- Season 2 of Ash Vs Evil Dead was another fun ride with the Ghost Beaters but the ending was a bit of a mess. Find out about the VERY different original ending to season 2, and how it compares to what aired.
i cant help thinking about Tommy Wiseau every time Baal show's up.
il Teschio
I was wondering where I'd seen him before! Tommy Wisseau
Oh, Hai Ash!
il Teschio oh hi ruby...
il Teschio I was thinking more of Brad Dourif.
The VooJooze yea me too
I definitely agree on Season 2 Episode 6, Having Ellen Sandweiss return as Cheryl was just spectacular
Honestly would’ve been extremely cool to see the whole young ash fighting alongside old ash dynamic. It’s simple and keeping the time travel simple could’ve worked. But the Kelly is ashes daughter and more bizarre elements like that we could do without. It’s interesting that, in hindsight 2022, with the Evil Dead the Game’s release we get a huge time travel element to the story. Helping explain how we see all the ashes together and every character from all of the films and show.
season 2 was one hell of a ride cant wait for season 3
Will Huey To end
Hahaha one year later
@@Link1213. haha two years later *says with tears
@@Midfk oh no...
Except it sucked
I would have loved the whole young Ash thing, but i would have HATED! it if they made Kelly Ash's daughter.
yea that's pretty bad xD noo she's not his daughter xD
MechaMinilla99 I fucking love Kelly but it wouldn’t fit if she was his daughter
@amanda miller
KEEP ON SPREADING THE TRUTH SISTER
Her being his daughter has incredible potential regarding plot, their dynamics and we could have had a big showdown between the two, or the show could have explored their damaged relationship since if it would have happened, Kelly would have probably try to kill Ash for literally changing her entire life. A whole arc of ash vs kelly.
Could have been awesome.
I was hoping that the studios made a deal and we'd see them going to medieval times right at the end of the finale.
PuffmanEazy1 same :/ I know they could do it if they wanted to but sadly it never happened
Making Kelly, Ash's daughter, would have been sweet, until you realize how creepy it is that Ash was hitting on Kelly in the first episode of season 1.
Would you be surprised though? It's not like he could have known.
Star Wars
Then brandy would have a half sister
Dude I really wish we saw Old Ash and Young Ash fighting
I don't know, man. I think you might be coming at this from the wrong angle. Evil Dead is a series where shit just happens. And it's ok, because the Evil Dead itself messes with reality and 'the rules'. The series lies to you intentionally, and sets up the rules so that it can later break them.
TheEndKing No dude, Ash is the only Chosen One, and it should always stay that way.
TheEndKing yeah, because sometimes it’s like the show won’t recall the last two movies (not the remake) then it does....it’s crazy and funny
I always thought of the Evil Dead films to be way over the top, but in a good way. This season just amped it up more. Some things I liked, others, not so much, but this season was enjoyable. Hoping they do the original ending in season 3, if we get one.
Evil Dead is kind of like the Mad Max of dark lore
Ya like apocalypse stuff? Well HERE'S A LOT OF IT
Ya like old god necronomicon type shit? HERE'S ALL I HAVE
the only part i didn't like was the Henrietta's teet scene. That shit was too gross for me lmao
+Betty But u were alright w/the shit scene?
I didnt like the moment in the last episode, when they capture Ash and Kelly and do nothing to them and after that agree to some stupid deal, I mean they have already captured them why Bill just agree to that fighting 1 on1 thing
@@TheVonzilla exactly what i thought cuz the shit scene seemed so out there but i couldnt consider it an offensive thing because thats evil dead the worst that can happen will, even shit u dont expect i didnt expect it, i was surprised but the comedy sold it for me XD
I'm so glad this original ending didn't make it. Thank god for Robert Tabert. Making Kelly Ash's daughter is horrible. Kelly should stand on her own as a character. Making her Ash's daughter is so unnecessary.
I spoke to Dana at walker stalker. I asked her about it and she said the same thing. Making Kelly Ash's daughter takes away some of the badassery of the character. Then you know why she's tough. Her not being related and just being a bad ass babe makes it better.
I agree adding a long lost child to anything just greatly takes away from the story
How exactly does making her Ash's daughter make her any less of a bad ass. If your father is a navy seal does that mean you are automatically a bad ass too? No. Some people are idiots.
It doesn't make anyone an idiot just because they think adding a long lost child to anything is a bad idea and she may be a bad ass but it doesn't mean she's Ash's daughter
KeithRose Evil Dead isn't Star Wars.
