced by ESP8266?)... starting to see how the controls work. Bluetooth connection acts just like a USB Cable connection. Arduino can not tell the difference. Ok, I might just be able to do this. (Any little hints though would be greatly appreciated!). I am definitely having trouble finding info on building the hard remote part of this. So... hardware pointers would be sweeeeet! Anyway thanks for the vid! You pointed me into some cool spaces!

    Cool project. Just a comment on buying parts:
    I bought small plastic servos multiple times online and from reputable sources and I must say the servos I normally buy on ebay, banggood, etc... are very inconsistent. Bare in mind I am only talking about the smaller plastic ones. I got some that worked very well and others in which the driver burned down just from powering it on once, some in which the gears where defective and rattled their way to oblivion and some that simply did not work. The most common problem is that, with the same control setup, they were off by, sometime, 30º from what it is was expected. Even when buying from the same seller, they get different batches and one time you get perfectly good parts and the next one they are all garbage.
    I am not in anyway telling you not to buy parts from ebay, I myself continue to do it and it is much more cost effective than other sources. I am just saying that servos specifically I prefer to just get them from reputable sources because, even though they are more expensive, they normally have better quality control. And since I do this as a hobby and my focus is to have fun doing it, I prefer not to waste my time having issues that can be avoided.
    Of course, to each is own and some people might not have the money for that but I just wanted to share my experience for the ones that are weighting both options.
    In this particular case I do believe, if you have the means, you should buy it from the guys that took the time to make something cool and opened it to everyone :)

    • @3DMakerNoob
      @3DMakerNoob  6 років тому

      To be fair, with the servos, vorpal in fact send you an extra one just in case. one of the ones i had in the kit also didn't work. i supported the guys because i believed they deserve it. it;s a great project and a great initiative and i fully support it.
