thank you! my family adopted 2 dogs around a 1.5 years ago. the abused one was a breeding dog at a puppy mill because of its rare white and grey poodle spots.
Great job previous and current dogs are rescues that were abused and this video is fantastic advice she nailed all of the main points I would give somebody looking to do this
Thanks for the tips! We found a scarred up, underweight pitbull on our walk today that we suspect had just been tossed out of a car, as we heard it peeling out and the dog appeared when we rounded the corner. He took to my fiance immediately so we're going to rehab him and he's joining the family
This should really help, I’m not necessarily a animal rescuer but I want to be some day, I just found a dog on the street a few days ago I’m gonna take her in‼️‼️
Very good video Bernie chechi the way some people mistreat and abuse their dogs is so unacceptable and just disturbing and some of them don't get to live a happy life I really hope more dogs can have good owners who understand and take care and most importantly learn more about them
Hi there I need some help if anyone can give advice I have a German shepherd staffordshire named Goldie. She's 5 years old and she was in a breeder house. Already had babies and got whipped. Her sister had visible whip scars Any loud sudden movements and noises makes her bark. However she does like everyone in my house except me, cause I'm 6'5 (I think she got abused by a tall man) She hates belts, water bottle crinkling, and starts barking growling defensively whenever I enter the house (but only if mom / step-dad are there) So far she trusts me enough to give her food water and treats and a occasional petting if mom / step-dad is there and again she loves every person and other dogs / cat in the house (just not me XD) So.... any advice for getting trust 😂
Does she like treats? Maybe always having a pocketful of treats to hand out generously will help her to build a positive association with you in addition to lots of praise. Especially treat her when she's calm in your presence, or get someone she trusts to treat her when she is calm when you are around. Rewarding any dog for being relaxed is a really good way of teaching them and encouraging them to naturally be calm. But only treat when they aren't expecting to receive a treat, otherwise they think they can demand a treat. Can you take her for a walk at the same time every day? Don't do it if it stresses her but perhaps you can gradually build up to a walk. It's so sad to think what she has faced and I'd say you are correct about your height and gender being what she is reacting to. We too have a rescue who was physically abused, tied up and starved because he wasn't suitable as a working farm dog. It breaks my heart when he gets scared of normal things a dog should not be scared of. We've only had him a week so we have a long way to go but he too is fearful of tall men. He's naturally attached himself to me (a woman). I think he will always be my dog but hopefully he can start to trust my husband more.
Thank you for the advice and it feels good there's someone with similar situation also 😂 I hope your dog will like your husband She does like treats and never turns them down. And actually a couple weeks ago she built the courage to sit on me when I was home alone I was shocked 😂 we had her for 2 and a half years. Now she'll sit on the couch if family is around But still is anxious and protective if mom is on the computer cause she's not on the couch
I was just adopted by a beautiful husky 3 days ago. He was favoring one leg and it kept getting worse. So yesterday I took him to the vet and he had shot with a hunting rifle. Now that he's inside he's clearly been abused. So sad people can treat animals like that. But I have 2 little girls that love to give him hugs 🙂

So glad to know he is now in a loving family. Kudos to you for taking that step to take him to the vet and adopting him. What's his name?
Nice one
Thanks for watching!