Quite Frankly I wouldn't care if she was his Literal daughter as she becomes his Figurative one anyway.
Whether I liked the ending or not (on my first viewing I felt it was a fake created by Ruby too) it's still been the most outright fun show on TV this year (leagues more entertaining than that other show with Dead in the title) and I'm already missing it greatly. Can't wait for season 3!
Best line of the season has to be
"I'll be like a ninja losing his virginity, quick and discreet" 😂
Awesome video man! I personally would have liked to have seen both of their ideas come together.
You totally forgot the post credits scene of season 2 episode 10. It shows the Necronomicon being found by a girl by the cabin. No joke... watch it...
Arthur Dank can’t be because the necronomicon was already in the cabin when the kids from the remake went there
The remake starts with the possessed girl being chased and caught, who could have been the one to find the book at the end of s2, which could explain why it's in a cabin.
Did it bother anyone else that there was no porch swing at the cabin this time?
its kool to see old cast come out on TV show and Bal he was Aries right hand man on Xena warrior princess lol
I've said that if Kevin Smith (Aries) were still alive, he would have been the PERFECT Baal!
thats right Kevin smith dead? yeah true he be badass BAALL
Strife
I THOUGHT he looked familiar!!!
right?! Seeing him on Xena and how he acted on there, it was hard for me to take him seriously as a villain on AVED. I always cracked up at him. lol
Yeah, seeing a younger Ash wouldve been cool. They dropped the ball on the season finale.
This was THEE BEST SHOW EVER!!!! I’m like super pissed that they canceled it. Ash was just hilarious. And being pulled into the dead body at the Morgue…🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Honestly if the change in show-runner means that season 3 will be more like Evil Dead 2, then I'm all for it. Don't get me wrong, I've loved these past 2 seasons, but have felt they've been a little too comedic.
Mad Hatter wasn't evil Dead 2 more comedic than Evil Dead?
After Evil Dead 1 it became warmer horror comedy with the kandorian demons constantly fucking with Ash.
I liked season 2 very much. Especially the Morgue-episode was very interesting (not because of the poop-jokes, but it reminded me of ReAnimator) and the Trapped Inside-ep. was so classic. There were so many references to the Evil Dead-movies, and I also loved to see Pablo a bit more useful this time. But some things bothered me. Over all, I really didnt liked the finale. Yes, it was awesome to see the Henrietta fight, the return of the evil tree or the little fuckward-Army of Darkness-reference, BUT especially episode 10 was so messy and felt out of place. I mean, they really didnt changed to timeline at all?! Young Ash never read from the book, never was in the cabin and never went back to mediaeval time and he is still the person he is today? Thats just crazy. I also didnt liked episode 5 because it wasnt really that atmospheric it wanted to be. The same thing with episode 8. But all in all, I think this season was more creative and better structured then the first one. Except for the finale and the pilot, it improved over season 1 in every way. My future wish for season 3: More horror elements and please more character developement/ complexe team dynamics. Great video.
Episode 10 IS messy because they had to rush the writing since the previous director called quits.
Season 3 was sadly bad in my opinion.
I guess you could say this show is. GROOVY
I rly like the second season for be more serious, i know Evil Dead is a comedy, but i'm one of the those who like more Evil Dead 2 then Army of Darkness, because he could make me laugh and feel scary at the same time, and i was kinda missing that in the major of first season, so maybe be more serious is not realy that bad
Who knows, maybe season 3 will be like that
I really hope the rest of the series stays on the same level of comedy as the pilot episode. It was HILARIOUS but also had some scary scenes
Kitsune Pryde I like the part of Evil dead 2 when ash cut his hand off then his hand flip him off
First time commenting on a video but dude your review of this show is so spot on. You've actually inspire me so thank you
I got the impression the Elk Grove scene at the end wasn't real. It was too perfect and fantastical - as Ash himself says. Taken alongside Ruby's declaration to Baal that she was honouring the deal and then her appearance at the back of the Elk Grove crowd looking smug - all suggested the Elk Grove setting at the end was some kind of fantasy trap with Ash caught inside.
Love this do another classic we love u wrap things up so well. thankful✌🏿
Love your videos! Favorite youtuber.
You gotta praise these people making this show its incredible.
Wow the original ending would of been 1000 times better
b illy yep Especially Having the idea of Flipin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OLD ASH HELPIING YOUNG ASH...but they were gonna use Bruce Cambells Face and make it like younger like they did with Terminator Genysis When the old terminator fighting Evil Younger self?
