I’m 71 years old. I lived there be where there was interstate 91. Most kids in town were always told to stay away from there even when it was new because it in a pretty deserted place even now it was in till the last two years that I ever heard it linked with anniversary Field Road as I always cut between Scott’s tower And anniversary field it has been re-done at least three times in my lifetime but it isn’t really a safe place never was. Wayback in the late 70s the state police arrested a man who had murdered several women down in the Boston area and they arrested him on the grounds of Scott tower he had been hiding in a basement of a very large and elegant house let across the highway. It’s far is the piss that’s the thing I remember about it the first time I saw it at seven and it’s never changed. The views from the top our brain but honestly I don’t know anyone that does it there. Thanks for reporting on it
Love the theme of your channel my guy. Used to do some urban exploring myself back before they called it that. If you haven't, check out the "Holy Land" in CT. Was still basically all there 20 years ago, just old. Was not "ok" to be there then. Town of Glastonbury in VT was our old pink unicorn, never found much other than the corner of an old cellar hole, rail road tracks, a horse shoe, and some guys property with a hunting camp-10 years later searching hunting grounds with my father we found out we had missed the old encampment for workers by about 5 years but the town itself had been gone forever. You prob have plenty of things to explore yourself, but I have a few more(more popular albeit) if you ever need ideas, and it would be cool to see a video of the holy land now. Rock this channel on my dude!
Thanks so much man, I appreciate this! Also, you’re in luck… I actually have a video on Holy Land USA on my channel already! I filmed a video there last summer, but I’ve been many times before that. Such a cool place!
Pretty damn cool video - I never knew about this place. It's a shame that the town of Holyoke let it get to such a state of disrepair. I loved the drone footage at the end, well done!! Cheers!
It would be nice to see it cleaned a d restored, and possibly even have some sort of security onsight to prevent graffiti and for safety reasons as well. Perhaps posts could be installed with plywood for those who have that deep urge to make graffiti? IDK, but it's nice to have things like this for people to enjoy as well as serving as a reminder of times when people actually knew how to build stuff.. Historic architecture is important, especially in times where just about everything built today is uninteresting, and built lousy.
Yeah, the only one I’ve personally been to is Ramage. I know North Adams used to have a big one, but I think that was recently refurbished and renovated just a few years ago…
@@j-mass from what I’ve found, the first floor was used in the early 2010s for some sorta music festival, but it looks to have some smashed windows and it’s very overgrown
It's really sad that some people feel the need to deface everything they see.. ..and even sadder that we cant clean it all off, and have 24/7 cams in the areas to catch people doing it, and make them pay for the costs of cleaning and a little time to think about what they've done. Society just has no respect for nice things..
Not sure if you know of the "shed" in Shedd Park in Lowell MA? As a teen in the early/mid 80s we were allowed hang out in there sometimes (not often , mostly during winter) and have fires in the large fireplace, .. didn't bother anyone or cause damage or chaos. It was a cool place for teens to just hang out, ..cops would stop in here and there to make sure everything was cool and everyone was behaving so we wouldn't lose the privilege.. ..of course the end of the 80s, start of the 90s ruined all of that, .. too bad
I’m actually from Chelmsford myself, so I’m very familiar with Lowell, and Shedd Park as well! That’s awesome! Unfortunately, I was never able to do that myself-but that sounds like such a good time! I think a protective and empathetic security force like the one you just described could make many abandoned locations accessible for people to enjoy!
@j-mass it was nice. As I said, it wasn't often but it was nice when we could. Seems we grew up in the same region, I was born in Lowell in 69, then we moved to Tyngsboro in 79, I moved back to Lowell for a bit, then lived in dracut for a few years, and 2 years ago I moved further West to north central MA. So much calmer out here.

i remember this when i was kid ,i am goanna be 75 yrs . 😄
When this tower was built in 1940, Holyoke had more people than it does today
Yeah, it’s wild. 53,750 in 1940, and 38,247 in 2020… textbook definition of deindustrialization and suburban flight right there.
Excellent presentation! My Dad was born and raised in Holyoke and often mentioned the Scott Tower. Thank you for researching the tower and sharing.
Thank you so much, I’m glad you liked it!
FOR THE UNDERTIME KINGDOM‼️‼️
THAT INTRO WAS ICONIC
Hahaha thank you!
Finally got around to watching this!! Bro this video was OUTSTANDING 🤩 Good work brother!!
Thanks so much bro, I appreciate the love! We gotta link up again soon bro! 🔥

Holyoke needs to do More about the Drug problem. What is up with all the out of state plates in Holyoke? Vacation destination! 😅😂
I was there today with my dad
Oh hey j-mass 👋 great vid as usual
Thanks so much man, I appreciate that!

Much appreciated man! Agreed, it is such a shame that this place was left to decay… I’m hoping the city moves forward with any redevelopment plans!

Hey, do you know any large abandoned mills or factories around the northwestern mass area?
Yeah, the only one I’ve personally been to is Ramage. I know North Adams used to have a big one, but I think that was recently refurbished and renovated just a few years ago…
@EDVERSiTY so did I, on my main account
@@j-mass is the one that was refurbished the blackinton woolen mill? I was planning on heading there
Yeah, that’s the one! As far as I’m aware, it isn’t abandoned anymore, but may still be worth a visit.

Good vid man. I live in holyoke. And walk to the tower often. I have heard that there is a preservation/ restoration in talks for it.
Must be cuz they cleared out all the land and it looks like they’re fixing it up a little
You could catch a blimp from the top.

Can’t say I’m shocked 😂
What's up man great video😊 does your shirt say chode Island😮LOL your hoodie strings
LMFAO 😂 I can see that! Nah, it says “Choate Island”, that’s an island in Ipswich, MA (pretty cool place btw)
@@j-mass no I've been out there before it's just your shirt was funny I was smoking a little something and laughing for a sec peace out man 😜
Alot of things are neglected in Holyoke
You should explore the Springfield Walmart after midnight!
Probably the scariest place I could ever possibly explore! 😂
Dang I'm on the East side of Massachusetts Springfield!
Holyoke was Beautyful until Urban renewal, in the late 60s ,it ruined a lot of cities .so much for government work .
Love the skit J-Mass
Thanks, it was fun to film!
Methinks we need a JMass urbanX video game!. Blonde princesses and keg bowling gorillas... wait Nintendo did that lol.
LOL 😂

you're trying to tell me how you look was incorporated in 1890 I don't think so
I went a few years back and there was a feral cat living in the tower.
Ah, a fitting dragon to guard the tower! 😂
@j-mass for real! That cat was mean as hell. Wouldn't let me in..
they found a bumsicle in there last year
