That is a great idea! I used to have one for all my camping trips/ gear, but I'm not camping much here on the coast of NC so I've gotten out of the habit. 😊
Don’t forget to label those itsy bitsy containers or you’ll put your face cream in your hair. Going on a longer trip I put things like toothpaste and hand cream into really small containers to carry on the plane and to freshen up. The larger amounts are in my checked luggage.
Great tip about prepping cotton pads, I never thought of that! I’ve done smaller containers (bottles, jars and even tiny dropper bottles for a couple of serums). I’m pre-trying a shampoo bar and conditioner bar. I don’t hold out much hope for those but we’ll see. I recommend buying a TSA approved, clear container for liquids. The width of it gives you more room than a quart sized ziploc bag. I just found this out after traveling all these years since 9/11 with a ziploc and still having to check a bag because of liquids. Sheesh!
About safety pins, people who like me have worked or helped out in dressing rooms for theater plays etc know that carrying a bunch of them on yourself is a very good idea, so I do this even for myself and will attach them on the waist of my outfit even for special occasions, I have "saved" countless of ladies or even gents that way and myself as well ;)
This is my favorite toiletry bag. I love Tim and Fin and they did an awesome job with this bag designing this bag. It is perfect of carry on only packing.
I love the Kitch shampoo & conditioner bars for travel. Ethique has good ones as well, & they offer tons of different types. I am personally not a fan of the Lush bars.
I keep a travel toiletry kit packed with its own set of everything: toothbrush, comb, razor, swabs, shower cap, deodorant, all liquids and meds, etc. I do check it before every trip (and try to check it when I get home as well) to see what needs replacing or refilling. If I run out of something on a trip and don't replace it before returning (like finishing the toothpaste on the last morning), I keep the empty container in the kit to remind me to refill it. This makes a packing list less necessary. The only thing I usually need to remember to add is my second pair of glasses, as backup. (I have two with different frames that I wear regularly so neither one lives in the kit, but I do keep a separate hard case there to remind me to pack them. When I only had one regular pair I kept the previous one in the kit for emergencies.) Why risk ending up somewhere without a toothbrush when it's so easy just to have one that stays in the kit?
The Tripped toiletry bag is the BEST! I would know, as I have tried several other brands... The Kitsch brand travel containers are also terrific. The Go-tubes (silicone) did weird things to my shampoo and conditioner. Try the Matador Flat-pack soap bar holder--eliminates another liquid. Thanks for the tips/tricks!
the matador has been added to my list for a few weeks now, i am looking for a better toiletry bag...currently carry two, a tumi flat one and one from target.
@@TrippedTravelGear I have the same Tripped toiletry bag set (actually I have 2 sets in blue and gray,) and I am afraid to use the clear one for my liquids because although that is what is supposed to be used for, it is WAY bigger than a true quart size. Have you ever be stopped by TSA using this clear bag?

So thank you again, you guys really do mean the world to me and the positive feedback keeps me going! ❤️
Thank you for the advise, I’m trying to reduce plastic in my everyday life and one of the first things I did was to try solid shampoo some years now, I have curly hair though and I need a lot of conditioner which I still not found in a bar yet here in Greece. In every trip I try to minimise and try products with multiple uses. One thing I’d love to resolve is a way to organise my containers in the shower where there’s always little space to keep them, so next time I will try a mesh bag I found and see how this goes. Nice and safe trips to all 😊
Decanting eye makeup remover has been troublesome so I actually found a 100ml bottle at my local Pharmacy. No leaking. Even though I’m staying in places that’ll have soap etc, I like to take my own shampoo as it suits my hair better especially with hard water - decant what I need. Even though travelling for many years I love watching suggestions like yours. There’s always something new and better. Cheers from 🇦🇺
I really hated how much shampoo bars cost, so I was super happy when I discovered both Trader Joe's and Lidl grocery stores have their own branded bars for under $5 each. I've been really happy with them, they work great on my hair (straight, fine hair, not oily). I have noticed that Trader Joe's has not had them the past couple of times I've been there, don't know if they've been discontinued. Hope not! Haven't found a lotion bar I love yet. I have also started carrying sheets of laundry soap with me for long trips when I have to do some sink laundry. Moving to as many solids as I can.