Samir Hamza I can't believe they actually scrapped that idea and gave us an ending that didn't even make sense
b illy Yeah!!!!!!!i DIDNT LIKE THE ENDING
b illy I agree as the ending we get makes no sense as the town would of not known about the demons and there would be no deaths so all the ending is doing ruins the timeline and one thing that is proof is that the homeless man says you ruined my life to ash and in the final we see ash give him the bottle of booze so we do know that the effects of what they did in the past does get affected so that would mean the series wouldn't really be here.
+jim bill They had to've done that on purpose, as a way of pressing pause bc they couldn't decide on anything good enough in time. So surely they just did that ending so they could turn it into an illusion next season and instead merge it into becoming the big set up for the entire 3rd season. Momentary disappointment can always be written away in tv. Like Angel season 4, that whole season was a let down, then the 5th and final season was better than ever, and it was all set up in the S4 finale. Or even better, we can hope that the Ash finale we got will be written into season 3 in such a way that will make all of S2 better. Kinda like ppl say was done with Star Wars(a new hope) & Rogue One.
Just happened to find this video a year late, but I have to say that I agreed with almost everything you've stated in the video. Well done with the info and explanation! I have to agree that as someone who has been with the franchise since the beginning, Tapert knows what is best for the series.
I've seen a lot of comments from different threads that people are pretty much feeling negatively about Rob Tapert, but he's really good at what he does. If he doesn't like the way something is being written, there's usually a good reason. It'll be interesting to see which way season 3 goes.
Another great video. The ending left me with questions and seemed somewhat sloppy. Your video explained it perfectly on how I was feeling
What about the post credit scene???
I was expecting to see the kids from the remake picking up the Necromicon.
That wouldnt make sense since we already know how the kids in the remake came across the Necronomicon and it wasnt that. What it COULD be tho is the girl that was killed off at the very start of the remake (first 2 scenes) and that could be what ties in with Mia's character maybe in Season 3 which would be fucking awesome if they team Ash up with Mia
That would have been awful. Just awful
How so?
Wonderlandian That could make sense actually. It would show why the events in the remake are so similar and yet different.
I get why you wouldn’t want shit and piss but the thing is the end of the first evil dead the demons turned into oatmeal, and to mention the other various colors of eldritch slime.
Like that they decided to push some boundaries.
I think ash Being Kelly’s dad could work as a joke kind of thing but not like a big story thing
Edit: I’m coming around to that idea
Yeah. Like if ash banged Kelly's mom but never explicitly said that he got her pregnant leaving it ambiguous
The cannon of Ash reading the Nacronamcon is wrong to begin with. See if Evil Dead 1 is cannon that means the beginning of Evil Dead 2 is non-cannon but just a summarized version of what happen.
ua-cam.com/video/FzOIHOjYcqM/v-deo.html
That's exactly what it is.
I really agree with you on the morgue scene. I was rolling my eyes the entire time. It felt horribly out of place and shoehorned. That said, I'm really excited to see what they do next season. I'm hoping we get a season that heavily references Army of Darkness.
I agree with 99% of everything you said except for around 5:13 ish. I came to the conclusion pretty quickly that the reason that Ash's hand grew back was Baal. He had to make them think that they'd succeeded and that Pablo was alive because he had been hiding in Pablo's body the whole time so that he could travel back in time too and fuck more shit up!
After seeing Season 3, Im so glad they decided to go a different way and didn't go through with the original ending
Ashes hand came back because without reading the book he never had to cut it off in the first place
Dude i havent finished season 2 so i skipped the vid to ask you. Can you explain the evil dead universe? The timelines, the plotholes, why is the evil dead 1 movie seems unrelated to the second installment yadayada?
Please
5:40 He did read the book in the post credit scene ash’s girlfriend found the book
How could they possibly bring in young Ash? With this show's budget, there's no way the CGI would be good enough. Heck, Tron: Legacy had millions and millions and they still couldn't get it entirely right
I think the point they're trying to make is that no matter what Ash does to make things like they never happened, the evil dead makes it happen anyway. He gets his hand back, it gets cut off again anyway. He goes back in time to never find the book in the first place, the evil dead finds a way to make it happen anyway. Ash keeps believing he's not supposed to be the one to fight and makes decisions about running or stopping it from happening in the first place, but he's gotta realize someday, it's his fate and he has to face it no matter what.
awesome video! btw do you still use amino?
Yeah the app
I like your take on the season, you earned a sub
When are you going to do the third season?
