Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Château. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.
What a great idea to make matching keychains with the room signs. Very Creative Steve and they came out beautifully.
Steve got a nice new toy!
Oh, Sara did too… just you wait!!
Longer3D definitely sent this laser to the right people, great job Steve! So creative!
Cool new toy! One small thing- the correct French spelling of “terrace” is “terrasse.” Love the matching keychains!
Hello Makers! Not sure if someone already mentioned this, but you may want to add a little flashing lights warning for the laser cutting test/calibration portion of the video. It is subtle though.
Otherwise, congrats on the new tool to aide in making! Loving your videos!
Great "Maker" episode. Steve, you did a great job explai ing.. and how professional signs are for doors...well done
Wow, your signs and keychains look incredible, Steve! 🗝
And bonus...if you ever lose a scrabble piece, you can just make a replacement! 😄
Love Jacqueline from New Zealand
A very useful tool for many creative ideas. Glad to know you received it & will put it to good use. Both of you are so talented. ❤
I’m amazed at such technology, such a creative tool for you Steve, and you’ve mastered it! . A really nice idea for the doors and keys 👏
The signs look beautiful, and the matching keychains add another level of professional detail!
Might I make a suggestion about your video quality? Please buy lapel mics! I could hardly hear Steve when he was speaking while at the laser (had to crank up my volume), and then the music comes on in full power... It would help the viewing enjoyment to have the lapel mics picking up what you're saying... Thank you! 😉
My first thought was that the signs were going to be keychains. They look great. Thanks for the demo. I wasn't familiar with Longer. My sister and I have used Glowforge at our local library to understand the capabilities. It is amazing what laser cutters can do.
Woah Steve you are going to be doing a lot with your new toy can't wait to see what you make with it. But does this mean Sarah get's a new toy too 🤔 It was nice to see you at La Lande enjoying Easter along with many more chateau friend's all having fun take care and see you both soon 💕🌼🤗
You'll have to ask Sarah how many sewing machines she has purchased in France.
Well done Steve, you did this product and company proud. Very thorough.
Oh wow technology is amazing what a fabulous new toy. No no I meant work tool. Lol. Have many happy and productive days Steve will look forward to seeing what you do. Xx
You are such an amazing artist!!! ❤
The printer is wonderful and can create so many beautiful works. Enjoy your journey with it, Blessings.
Wow! Steve can transfer his drawings To that machine. That would be so cool to create things to sell to raise money for the Chateau!
I love the new toy Steve. Bedroom signs and matching keys ❤. You can make lots of chateau Christmas gifts…how big can you make a sign….lots of ideas
Amazing technology and skills to put it all together.🤔🙃😉
Thank you for showing the Laser cutter. I've never used one and it was great. thank you!
Wow. That is a fancy machine. Great projects so far and i'm sure you can do some other really cool stuff with it in the future.
Fantastic! Love the design you created for the room signs!
Wow - that was quite a lesson, and the products came out very well. Nice work !
This was over my head but excited to see future projects from such creative minds. Sorry to say, since over my head, all I was paying attention to was the cheap IKEA? Chairs🥰 Please ditch those as soon as you can afford to.
The signs already looked great but those marching keychains were a nice finishing touch. Hello from Victoria BC
Really great explanation of the features! So excited to see what else you guys produce!
Your door signs are nice! We need new Scrabble tiles. Joking aside, I don't know if I should have a Longer, I'd be waking up at night, writing ideas in my notebook!
I have a 150w CNC and found that putting down masking take cuts down on sanding time. Also the MDF glue that’s being burned can really stink the place up. Keep those doors open as much as possible. Great job!!
I actually like the bit of charring, I think it adds an antique element to it. But I can see also it's less crisp that way.
How much fun would it be to do a nouveau engraved wardrobe!❤
FANTASTIC!!! You could use one of those small smooth paint rollers and just roll over the top with some acrylic colors and it would pop 😱
Wow, well done you. Time and lots of patience required methinks but a really grand end product.
