Birkenstock is a shoemakers favorite as they need repair and ca be repaired, as shown here. It only works where those shoes sell at high prices. A work hour in Germany is more expensive this this particular paii of Arizonas - if you got them at the usual discount (Sales).

The footbed can be replaced, is readily available and cheap but the sole buying the sole is difficult and expensive and for some reason is only available in the USA.
@@RepairStudio Thank you for your answer! What about the liquid that you rub on white leather at 4:10. (My purse also got a similar black strain, and I cannot clean that out.)
Can you post a link to the cleaner you use for the footbed? I have read your responses but they don’t really name the exact product. You do a fantastic job and I didn’t even know the footbed could be cleaned like this! Thank you
Materials plus 2 hours of work.. Is it too much? Problem is that industrial reproduction cut off the cost of the objects, but their repair that require hands work cost more. It is capitalism.
The thing that makes Birkenstocks super comfortable is that the cork molds to your feet overtime so it gives a custom fit feel. Replacing Birkenstocks completely disregards the purpose of Birkenstocks and the reason why Birkenstocks are so popular and in first place.
They look fab! Is it possible to clean the upper inside on synthetic straps? Ones with velcro fastenings are very hard to keep velcro looking clean n fresh..
If you gently sponged the back of the synthetic upper would that clean up even a little, with out warping or damaging it.. Thanks for your reply.. Appreciated greatly..
Some people are attached to their shoes...sentimental value...but simple economics is at play here also...$130-$75=55...I would rather save $55 and not break in a new pair of shoes anytime....also you are not contributing to our landfills....Repair if you care
Because first of all, it's way more ecological. You are just not throwing things away. 2. It can be cheaper to repair them. 3.Birks mold to your feet. to buy new ones you have to go through that process again.
Or you can go to a Birkenstock’s store and they’ll do it for you for cheap (sometimes free)...this is a very expensive, time killing project that could potentially RUIN the sandals....I wouldn’t try this y’all...
Really!? I live in the UK I do not know of any Birkenstock stores where they will fix ones sandals. Maybe in some countries they do it but I would be very surprised if they did. I know Birkenstock use to do a service where one would post off the sandals and Birkenstock would fix them, new cork footbed and sole. . but I don't think they do this service anymore.
Patrick, I will suggest a better solution. Go to the Birkenstock website and look for Authorized Birkenstovk Repair Center. We have to be vetted by our supplier that we buy authorized parts, that we have the experience needed to repair them, that we carry the parts expected that customers come in for, like soles, buckles, recognizing kinds of footbeds, etc. It is a real business.

Restoring and Preserving Birkenstocks is a passion and hobby of mine. Birks are worth far more to the original owner than when they bought them new. ❤
Love your videos, so relaxing !

Amazing job!
What did you use for cleaning stains ?
@Taggy KiKuku suede cleaner for insole cleaning
@@RepairStudio Thank you for your answer! What about the liquid that you rub on white leather at 4:10. (My purse also got a similar black strain, and I cannot clean that out.)
@Taggy KiKuku I used a thinner but this isn't a leather.
Amazing! What is that little round brush for the stains?
It's a thinner.
So where can we buy reconditioned Birkenstock’s? They look like almost-new, and probably good for you another 10 years!😁💕🙏🏼

Awesome! BTW I have recently subscribed😇
Thank you🙏
Mine looks exactly like the before. Is getting it restored worth it?
Yes! I just got mine resoled and recorked, always best to try and repair before buying new :-)
What glue do you use to seal up the cracks in the cork? The one you applied with the needle. Would something like VLP, vinyl and leather glue work?
I used an all purpose cement. you can use that glue too:)
What did you use when removing the stains from the straps?
I suspect isopropyl alcohol.
In New York City, that repair costs $75-85. New Birkenstocks cost $130.
😲

I’m sorry, but with the preview of the before shoe i’d lose hope and just bye new pairs 🤭😳

It's better to leave the velcro especially female part of velcro. Because cleaning may damage the velcro. Then velcro won't work properly.

I agree it is time consuming and any mistake could potentially ruin the shoe.