I’ve seen somewhere…take a few of those ikea flat drawer dividers when zipped become different sizes of box organizers. One can use in hotel drawers, set on a vanity to divide or gather different types of products or tools, OR one for every person in your hotel room. No more digging into a dividers while packing your suitcase.
When traveling to Scotland with carry on only, I could not find travel sized unscented deodorant. So, I took my gel type deodorant, cranked it like I was going to apply it, and scraped off a one time application into a small travel container. I had to give the receiving container a little shake at times to get the product to slide on down - repeating until I had enough for 15+ days. This gel (I was using Secret Outlast) was easily applied with fingertips, and the stuff stayed in great condition for months. It saved a ton of room, and me from having to use a scented product. For my husband, he absolutely sticks to a particular stick deodorant. Again, I could not find a travel size. I simply cranked the tube up, and with a paring knife, sliced off a "hunk of the solid deodorant". This went into a plastic sandwich bag, and was in great shape all through our trip. He just opened the bag, leaving the product in the bag, but kind of peeling the sides back, and applied it as usual. This worked very well. The gel went in the 3 in 1 bag for liquids, and the solid into his shave kit. Happy traveling!
Dr Bronner's (yeah the one with the weird label) can be used as a shampoo (helpful for me as I don't tolerate strong scents), hand washing liquid, even toothpaste--nah! (comes in a small regular shaped container. Does not last forever and starts getting rancid so something to think about if going somewhere that is very hot. Also it's a little harsh.
Contact lens cases are super useful! Tip: when using contact len cases (which I use all the time, even in my regular purse) take a magic marker and indicate what's in there. I use a special lip cream, so it says "L" on that contact lens case.
I keep a toiletry kit and a liquids bag packed with most items. Each has a list on an index card of the items I need to add each trip. For example, solid deodorant is on the toiletry list. P.S. This makes a great gift for for someone starting to travel or who is starting regular business travel.
Thanks for the tips. The ziploc inside the clear bag is also a good idea in case something spills. My sister in law did have her tweezers confiscated during a trip so you may want to pack a cheaper version. My father's GF had her travel umbrella confiscated on the same trip, so the staff may have wanted these things for themselves (or maybe other countries have different rules?)
Thank you for your video hacks...many which I currently use. Yes. Please do a video on the new products in your Amazon cart after you buy and use the items. Our family will travel to Southern Italy in a few weeks. Every tip/hack will help. I Iike your idea for international travel about putting liquids in a Ziploc bag inside the clear zippered bag. I will definitely use that tip. Questions: Do you put your safety pins on the outside of your bag after you go thru the TSA line? Do you need to pull out tweezers, nail clippers, manicure scissors, and medications (One dietary supplement is a soft gel.) going thru TSA line? Cathy
I put the safety pins on at home, the TSA have no problems with those. And as for tweezers, nail clippers and manicure scissors, you can just leave them in your toiletry bag. I always carry my supplements and two small medications I take in my daily pill containers inside my toiletry bag, and I have never had an issue. I think if you have large amounts of pill bottles, or liquid medications (like insulin), it would be best to pack those separately so you could pull them out for the airport security if they ask. Hope you have an amazing trip to Italy!! 😊
Just watched - great tips, thanks! Just one thing to note - some European airports will ask you to pull out your hair tools when going through security. It’s a pain and not everywhere, but just be aware there are a few!
Most of my toiletries have been switched to solid form at home. The shampoo, conditioner and lotion bars can have small pieces cut off for travel. I also switched to tooth tablets at home so easy to pack those. It was a way to eliminate plastic and support local companies in my area that make these things. Since traveling again I have also found it makes packing a carry on so much easier and less stressful.
@@GenxGypsy1968 an added bonus a tooth paste tab chewed a little with a sip of water swish around for a minute make s great mouthwash for a breath refresher. Don’t forget to spit!😀 thank you for being open to trying new things.
I like my shampoo and conditioner bars from Basin. I’d like to try some different brands also. I’ve also used a sunscreen stick and solid lotion, but that feels somewhat waxy to me.
I would love to see reviews on products that you have on your list. I just got myself anti perspirant wipes off Amazon and they work really well. Love this video!!
