people have actually used cigarettes as an argument against black clover? have they forgotten that base naruto AND shippuden had cigarettes, radios and even low end computers, never saw that brought up though
Biggest plot hole for me was Asta going to trial with little evidence and everyone is just like "Dang, if only there was someway for us to see what had really happened during the attack of the elves. Too bad no one has magic that could show us the memories of any of the dozens of people who were actually there..." Marx is even in the same episode I'm pretty sure, just yelling at Julius about nothing like always.
Yeah, that could be a plot hole. But since it’s likely marx was working with Julius/Lucius means that was possibly the intent. The whole battle with the spade doesn’t happen or is drastically different if this happens.
I think a good reason why they wouldn’t wanna bring Marx into this is probably the whole “working with Lucius” theory, but it could also be that the rich just wanna get their kicks and just put an end to a poor person having the power to literally become the second (king being first, but not actually that powerful) most powerful authority in the Clover Government by assert their views of “the rich deserve everything, and the poor deserve nothing!” Since that view is very well asserted in the series amongst the snobs. Just a thought I had.
Doesn't Damnatio Kira quite literally state that the Magic Parliament doesn't really care about hard evidence and they're incredibly biased and terrible toward lower class people?
The situation is tricky cause I think that if they brought Marx in then it looks like clover is trying to defend a devil after one nearly destroyed the whole country. Also, it’s not like all the higher ups there would even let marx use his power on asta. They all wanted to put the blame on one person and asta was the perfect person to do so.
People were calling a fucking cigarette filter a plot hole.... That's like saying the fire nation in avatar is a big ass plot hole cause they have seam power when other people are still in primitive houses xD I don't get that logic at all lol
Lotus literally drives a car made out of smoke in Black Clover so if a cigarette is a plot hole then why isn't that? People are just too stupid to enjoy a work of fiction sometimes
Thank you for defending this series. I hate hearing people say "I don't like or want to watch black clover because the protagonist constantly yelling" and my reply is always "so we're gonna ignore the same thing in other shounen? Like my hero, demon slayer, dragon ball, Naruto, etc?" Also calling it generic. It's like watch more than 3 episodes or read the manga so you don't have to hear the yelling
@@toolazyforaname my comeback is always this. What show do you consider "unique"? Especially when it comes to the character and story of the show and not just the power system

The moment you mentioned that time line "errors" was the plot hole, I automatically thought of Lucius. Just his existence and the timing of this video leads me to think that for some odd reason, Lucius had manipulated time.. 5-6 months worth of time. Before the time skip. Bc just what if the dark triad did not get used to their devil powers and Lucius decides "I'll give you six MORE months" an manipulated time. We the readers wouldn't understand until it was revealed that time has most likely been manipulated at least once within the series. So I leave time manipulation to be a plausible reason as to why this plot hole exists. If that's not the case, it's like you said.. an easy fix. Orrr, given how long the movie is being made and Asta's attire within the movie, this very well can reveal where those missing five months can be given that anime canon exists and doesn't exactly fill in the entire time between Dorothy's statement to Noelle and the actual start to the time skip
Lucius potentially manipulated time since 500 years Mark my words. At the least he's been manipulating time when licht lost his sword which was placed in the First dungeon. (Remember how time stood still when yuno got to bell)
The whole timeline has been weird since at least the sea temple arc because Asta and Noelle claim they’re still 15 in the sea temple arc when that arc takes place after Marie’s birthday which is near the end of December meaning they both would be well past 16 by then.
It is possible that Julius having Astaroth could have seen that within the first six month period that they was not strong enough, therefore the other five months was. Rewinded within anyone's knowing leading into the anime filler arc which is stated to be cannon and if it is it could be a way of foreshadowing and hints at the animation studio and the author working together but I doubt it
The only way it being 18 months could make sense is if Tabata is counting the six months Asta and Yuno spent training before joining the Magic Knight as part of the 18 months for some reason, in which case the math would then fit perfectly. If Lucius is behind the time discrepancy, perhaps he "stole" the missing time somehow. Julius said that his Time Magic works by actually stealing time, so Lucius could have stolen 5-6 months worth of time with his magic.