I was watching season 2 on Netflix. So I have to see if maybe season 3 already started. Anyway, as I was watching the end of season 2, I was worried that maybe the series was ending/got cancelled. The cabin would have made a perfect ending to the series. I'm glad I was wrong.
ulyssescpt the new season starts February my friend, it's going to be awesome
Season one had a lot of that crude humour as well. I know I'm a few years late to this but the original season had Ash get his face thrown into a urinal and the joke about Vivian cleaning the waste bucket in episode one
i remembered the hype for the episodes that take action in the past
at the end nothing really changed
It would be interesting if in the new season they went back far enough this time in time to have them get in touch with the man that brought the book to the cabin prior to the first movie. This could work for getting more info on the book, history, and even that secret that Ash's father was hiding that might all be connected in some strange way. Or it could be that Ash is his own father lol.
The help is with the timeline? Are all movies canon in the series or just the last 2?
they made the right choice with hero ash about to meet his daughter brandy in season 3
The events still happened because remember. Ash has simultaneously lived through both parallel timeliness of Evil Dead and Evil Dead II. Meaning the events of Evil Dead 1 still happened in 1981 (a year prior to when Ash time traveled with Kelly, Ruby, and Pablo. So no matter what Ash's destiny with the Necronomicon and The Cabin still occurred no matter what.
can't wait for season 3
Fantastic review.
You really hit upon a lot of things that I had also pondered.
I totally agree that the crudeness was kind of out of place in
this series. That dead body on his head reminded me of
Mr Bean with a giant turkey on his head. Dumb.
Again... well done, Sir.
Jayson Lucero That was one of the things Rob Tapert objected to, and I can understand why he wanted a new showrunner. The morgue scene was funny, but it was also too far removed from the tone of the films.
Ash getting his head shoved up a dead body's ass could've been worse. He could've ended up like The Brothers Grimsby in that elephant scene.
loved both seasons can't wait for season 3
dude it would be really awesome if you made a evil dead uni explained video.
and a evil dead trilogy review video (original, ii and aod)
R.i.P evil dead
Hoooooly shit. That ending would have been AWESOME. I hope these ideas get back into the storyline.
Should have spoken about the after credit scene. Speculation on that is it's going to tie in the 2013 Evil Dead which would make it canon and would bring in Mia to the Ash Evil Dead world which is something they have said they want to do.
Was there ever an explanation for how Ash had the book St the beginning of the series?
I totally agree that the toilet humor wasn't Evil Dead.
It felt like low hanging fruit and left me feeling that season 2 took a noticeable detour from what makes Evil Dead so damn special.
I'm glad the source of all that(Craig) is out. He just didn't seem to really get the property. Not entirely at least.
Seeing young ash in a BTTF sort of way would've been really cool ^_^ I look forward to seeing how this happy fantasy at the end of S2 is ruined to kick off S3. i bet youre right though! It all looks too good to be true! (also on a side note, i love the DVD collection! A surprising amount of my favourite UK comedies!)
so funny that he calls him Bill hahahah
I have a question. Has it ever been explained exactly what a "kandarian spirit" is?
Is it actually a dead person or something else?
I'm confuse about the whole time travelling thing in the show as well I didn't got how the book came back after being burned in the first movie? There is way too many questions about the storyline.
Evil Dead 2's first half is basically a remake, so the book never got burned. But if you must have them in the same continuity, then I guess being dark magic and all, it healed itself.
Young ash: who are you
Old ash: im you
Young ash: im not a old loser
Old ash: no i am you so your basically saying your a loser
Young ash:how are you even here
Old ash: look theres a book that summons demons and one of our friends pablo has died so we came back in time to save him and also you got a chainsaw hand
Young ash: pablo sounds like a mexican
Old ash: k gotta go see you on the other side of the flip flop
Love this show. But I also wondering if there will be a evil dead 2 remake like the other darker more horror one that came out a few years ago.
Someone please explain to me, how with the cabin and Necronomicon being destroyed prior to 80's Ash and Company arriving would Current Ash still be a thing?
I gotta say, I can honestly handle everything that went down in the finally, except for Ruby being killed by her past self, I loved Ruby so much and thought she was so cool. I enjoyed seeing her become part of the team, and would have loved seeing her become more human like them as Pablo pointed out. I was so upset when Ruby died, but there is still her past self who might be able to see the light that her future self saw.