I use Gemz shampoo and conditioner pods. They are dry, and you add water in the shower right before using them. Place the pod in the palm of your hand, add water, WAIT 3 seconds, Al then wash your hair. Same here it’s conditioner. You can buy them in several formulas, and they come for short, medium, and long hair.
Working on solids 😻 I’ve ONE lush shampoo bar I love ❤️ But the lotion bar due to skin allergies has become a battle 🤦♀️ Pacifica has deodorant wipes I use for travel. I’ve got a few left of toothpaste tabs I love but they are not made anymore so that battle will start soon for another kind 👀
I'm trying to reduce my plastic use, so I have switched to bar shampoo (Lush). I got the most moisturizing bars, so I didn't get conditioner. I'm looking into moisturizing body bars next.
That liquids bag is fairly large, have you ever been questioned on it? I’d love to have one that big but not sure I’d get through security at our local airport (🇨🇦)
In the last year I have been through many security checks and have not removed my liquids from my luggage except in Heathrow. Nor have any of my travel companions. One had a full-size aerosol can that was confiscated.
I have never been questioned on this TSA approved bag, nor the others that I've used for the 5 years prior. However, I have never had to go through Canadian airport security with just carry on luggage during that time. You could always do like I show in the video and pack everything in a quart size bag inside the TSA bag if you are unsure. 😊
I read somewhere in the past couple of weeks that in Britain, they are moving towards being able to completely eliminate the liquids rule for all airports...but it still may be a couple of years off.
@@GenxGypsy1968 it does seem a bit over the top, some of the regulations. Especially things like peanut butter and deodorants. Of course if they do ease up the regulations I’ll pack too much and never manage just carry on 🤣
Unfortunately since they've discontinued the backpack I've used for years, I'm on the search for a good personal item backpack to replace it with. I've got my eye on one I think I'm going to try for my upcoming Japan trip. amzn.to/3XeBjC5
Hi. Can you recommend reliable, economically priced travel toilet paper in a mini roll with dispenser to fit in my purse and backpack for international travel? I learned from past international travels that it's a necessity, especially when sightseeing and hiking. Tissies in mini packs will work if I can't find the mini rolls. Charmin used to make it for travel. I've checked on Amazon and in multiple stores in the travel sections but no luck.
DIY a TP pack easy! Take a drinking straw and wrap enough TP around that you think you'll need/use. Slide out straw and pack in a zip top baggie to keep dry, pack in some wipes and good to go! Literally!
Yes, if you are checking your bags you can have full size bottles. However, I would suggest packing those items in at least one ziplock bag if not two. With the changes in air pressure in the baggage storage area, the liquid will most likely leak. Hope this helps!😊
Wipes! Virtually everything comes in a white now and you can pack those in your bag with no problem. And save a little amount of space, especially if you wanna take peanut butter and salad dressing and go in the liquid container
I've seen the deodorant wipes and I'm going to try those out. My only concern is that I have very sensitive under arm skin...unless I get hypoallergenic deodorant I break out 😢. And YES, always save a little room for those "liquid" snacks!!
I have the same Tripped toiletry bag set and I am afraid to use the clear one for my liquids because although that is what is supposed to be used for, it is WAY bigger than a true quart size. 7:19 Have you ever be stopped by TSA using this clear bag?
If you are flying from the US to Mexico, you should be just fine using the regular liquids bag and from my experience flying from Central America back to the US, you shouldn't need a ziplock bag for that either. Have a great trip! ❤️
I wonder if the TSA approved liquid bag is a new concept b/c I asked 3 different employees at IAH airport and none of them knew what I was talking about. First, I asked a staff at the airline I will be flying with who pointed me to TSA b/c she wasn't sure what I was talking about. The TSA guy had no idea and wanted to point me back to the airline. Lol Then, I asked one of the guys who works at IAH. He had no idea either. 😅
I have been using some form of a "TSA approved liquids bag" for over 5 years now. First one I bought at Walgreens back in 2016/2017 and I have had several since. I've never had a problem with any of them. Maybe they were thinking it was something the TSA was distributing?
@@GenxGypsy1968 I've been seeing videos of UA-cam travelers who said they picked the TSA approved liquid bags for free at the airport so I assumed the bags are distributed by either TSA or the airport. I guess I misunderstood? 🤷🏻♀️
@@SmileAlwayz I know the bags you are talking about. The airport I work at use to provide those bags as well. Unfortunately, I have not seen the bags since Covid hit. Many airports may not provide them anymore.