@@Br0ku 17 years old if you round up. They were 15 years and 5 months at the time of receiving their Grimoires, so adding 18 months equals out to 16 years and 11 months, which is close enough. Keep in mind, the day Asta and Yuno were left at the church was not the same day they were born. There was definitely some amount of time that passed between when Yuno was born and when the coup happened, which could have been about a month. The coup didn't happen literally the next day after he was born.
@@darthgoku1580 except… no. Noelle would be 16 years and 9.5 months. Rounding up 2.5 months is too much. Besides, the anime canon already proved it’s been 18 months since they joined the brigade. Since Asta and Noelle celebrated being knights for a year and then trained in the heart for 6 months.
@@Br0ku Then I guess we can just chalk it up to Tabata making a mistake and the editor not doing their job properly. It's an editor's job to catch things like this and let the author know so they can resolve it before it turns into something much bigger, like a plot hole. Wouldn't be the first time the anime has fixed a mistake from the manga. For example, we are told that Patri no longer has his Grimoire, but earlier in the manga when Patri is shown heading towards the Heart Kingdom with Fana, Vetto, and Rhya, you can see his Grimoire floating beside him. It's still there in the volume release too, but in the anime version of that scene his Grimoire is not there. So the anime actually fixed something that even the official volume release didn't. When it comes to editors, Tabata's current editor Fukuda is also pretty young and inexperienced, this being his first editor job, which I suspect may have played a part in the Spade arc turning out the way that it did.
the timeline is definitely super iffy. the 18 months statements about yuno and asta joining. Nero watching thr grimoire for 500 years. yet she doesn't know about licita and liebe. Asta and yuno being dropped off on the same day despite lucifero searching for a host in liebe despite the spade rebellion already happening? since liebe and licita meet minimum months after she dropped off asta. so months after rhe rebellion should have happened. disciples being 25. despite 17 years happening since the rebellion. truly lot of "plot holes" happen with the timeline. but given the main final antagonist is a time manipulater alot of timeline issues might be intentional
I dont think these are necessarily "plot holes", they're just untouched topics that have never really been explained in the story directly. But this is something that has always happened in tv shows and how every event connects seamlessly without issue even tho there's discrepancies in between. At the end of the day I just think they're put aside by the writer so the whole story doesn't get too confusing and the risk of creating IMPORTANT plot holes becomes much lower.
Wouldn’t Julius being shown as the 4th sibling and him shown to be manipulating time (e.g nama & lilith fight and many more ex of time being messed w) kinda close up this “plot hole”
Not really.I could explain the age of the dark disciples by saying that Lucius and his time magic have a similar effect to Lucifero and his gravity. It could affect the things around by speeding up their time or slowing it down.
Nani? I just finished watching episode 170 for the first time today, and i must have missed an episode, if Julius is the 4th member/sibling of the shadow triad
One answer ... "time devil" It was hinted by a few hidden things in "demon war arc" that time devil Astaroth manipulated time in the whole series. Means that this isnt a plot hole at all.
there was an anime only episode before the time skip when it was a year after Asta and yuno joined the Knights, during the episode Asta was with Noelle watching the new knights who were applying and then the 6 months time skip occured making it 18 months
there's even strange timeline sequences before asta's journey starts. with vanessa being recruited to the black bulls at the very least 15 i'm assuming and being only 4 years younger than yami who's 29 atm. this means yami would've had to be captain at 19 during that moment and william vangeance captain at 16 or 17 since they both became captain at the same time. this can't be the case since rill was stated as the youngest captain in history at 19. lots of weirdness before Asta's journey starts, i just write it off as Lucius doing his thing to curate the right timeline for whatever.