Really like the creative room/key designs
Steve’s new “Unboxing ASMR” video and instruction reading.
The lazers pirnters have come down a lot in pice from when they first came out wow what good job of makes on the door signs
Totally geeking out right now!!!! fan-freakin'tastic!
That was really cool ❤
Yep, safety first!😊
Ooo lala Steve! You’re going to have so much fun creating!
That is a awesome tool to have!
Love that id looks beautiful good job guys keep up the hard work❤❤
Very impressed Steve 😊.
Those are great! That was fun to watch.
Such great fun !!
It didn't take much practice to use the lasier cutter . The signs for your chateau bedrooms are going to be so beautiful when installed. 👏👏👏👏for your new toy.
You’re going to have a lot of fun with this Steve 😀
“Ah! That wonderful technology smell!” Bwahahahaha!
I kinda like the burn stained look.
Will be very interesting to see what it does with tiles.
I know what everyone is getting for Christmas from you guys! This is gonna be very useful for you both.
I actually like the charring.😊
Very good detailed unboxing and information Steve.
That is just so cool!!
Congratulations! What fun and so useful!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Cool !
Too much fun.
Well thought out and executed matching system
Some crafters use a similar machine, they use rubbing alcohol to clean up the darker overspray on the signs/ emblem. Thank yo for sharing
Oh, thanks for the tip!
Steve don't be breaking the first rule of Chateau ownership.... Good to hear it has a safety. LoL Great video!
Love it
Nice machine. Great demonstration Steve!
Very nice!!
My 9 year old granddaughter wants to become a real artist, as she puts it and when I showed her some of your artwork Steven, she said "wouldn't it be exciting to visit that man in France?" Maybe one day she will make it! Hope so.
My 9 year old granddaughter said the same. She also wants to see Stephanie and her fashionable clothes. Definitely up for sewing with Sarah!
@@suebecker2893 Oh yes, can't forget Stephanie and her clothes and the sewing with Sarah too! Cute!
@@normamurray4450 Love 😍 the grandchildren!!
Very cool tool! I can see it used on a cutting board to make a little design in one corner. ❤
I need one!!!!
Very cool 😎👍🇨🇦😊💞
Very cool. It would be neat if it worked on metal/jewelry, too.
WOW 👍🏼😀
The laser was amazing Steve. What about colour? I have wanted to get something like this for my quilting and stitching, so I can do my own buttons and 3D shapes and figures. Would you paint before or after you cut them out? Would the laser burn the paint if you painted a base colour on the timber, to then do detailed painting later?
Wow.😀
Neat!
Wow! I could never, in 100 years, make this Work
Lol… we each have our strengths 🥰
That is so sweet 😊🎉
Very!
Very nice indeed. 🥰
So I was wondering if the moisture content of the wood (eg. if it had been brushed lightly with water beforehand) might make the charring less noticeable? Or would that mess up the engraving?
génial cette machine
This is just fascinating even for a nontech person, but please can you organise your music to be turned down, it blasts my hearing aids and spoils the vlog WCL
I would love to see stencils made on it for walls like Chateau la Grifferae used for the walls in the basment.
💕Wow that laser will allow you to make things that you can sell💕You could varnish the items you’ve made to help keep them clean especially the door ones💕
In French terraces is terrasses. Les deux terrasses.
🔥😊
Did you get the Longer Ray5 or the LGT Longer Ray5 10 W? I very interested in purchasing one.
It’s the Longer Ray5 10w
Is it something like a Cricket. I see it’s not.
Adding compressed air to the laser will allow a faster and deeper cut at lower Temps and will avoid the blackened charring at the same time. A homemade enclosure (or even partial) with a old vacuum will get that nasty smoke out a window. Very bad to breath for humans and especially animals.
You must get that music partitions down, they come out BLARING and barreling into our ears....
hello from nashville Tennessee, guys i have the hardest time hearing what you have to say ! can you place the microphone closer to your mouths, please?