I don't care for clear TSA approved bags as they have extremely sharp corners on them .. they can cut thru flesh as easily as a pocket knife and I'm surprised TSA was handing them out!
When looking at travel “shampoo” bars, make extra sure it’s shampoo and not superfatted soap, unless you pack some acidic liquid. You *can* have packets of real lemon, but why bother? I used superfatted bars at home and traveling for years, and suddenly got the waxies, where my hair stayed coated. Sad, because they also were fab as body and face bars. Now, you have some bars that are actually shampoo and not soap. (Detergent, officially but who wants to think of that….like castor oil soap versus body wash) Just like any shampoo you get, you need the one that works for you and your hair! Dry hair? Moisturizing! Oily? Not moisturizing! Aging? Flyaways, but normal scalp? Go for a lighter moisturizing shampoo bar. I like HiBar for conditioner. Maybe conditioner only will work for a few days, test it at home. Lush discontinued their good shampoo bar, based in coconut oil. I have the cinnamon one and …it works. I’ll not replace it, though, it does smell great.
Great advice!! I do have thick, frizzy, "aging" hair (LOL), so finding the right ones, especially conditioner, is going to take some trial and error I'm sure! 😊

Of course if they do ease up the regulations I’ll pack too much and never manage just carry on 🤣
Can you please link a good Backpack for travel? Thank you
Unfortunately since they've discontinued the backpack I've used for years, I'm on the search for a good personal item backpack to replace it with. I've got my eye on one I think I'm going to try for my upcoming Japan trip. amzn.to/3XeBjC5
In this video you have a small white round container that you put some type of liquid in. Is that leak proof and where did you find this?
Literally!
Thank you. Clever idea!
In the check in luggage, can we pack our liquids in normal containers?
Yes, if you are checking your bags you can have full size bottles. However, I would suggest packing those items in at least one ziplock bag if not two. With the changes in air pressure in the baggage storage area, the liquid will most likely leak. Hope this helps!😊
Yes! Please do
yes please to solid items you try & like.
I'm working on it, still have a couple of more things to try but hoping to have a video out by the end of the month 😊
I’ve used this bag extensively on domestic flights (USA) and it has never been questioned. I use a plain plastic quart bag for overseas travel.
I apologize if someone already asked, but what solid lotion do you use?
Could you link the video you did reviewing solid items?
Is it an issue if your carryon liquids bag is slightly bigger than a quart size?
Good Video 👍🏻👍🏻
Have you ever tried toothpaste tablets to have less liquid's?
that's a good idea. :)
They are on my Amazon list to try 😊
My dentist said not to use the tablets as they are harsh on your enamel when chewing them.
Will I need to put my items in a Ziploc bag before putting in my toiletries bag going to Mexico or can I leave in my toiletries bag?
If you are flying from the US to Mexico, you should be just fine using the regular liquids bag and from my experience flying from Central America back to the US, you shouldn't need a ziplock bag for that either. Have a great trip! ❤️
Can I pack my liquids in my checked bag?
Yes, there are no limitations on sizes when you pack in your checked bag 😊
Your backpack link doesn’t work
I would love to know where did you purchase your toiletry bag?
I have a link to it in the description below the video, just click where it says “show more” 😊
I wonder if the TSA approved liquid bag is a new concept b/c I asked 3 different employees at IAH airport and none of them knew what I was talking about.
First, I asked a staff at the airline I will be flying with who pointed me to TSA b/c she wasn't sure what I was talking about.
The TSA guy had no idea and wanted to point me back to the airline. Lol
Then, I asked one of the guys who works at IAH.
I don’t have that problem.
❤
When looking at travel “shampoo” bars, make extra sure it’s shampoo and not superfatted soap, unless you pack some acidic liquid. You *can* have packets of real lemon, but why bother?
I used superfatted bars at home and traveling for years, and suddenly got the waxies, where my hair stayed coated. Sad, because they also were fab as body and face bars.
Now, you have some bars that are actually shampoo and not soap. (Detergent, officially but who wants to think of that….like castor oil soap versus body wash)
Just like any shampoo you get, you need the one that works for you and your hair!