while it's more likely to be a slip of the mind by Tabata, it could be a 'cultural semantic' of sorts. i can only speak for korean from my background knowledge so grains of salt to be taken here; we rarely say "I'm 15 and a half years old," (as a crude example). Instead, it's become more commonplace to count the years starting the first month. For example, my birthday's in January so I could say I turned 21 five-and-a-half years ago, but it's just as succinct to say "five years ago". Since seniority is something culturally centered in Korea, something as nuanced as a few months difference is easily swept under the rug in favor of simplicity. this is still skirting the edge of error and nuance - but i can see how one would lump "six months" and "one year" in the same category, especially with the change in editors. in other manga i've read so far, in which the author specifically lists the number of months, it's often due to some canon like a "3-month recovery phase" or "5-month long ritual". lastly, there could be a 'mistranslation' of sorts (not what you're thinking). for example, in korean, i could say '3 months' as 석달 (3 months specifically), or in a more casual context, 'less than half a year or so'. like i said, much nuance here but it's something i see here and there when it comes to fans comparing each char's specific birthdays/months, and the social context it's applied to
Ah man my favorite magical sword wielding knight show with the guy who has the goal of being the wizard King accompanied by a devil and a rag tag team of people who can teleport, cut space time, and spawn magic food got its immersion ruined by a cigarette filter not being historically accurate to wizard who smokes it😥
The biggest plot hole in Black Clover is how Asta's mom with her power to drain life from everyone and everything with even a shred of mana managed to have intercourse long enough to bear a child considering she straight up unalived a snake just by it attempting to bite her. Being that close for any duration of time even 30 seconds would have ended the man. Additionally, she sent Asta away because she feared she'd drain his life because that's what she does, but he doesn't have any mana meaning he'd have been fine around her which she knew because Liebe was fine around here and had no mana. Meaning she abandoned her child for literally nothing. (Ignoring the fact that him being born would have already had him close enough to her for her powers to end him then and there anyway.)
The impregnation part is something that baffles me too, but there’s no way Tabata didn’t plan that when he created Licita, I may have too much trust on Tabata, but it just feels that he has everything planned out. when it comes to the pregnancy, it makes sense to me that it’s okay as the baby basically shares mothers life force, everything Licita might have taken from Asta was given back the same time
Tabata's editor must have mixed up how long it's been since Asta and Yuno got their grimoires with how long it's been since they joined the Magic Knights
Which squad was Julius commanding before becoming Wizard King. The Aqua Deer. The current captain of the Aqua Deer is where this time inconsistency originates. What is the possibility Lucius put some spell on Rill or Rill is in league with Lucius as well. While having been on the Grey Deer. There was a reason Lucius recruited Yami to the Grey Deer. Also the same squad Nact’s brother Morgen was on. Coincidence that people who time inconsistencies come from are linked to the Grey/Aqua Deer.
If any one is interested, things not in their poroper time peiod, like the filters or rifles or lab, are called anachronisms. Plenty of stories throughout history have had anachronistic things and even people. That's part of why fiction is fun. I can imagine it would be frustrating to not understand that and see plot holes everywhere, good thing we can just suspend our disbelief.
Black Clover have few plot holes, the thing is Tabata doesn't retcon a lot (example for a retcon is Kishimoto making Nagato's Rinnegan Madara's) bc he forgot something he wrote
May i state that the dragon ball dinosaur thing is not a plot hole. They have dragon balls, scientists of wild tech, and magic. They could either A revive them, B revive them using tech, or C using magic to bring them back.

Asteroth's time magic could reconcile a shitload.. But yeah, the thing about fantasy shows is that they can do whatever the fuck they want.. They dont have to be based on or adhere to anything, thats the point.
