- This is the 2017 DS5 in Elegance trim and it is the flagship for the new DS brand. We first reviewed the car back at its launch, but does it still have what it takes to compete in the luxury market? Powered by a 178bhp 2.0 litre BlueHDi engine DS claims that the DS5 will do 62.8 MPG. 400Nm of torque makes it a strong motorway performer.
DS5 sports unique styling that look more concept car than reality. This luxury hatchback seats 5 with the individual design continuing for the interior. A 468 litre boot is offered. Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link can be used within the touchscreen infotainment display.

Great video. I watched this along with other videos a couple of months ago before I finally made up my mind to pick one up. I bought a DS5 SPORT in white pearl, brand new. Definitely the most interesting car I have ever driven.

These cars are ageing very well, and extremely durable, 100k miles and still very fresh inside and out. A real tribute to DS, the styling is simply stunning. Its not competing with the likes of boring audis and bmws, its way better.

I simply adore this car. Maybe they could put infotainment from Peugeot 3008 and it would be perfect.
Not sure when/if DS plan to facelift this car before an all-new model is introduced. Something interesting coming from DS at Geneva.

I could price a turd the same price of a DS but it would still be a turd, just like a DS is. That probably explains why I don't see many on the road either.
No Problem what so ever ompeteing with and beating the living daylights out of German vehicles German engineering is no longer anything to write home about it is very second rate of poor construction cheaply built from cheap materials all in all a lot of mony wasted of poor quality German SCRAP for want of a better description .
No apple carplay in the DS5 and ive never heard of one where andriod mirrorlink works either. Bluetooth usually has a problem with the phone mic, were these things even tested, or is this a review based on reading a spec sheet? It is a heavy posh skin on a C4 chassis with mcpherson struts at the rear - hence the terrible ride which everyone else seems to notice apart from this guy. One of the big reasons he didn't see many others on the road.
TONY BELAS If you did some research you would know that the car was substantially revised. Apple CarPlay is absolutely available and the suspension was revised. It isn't a smooth a silk, but much better than before.
Sorry apple car play is available in the revised DS3 & 4 not the 7 inch touchscreen of the DS5, The suspension 'review' was back in 2015 which is exactly the same facelift DS tested here and was limited to different shocks. the suspension ( mcpherson struts from the c4) remains exactly the same. my research is just fine, thanks! but thanks to for caring enough to reply.
TONY BELAS I always try to reply to comments of value. Please do remember that I road test cars for a living and have done for many years. I can tell you for a fact that the DS5 has CarPlay.
Apple Carplay was definitely available on the DS5 that I test drove and have subsequently put down a deposit on.

Have you seen what happens when the car ages, the quality is just not there, its why the Germans out sell it , an last longer ,....... dont think the French can make a quality car comes to that,...... tell me one ???? .
alan cooke all I can say is that I drove xantias and Xmas and the materials are all there plus the same engines. IDK why people still fall on the propaganda that if it's not German it won't last, which is false as we see many old cars out there that aren't German almost flawless as long as they get good treatment.
Sedna S please im not doubting the DS5 fine attributes in fact i own one ,the car is a 2012, 7,000 -Mile , DS style its plastic is already perishing on my model split round door seals, carpets are not as plush/thick as my VOLVO, doors dont clunk close, [other issues too], for me the car cost cuts, what is fine if you accept that, but its a big reason German cars out sell out last out re-sale value the French citroen DS or not
