Excellent wish this got out to everyone. As a retired nurse who helps many many people negotiate the system this is absolutely where people get stuck and the barriers that are put up. I have 100’s of examples where clients get stuck. I have been an aged care consultant at, acas assessor HCP STRC case manager to name a few. I 100 percent stand behind don’t accept No, ask for rationale in writing and do so respectfully, ALWAYS go to MP if hitting constant road blocks. Good luck. Note aged care quality and safety are NOT an always helpful .
Thanks you are very good in explaining but I find the situation too complex to handle for my 95 year old mother. I want to decline this homecare nightmare which is giving mum zero and stressing me out. How could an elderly person on their own navigate this awful system ?
I’m a retired nurse I’ve worked in the community for years. I’m now needing support at 77yrs of age. I can’t understand the system so how anyone not familiar with health care services manages defeats me 8:18
Here’s one I did a while back that talks about accessing your own workers and having their invoice paid from the Home Care Package funding: ua-cam.com/video/iLa7NI7pe8s/v-deo.html
Something I cannot understand. I have been assessed for Level 2. I am currently on CHSP. Because I work 2 days a week, teaching online, from home, I have been advised that my daily contribution will be close to $20/day. I am on a full aged pension, but I lose 50% of my income because I work (after the “work bonus”). If I only use part of the Level 2 amount, will I still have to pay this daily contribution? If so, I cannot afford to pay this daily contribution and I will have to stay on CHSP. Is that correct?
Thank You! You shoul run to represent us in Parliament!

It’s good to see people like you looking out for older people. Congrats on all you’re achieving. Stay well, Jim

Great information Jim, thank you.
It’s true. RAS are under pressure not to refer to ACAT. No packages available no more funding. Huge waiting lists.
Huge waiting lists!
Your videos are fantastic. Thank you so much
You're very welcome!
I found the following government paper very interesting, Quality Of Care Principles 2014.
Cheers
Merv
Jim, have you made any video about Self Management HCP? I have a look but I could not find any... Thank you!

Do you have to be on a pension to qualify?