Asta and Yuno get their Grimoire at age 15, but we aren't told "they JUST turned 15". So they could be a couple of months in. We are told that the ceremony is once a year. After getting the books, they trained for what? 3 months? Before taking the magic knights exam. At the festival where the Royal Magic Knights is announced, it is said they joined half a year ago. That's 6 months, could be a little more or even a little less. Let's just say 6 months. At this point I'm sure they are 16. From that point to the heart kingdom training, it's at least 2 moths. Then you add another 6 months of training, and they've been magic knights for over a year, a year and two months or 14 months. That's just a rough estimate. 18 months is a year and a half, a year and 6 months. Those numbers aren't too far off. They should be roughly 17 years old. After the spade kingdom arc, we get another time skip that tells us Asta is 18 years old. I think this time skip is 1.5 years if I remember correctly. At that point, it would mean they were in there for 32 months roughly?
Do you think Asta absorbed some of the Time magic when Julius took his dungeon sword? The one that absorbs magic? Probably plot hole now since he used Noelles magic instantly
Well asta used a different sword. The demon slayer sword (big boy sword) doesn't absorb magic unlike the demon dweller sword. It simply nullified small amounts
My personal headcanon for why there’s a bunch of modern items when the setting is supposed to be medieval is that the setting is actually modern, not medieval. Hear me out. What if because of magic humans haven’t developed technology as far as they could’ve. They’ve become overly dependent on magic, and haven’t felt the need to develop their technology further, because they feels as if they’ve already reached the peak of technological advancement because of magic. But even though technology is still very far behind, culture and fashion have evolved into what is normal in the modern day. I don’t think I explained that well enough though. I know there’s a tumblr post somewhere that proposes this theory for Harry Potter.
I mean, it's also just the thing of setting and "easy writting". Fairy Tail is basically "medieval" but also has LOTS of technology which is explained by "magic", One Piece always dwells between being like, simple old fashioned warship but then also showcasing very advanced technology. Is just easier to mix the two, so anything that would be "too much for the technology of the era" but it's easy for nowadays stuff, you draw the line
Wasnt it stated that it took yuno and asta months to travel from their village to the capital ? Wouldn't that fix the timeline age wise cause even if they only took 1 months that is still enough time to age yuno and asta enough to jump from 16yo and 11months to 17yo
My own theory is a bit different. At this point in the series, it’s definitely been 1 year since the two joined… but 18 since they got their grimoires. Maybe that was the gaff.
No I am pretty sure that after 6 months, there was a star festival, another 6 months when Yuno got promoted to senior magic knight first class and then another 6 months of training to fight the dark triad. So 18 months is the right answer.
I’ll say the only real inconsistency that I know is Asta sensing and not sense Magic at times. Early on Asta was about to sense Yami magical pressure during the Magic Knight Exam, but later we get Asta not being able detect. There are some hiccups in the Spade Arc with Asta detecting Magic and not again But it not really the biggest deal, almost everything putted to view under Ki and his sharp senses.
I don't want to seem like a "🤓" but around 3:08 the reason why the age tht we were told wasnt adding up with the flash back was due to the actions of the fourth zercratic sibiling and the time devil which was comfirmed in the latest chapter.
In the anime cannon ep 152 shows that Asta and Yuno had officially joined the brigade for one year. So from that point + 6 months of training is 18 months (ep 153-157) Not really a plot hole as they explained the timeline in the anime
I don't understand why black clover gets hated on so much, it's not the best anime ever but apart from some sloppy looking fights here and there I never had a problem with it. Me and my fiance started it, mha, and demon slayer all around the same time and black clover held our interest better than either of the others.
I rolls my eyes so hard whenever people bring up anachronisms as some sort of fault when a series is fantasy inspired. It's *fantasy*! It's in the name lmao Also "I love Black Clover, it's my favorite series" say no more *subscribed*
One piece has plot holes, but people still love it. When sanji met luffy, he didn't know about devil fruits, but growing up, he read a devil fruit encyclopedia, and wanted to pursue the clear clear fruit. Oda does that a lot, devil fruits are the big mysteries few know about, unless everyone knows about them. Same with Hunter x Hunter and Nen.
