    I like that you use Craftsman tools to work on your Craftsman Jointer!

    I have the exact same model I inherited from my dad (no stand and his came in a gold color). I just finished cleaning and oiling/greasing mine and putting it back together this past weekend. I wish this video had come out a few weeks earlier, LOL! There were things I didn’t take apart because I didn’t want to mess anything up, but now when I have time I can go back and totally refurbish it. Thank you for the thorough video!

    Jeff, I’m new to your channel, but really appreciate the information. I bought a Craftsman/King Seeley bandsaw and 6” jointer and a Delta drill press last year. All 1940s/50s. The jointer needs the most work. I’m looking forward to your videos. Thanks for posting them.

    Nice start on that Jeff. I'm looking forward to this series. I just picked up an Atlas 3100 table saw. Eight inch. All the parts are in good shape but the motor and motor mount were missing. I plan to fabricate the motor mount and I'm looking for a vintage motor. Sheet metal is banged up a bit. I'm working on it. Did Atlas ever make tools for Craftsman? Thanks Jeff. Keep up the great work.

      Congratulations on the Atlas table saw. Actually Atlas was the primary supplier of Drill Presses and other tools before King Seeley took over. Even after KS took over in 1946 many items made by Atlas such as the metal lathes, cross slide vises and rotary table and the drill press head and table lift and MSA were all made by atlas.

    An excellent series for anyone rebuilding or restoring these beautifull machines. Could you do a video on how you came to being an enthusiast of Craftsman products, from the hand-tools, wrenches to the big machines. That would be very interesting.📐🪛🛠🔨🔧

      That is a good idea. I do not know if a lot of people really care but I will do one as well as a shop tour to give some context to some of the things I talk about in various videos. Thank you for the suggestion.

    at 9:58 there is a access hole cut out in the jointer mount thats on the motor side..What i dont understand is why there is not a access hole like that on the other side??..that would make leveling the bed so much easier!!!..what is the purpose of the access hole for on this side?..there is nothing to adjust underneath really on this side..i think im going to cut out a hole on the other mount of mine so its easier to level the table

      I think that cutout is for (among other things) to allow for installing the powr panl. Well at least that is what I used it for. As for the other mount, I agree, it would have made adjusting that rear leveling stud so much easier. Good luck with cutting yours out.

      @@JeffsShop i opted not too, there is a thick stiffener rib in it and it would be hard to cut out..i bolted it up like it was..at first i thought i could swap the feet on the jointer and switch the mounts but that was a no go also as the bolt pattern was different..what a pain to level!..i was using mirrors so i could see if the leveling nuts would turn while i tightend the locking bolt, luckily they didnt turn so now i know i dont have to hold the nut while tightening the bolt so i wont need the mirrors the next time..but there shouldn't be a next time..i just got the thing a couple nights ago so its all new to me

      @@rat8356 yep unless something crazy happens, that rear table should set one and done. Still a PITA though.

    One thing I am learning from these videos is to buy the machine as complete as possible. I have several machines that I bought that are incomplete, taking up valuable real estate in my garage. Too many projects!

    • @JeffsShop
      @JeffsShop  5 місяців тому

      Although, often I am forced to buy an incomplete machine. At times you can get two incomplete machines for a cheaper price and cannibalize one of them to complete the other one. It really depends on what is available in your area when you are searching.