Sweet. Very good stuff. It really shows a lot of creativity but really that over the top crude stuff is kinda different to say the least lol
Overall though it’s quite entertaining and a breath of fresh air to take in for the Evil Dead franchise
Honestly I was hoping it would be modern Ash and ED2 Ash tag teaming Baal in a 2v1, ending with them pulling a Devil May Cry style back-to-back and hitting Baal with the quadruple buckshot from both of their boomsticks simultaneously. Cue macho The Predator handshake, they both say "Groovy" at the same time, and as Ash leaves with the Necronomicon, instead of the cabin collapsing, it deletes the timeline and they wave goodbye as classic Ash fades away.
I KNEW something was up with that ending! It felt so... out of place.
Thought I remembered the name of this show by memory, scrolled through a couple shows and ended up watching the entire first season on Stan Vs Evil..... well shit
The ghosts kind of reminded me of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi because there were three ghosts standing off to the side during a celebration for heroes. Not sure if it was intended, but I thought it was pretty cool.
The professor read the book. The evil was released before Ash ever got there, right? Or am I missing something?
i liked this season, but...what was wrong with the transvestite? I thought she brought some good moments. I dont want to think he dident like her just because of her choice, im just a bit confused :)
Hey Foundflix. There is a trailer for season three that just got released. It seems to heavily hint towards more time travel or at least inclusion of the 80's. Maybe there will be a good payoff
am I the only one who remembers that Ash wasn't the one who read the book in the first place?
You own Hot Rod on BluRay? Respect.
Awesome Video
I went onto Netflix and couldn’t find season 2???
regardless of ending, I wish he would pronounce Rob Tapert's name correctly. It isn't tape ert. It is pronounced TAPPERT just spelled tapert. Get it right. And in the Evil Dead franchise nothing EVER has to make sense...it just IS. IF you watch the movies you'll see that 1 and 2 didn't gel and there is a reason for that...then Army of Darkness was totally off the wall. With plot holes everywhere. Quit taking it so seriously when it just a rocking fun show and not meant to be so serious. You want serious horror, go watch Freddie or Jason.
who gives a fuck how his name is pronounced......
but if the cabin isn't there and didn't read the book that means Scott Linda his dad and Scotts girlfriend and the time paradox would have fixed it back to them living with no parade and the town wouldn't have known he saved them am I right ?
Good to see an American with Peepshow on their shelf!
And Alan partridge next to it 😁
what about the end credit scene???
Dude i was in love with this show. Sucks it ended so soon
I really wish they had Ash saving his younger self at some point, that would have been amazing!!!
We did get Ash vs mini Ahsy Slashy
I'm so excited to see season 3
You do realize Ash never once read the book in the original trilogy right? In Evil Dead 1&2 he played recordings of Prof. Knowby reading the passages that awoke the Kandarian demons and in 3 he had Merlin read the book and supply him with the words that he inevitably screwed up and the potion that got him back home. It was only in comics, video games and in this show that he figured how to read the book and even then it was only very few passages.
What do you mean there was no real reason Ash should have his hand???
Yes, he went back in time but in that timeline before Young Ash got the cabin ergo Ash would have his hand because he never had to chop it off.
I'm drunk so I may be missing an obvious point right now.
I definitely have enjoyed seeing Ash again. I also thought Season 2 ending was done because there wouldn't be a season 3 and so they wanted a happy ending 4 Ash. Lee Majors was aersome and Ted Raimi was hilarious. Kelly and Pablo kickass!!! I do enjoy some of the silliness and gore. Ash puppet was cool. Baal as a doctor was a great episode. U r so right about wanting to see young Ash. I was bummed when that didn't happen. Great, fun show!!!
The original ending was changed? Groovy!
The only thing I hated about the aired ending was how everything was wrapped up in a neat little bow with the exception of 80s Ruby. It doesn't explain how everyone still remembers him as Ashy Slashy, how his sister is still dead, and a couple other loose ends. But I guess it does make sense considering this is Evil Dead and the continuity is fucked 6 ways till Sunday.
When Ash met Henrietta in the cabin, I was honestly expecting Ash to defeat the Evil before his past self comes in, and that's why the Evil wasn't around in the first two movies before Ash rocked up. I mean, if the Professor had read from the Necronomicon, why did it take Ash reading from the Necronomicon to release the Evil Dead the way it did? I thought that maybe Professor brings the Evil, Ash defeats the Evil and leaves thinking he's saved the day, but then past Ash rocks up with Linda (and/or friends) and boom, causal loop.
Hope see the other 2 season breakdowns
Damnit. I wanted to see a young Ash!