ok now riddle me this (not sure if this is a plot hole or just a bit of an inconsistency with Asta's power) how tf did Asta go through Finral's spacial magic in the Vetto fight with demon slayer out in front of him when it's been shown with Valtos that Asta can cut through spacial magic. It's not even a matter of "well he didn't cut it obviously" because the sword fully sucks mana out of things like when Julius held it and it started sucking the mana out of his body it literally cuts through and sucks away mana so how did it go through spacial magic. I thought Asta learning how to manipulate the anti-magic after the 6 month time skip to fly his sword would've been a good counter measure for transportation as well as versatility since he can essentially have his weapon ready when covering distance but apparently he can just waltz right on in through with his sword. Like you said, Black Clover's my favourite manga too but its literally all I can notice in the Sea Bed arc now like surely that shouldn't work??
So streetlamps, motorbikes, modern underwear/swinsuits and monitors are perfectly fine, but cigarettes with filters is wrong? Seriously, that guy needed to follow his own advice and do some research.
I feel like we are thinking that julius's time powers work like dio and jotoro's time stops which freeze all of time in said universe(which is why it last so short) is it possible that his powers are fairly localized tp their target?
I've never watched this anime, or any videos about it, and have never engaged with it. I was recommended this video more than EIGHT TIMES by UA-cam. I literally can't follow this cause I don't know what any of these events or meanings are. WHY is UA-cam recommending this to me??? This so in depth and niche to just be recommended because it's a popular series.
@@Br0ku It feels like you won a lottery. It was actually showing up in my "new to me" page. Even after I refreshed. Like there was a clear bias. Also, cheers for the success. Even if like, I in particular am not here for it.
If the Lucious theories are true, maybe he steals time to power his looping magic. It cost 6 months for the Clover Kingdom to beat the Diamond and their devils/demons. But that raises the question, what the hell did he spend the Diamond Kingdom's 17 years on?
I am not sure but it seemed like everyone that didn't think it was 18 months was not in the clover kingdom for a long time. Maybe Lucius only manipulated time in the kingdom he was in
Also what would Lucius gain by making people think the wars end was sooner he'd get more time to plan I'm sure a year was enough time for Julius to return to his original state I think we should look at why it could be a possibility in all those situations what's gained if anything.
Only one plot hole it amazing consider they have many plot armor.... Just joking but man plot hole it hard to fix it just like timeline kinda mess up but also author can forget about it too
The only thing that can fix this in my opinion is that if tabata confirms as I believe that the clover kingdom is a continent and not a country. It can be a continent separated by cultures like we have certain countries sharing a landmass but not a continent due to culture. For me the clover kingdom has always been a continent with a few major countries eg the royal capital is one , the common realm is another and the forbidden realm is another, the ruling superpower is the royal capital, the witches forest and underwater temple are separated countries from the clover kingdom as well.
No offense broke, but for someone who loves black clover so much I’m surprised you’re not aware that this plot hole is fixed in the anime, in episode 154 or 155 or 156 it shows asta and noelle tag along with yami, at the magic knights entrance exam, that would mean that it really has been a year since they joined the magic knights, and with 6 months later that’s make 18 months, now you’re right about the manga having this plot hole but like I said it’s fixed in the anime
BRO YOU REPLIED!!😊😊😊, but anyway I see wym by that, but in episode 152 remember it shows asta and noelle visiting the magic knights exam a year after they joined, and then 6 months passed after that to make it 18 months, but yea you’re right my bad because I feel like with the timeline itself it would make sense at 18 months but they state over and over again that the elf arc was 6 months before spade😵💫, so yeah that is a plot hole, you’re good at this😂
i guess it would depend on when that panel was show its a little foggy for me but i thought it was correct? festival at 6months -> ~6months of content before they trained in heart -> 6 months of heart training would put the story at 18 months?
David's statement are correct. But, there are numerous statements in the spade saga that say the elf was "6 months ago" or "half year ago". That's the plot hole.
black clover is the best longterm new gen shonen and i will stand with that point. it was interressting from the start had good pacing better than most long shonens intruiging fights . i basically binged it up until the end of the elf arc there i stopped for a bit because of the filler episodes. but as the spade arc has begun same again as with the start
No offense, but I don't think that is a plot hole considering the battle with Zagred was roughly 6 months after they joined, then there was the training in the Heart Kingdom which was supposed to be a 6 month timeskip until Vanica attacked early so it was only about 4 months, and when we got the reveal of Lucius Zogratis being the host to Astaroth he could've manipulated time by about another 8 months in order to make sure Asta could defeat Lucifero so Lucius could complete whatever his plan is; also it could be a mistranslation as well because it has been about 18 months since Asta and Yuno have received their grimoires, but I'm not 100% sure either way.
might be wrong but we have a filler ep in the anime where they go to the entrance exam which happens every year yet again just before the time skip this plus six months in 18
Hello my dear Magic Knight I have a question untill now, How the elves choose a certain people to possessed or what is the criteria that they've been possessed by the elves Exp. Luck and Gauche how they become an elves ? Did the elves put something to them ? or the elves choose to possess the strong people, Noble, Royal? Hmm
Now, if we think on something: what if Lucius could manipulate a singular person’s timeline specifically for any reason? If he manipulated them all individually, or in specific groups, he could screw up just about any timeline plot holes and much more. Sure, there would be SOME difference, but not a visible one IF Lucius can manipulate time itself, but not the person’s body and vise versa. (In that case, WTF. That’s overpowered!) If this is the case, then Asta would have to find a way to beat time itself. This will be interesting to see what happens. Maybe all of black clover will end tragically in time speeding itself up to a period where this doesn’t exist?? Theories, theories! Also, how the hell is the cigarette thing a valid plot hole when THEY CAN LITERALLY MANIFEST NATURE ITSELF TO BE A WEAPON? Pretty sure, then, that the cigarette thing is practically invalid, and we also don’t exactly know that this takes place in the renaissance era (unless disclosed by the writer, idk much). For all I know, it could be several hundred thousand years in the future where humanity restarts itself!
What would be more funny than this is this theory: the makers of the manga (staff, editor, Tabata, etc) just made a slight typo in the beginning and said “ah shite I guess we gotta compensate for that- how about Astaroth and Lucius-?” Also, is it just me, or is ASTA and ASTAROTH a big and huge red flag, or just a coincidence?
Tbh there is a possibility this isn't a plot hole, obviously lucius has been manipulating the storyline and julius so this can result in time being messed with throughout the show, this is seen during spade kingdom, where asta's devil union cooldown and the gigantic clock tower doesn't match up, and we see the clock tower go forward and backwards in time during the arc and just time in general not matching up
@@Br0ku oh trust me I know it was I feel that unlike most authors The Credo Dragon Ball will have something thought out and just never tell anybody and then feel like oh wait I never said this I never told anybody this let me go explain this but I'm going to change a few details because I can which is a problem I have with that serious
I discussed this years ago. It’s just that the spatial portal is like a door, anti-magic is just flowing through the space. Not the actual magic (the door).
This is not true. Shuiesha owns Shonen Jump, and Shonen Jump is a part owner of Black Clover. Tabata can NOT write whatever he wants. He has an editor that he must bow to, and a publisher that he must change if they wish to have changes as well. While Tabata has sway in saying what is canon in his story, using him as the lone creator is fallacious. Black Clover exists on it's own from it's creator, and Tabata can only decide canon as long as it doesn't contradict the source material.
Bro It seems like everyone here can't do simple maths. I've only seen the anime so idk if you saw the magic knights Exam which yuno and Asta both went to see. obviously people get their grimoire's once a year so it only makes sense that there is a one year gap between the magic knights exams. The fact that asta and yuno got to see another one after joining the magic knights means that it was a year after. 12 months plus the 6 month timeskip is 18 months. If this didn't happen in the manga I can understand the confusion but if it did you are utterly tapped.
It isn’t simple maths when there are contradictions to the timeline. There are several statments, 2 of them highlighted in this vidoe, that says the elf war was 6 months prior to the end of the timeskip. Which is not possible unless time was manipulated.

Me:- black clover has a plot hole?

Me:- you had me worried for a sec
Bro I was worried too
The moment you mentioned that time line "errors" was the plot hole, I automatically thought of Lucius.
I like this theory
@@kage_okamiX the theory was proven by a youtuber called anime balls deep
Rewinded within anyone's knowing leading into the anime filler arc which is stated to be cannon and if it is it could be a way of foreshadowing and hints at the animation studio and the author working together but I doubt it
We’ll have to see :)
But it’s been stated 18 months since joining. They’d only be 16 if it’s been 18 months since getting grimoire
I addressed that in the video. It doesnt really make sense in this case. It’s possible though.
I addressed that in the video. It doesnt really make sense in this case. It’s possible though.
Not really.I could explain the age of the dark disciples by saying that Lucius and his time magic have a similar effect to Lucifero and his gravity. It could affect the things around by speeding up their time or slowing it down.
@@Br0ku oh ok I didn’t get to see the full video yet but I’ll check it out
Nani?
I just finished watching episode 170 for the first time today, and i must have missed an episode, if Julius is the 4th member/sibling of the shadow triad
Although there is incoming movie that might be cannon, the plot hole seems hard to fix unless they clearly say it is an error.
One answer ... "time devil"
It was hinted by a few hidden things in "demon war arc" that time devil Astaroth manipulated time in the whole series.
Means that this isnt a plot hole at all.
there was an anime only episode before the time skip when it was a year after Asta and yuno joined the Knights, during the episode Asta was with Noelle watching the new knights who were applying and then the 6 months time skip occured making it 18 months
Yeah I talk about this in the video 💪🏻
@@Br0ku aah nice 😌😌 I commented as am still watching
@@megumi652 good idea!
there's even strange timeline sequences before asta's journey starts. with vanessa being recruited to the black bulls at the very least 15 i'm assuming and being only 4 years younger than yami who's 29 atm. this means yami would've had to be captain at 19 during that moment and william vangeance captain at 16 or 17 since they both became captain at the same time. this can't be the case since rill was stated as the youngest captain in history at 19. lots of weirdness before Asta's journey starts, i just write it off as Lucius doing his thing to curate the right timeline for whatever.
She could have been 20+ years old when recruited so its not a problem
while it's more likely to be a slip of the mind by Tabata, it could be a 'cultural semantic' of sorts. i can only speak for korean from my background knowledge so grains of salt to be taken here; we rarely say "I'm 15 and a half years old," (as a crude example).

This is absolutely not a plot hole
The impregnation part is something that baffles me too, but there’s no way Tabata didn’t plan that when he created Licita, I may have too much trust on Tabata, but it just feels that he has everything planned out.
when it comes to the pregnancy, it makes sense to me that it’s okay as the baby basically shares mothers life force, everything Licita might have taken from Asta was given back the same time
Intercourse isn't required for pregnancy

Yami’s Cigarette having a filter is a plot hole-🤣
Since Lucius can steal time I'll assume he has it.😂 BC so good this could stay a problem an it would still be better than a lot of manga to date.
I think they fixed this error in the anime. I remember asta talking with noelle saying that it's been a year.
Agreed
Black Clover have few plot holes, the thing is Tabata doesn't retcon a lot (example for a retcon is Kishimoto making Nagato's Rinnegan Madara's) bc he forgot something he wrote
May i state that the dragon ball dinosaur thing is not a plot hole. They have dragon balls, scientists of wild tech, and magic. They could either A revive them, B revive them using tech, or C using magic to bring them back.
I was just using it as an example. I don’t think it’s a plot hole either but it would be something someone easily can grasp for an analogy

My problem is all the squads not getting new recruits although its been a year or more after Asta and Yuno joined their respective squads
In the anime-canon. The black Bulls offered new recruits but nobody accepted. It does seek other squads for recruits though.
Considering the last chapter's reveal, that might have been a setup

Strongest Vice captain video?
Wasnt it stated that it took yuno and asta months to travel from their village to the capital ? Wouldn't that fix the timeline age wise cause even if they only took 1 months that is still enough time to age yuno and asta enough to jump from 16yo and 11months to 17yo
No that wouldn’t fix it. Because It was stated it’s been 6 months since they got their grimoires
I love black clover but THE MOMENT someone adds time manipulating and timelines it gets super complicated and hard to follow even for the creator
Your right 😂
what was up with the Charlotte joke man😂😂😂😂
My own theory is a bit different.
At this point in the series, it’s definitely been 1 year since the two joined… but 18 since they got their grimoires. Maybe that was the gaff.
In dragon Ball they was really tell the people that humans or aliens killed dinosaur

There are some hiccups in the Spade Arc with Asta detecting Magic and not again
But it not really the biggest deal, almost everything putted to view under Ki and his sharp senses.
That can actually still be explained
I don't want to seem like a "🤓" but around 3:08 the reason why the age tht we were told wasnt adding up with the flash back was due to the actions of the fourth zercratic sibiling and the time devil which was comfirmed in the latest chapter.
….
...
In the anime cannon ep 152 shows that Asta and Yuno had officially joined the brigade for one year. So from that point + 6 months of training is 18 months (ep 153-157) Not really a plot hole as they explained the timeline in the anime

2:15 It looks like a plot hole but can be easily explained by Julius's time magic. especially after that last big reveal
12:40 didnt knew that was a thing
I am not sure but it seemed like everyone that didn't think it was 18 months was not in the clover kingdom for a long time. Maybe Lucius only manipulated time in the kingdom he was in
The missing time might have came from the black clover movie released this year on Netflix
the movie takes place days before spape arc
What about all the time between getting their grimoires and hiding to the magic knight's exam? When Asta was being trained by Franzell?
This was discussed in the video.
Just joking but man plot hole it hard to fix it just like timeline kinda mess up but also author can forget about it too
Black clover is the future of Hungry Joker. Plot hole filled
It’s not fixed in the anime because it’s also stated that the spade saga is 6 months after the elf arc.
BRO YOU REPLIED!!😊😊😊, but anyway I see wym by that, but in episode 152 remember it shows asta and noelle visiting the magic knights exam a year after they joined, and then 6 months passed after that to make it 18 months, but yea you’re right my bad because I feel like with the timeline itself it would make sense at 18 months but they state over and over again that the elf arc was 6 months before spade😵💫, so yeah that is a plot hole, you’re good at this😂
What if something happens in the movie that cuts away almost 5 months
if Julius could uses time magic i wondered how he transformed into an old lady, may be its his real magic, or filler.
I want Morris’s twitch streamer setup.
i guess it would depend on when that panel was show its a little foggy for me but i thought it was correct? festival at 6months -> ~6months of content before they trained in heart -> 6 months of heart training would put the story at 18 months?

What would be more funny than this is this theory: the makers of the manga (staff, editor, Tabata, etc) just made a slight typo in the beginning and said “ah shite I guess we gotta compensate for that- how about Astaroth and Lucius-?”
Also, is it just me, or is ASTA and ASTAROTH a big and huge red flag, or just a coincidence?
Tbh there is a possibility this isn't a plot hole, obviously lucius has been manipulating the storyline and julius so this can result in time being messed with throughout the show, this is seen during spade kingdom, where asta's devil union cooldown and the gigantic clock tower doesn't match up, and we see the clock tower go forward and backwards in time during the arc and just time in general not matching up

He fix plot hole with plot point from new chapters with time devil s power changed time line fight against lucifero
I hope people say that same shit about sanji with the filter😭
There's def more than one inconsistency in black clover..
I love black clover so don't get me wrong tho
What’s the other plot hole?
