5 REASONS WE PAY $200+ A NIGHT TO CAMP AT DISNEY WORLD

- Camping at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort is not cheap! In fact, in the past 4 months, we have spent 12 nights at an average cost of around $250 per night. Are we nuts? Some would say yes but others may agree that these 5 things help us justify the expense to create our magical vacation at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

I guess I'm old. I grew up in South Florida and for several years 7 of my buddies would go to Fort Wilderness for a week during the summer. The site cost was $14 a night and split 7 ways it was $2 a night per person. I also remember enjoying the $6.95 all you can eat buffet in the Contemporary Resort.
That's more like it. I'm 60 and I'll never see Disney
I agree that Fort Wilderness is the most amazing campground that I’ve ever been to. We were there in 1986! I don’t think there were any other resort style campgrounds around. We were blown away by the cleanliness, especially the luxurious bath houses. At the time it was 28 or 30$. We thought that was insanely expensive 🤣
Can’t wait to try it again, would probably try a night or two in shoulder season.
We used to stay off Disney property because it was cheaper. And we splurged once and Disney bent over backwards to make sure that our stay was extremely well taken care of ! I would never stay off Disney property again unless I had to. We have stayed on Disney property by the last three or four of our trips there.
We absolutely LOVE Fort Wilderness, we go there at least two times a year if not more, and we always recommended to family or friends. I would add one more reason, "The Fellow FW campers". Everybody that camps there loves it so much that they go out of their way to interact with other campers with thing like, giving out hot dogs, popcorn etc., sometimes they put out chalk to leave a bday message at their site, pin trading and lets not forget the decorations especially during the holidays. It is pricey but you do have options depending on the loop you choose. Absolutely and experience that as a camper you should try at least once. Great video!
Thank you! And you are so right about the FW campers. Most people there are so friendly and become part of the magic.
Oh yes. Last year I stayed 18 nights with my Lance. Next March, 8 nights, to include touring the Orlands RV show and St Patrick day in the parks. Renting fron a local company a 5th wheel with 2 full bathrooms.
Just got home to night after 7 night at the Art of Animation Lion King family suite, celebrating my Disney bestie retirement from 32 federal service.
I'm still not convinced. 🤣
These are great reasons. We grew up in FL, so we've been Disney people our whole lives. In fact, we honeymooned at Disney. We just reserved our spot at Fort Wilderness for next February (our first stay at Fort Wilderness) when we'll celebrate my birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary. It was cheaper to stay in February than our actual anniversary month.
That will be a very special trip for you. Make sure you tell them you are celebrating everywhere you go there.....sometimes they will do little extra things for you
Since we've downsized to a class B and we have dogs with us fort wilderness works great we leave the van and dogs and use Disney transportation. There's no way we would leave the van and dogs in the parking lot ( that is a very far away for RVs we were told) plus like you said it's just so well kept and it's just a nice place so yes it is costly but worth it for us too 👍
Agree 100%. It’s what you get for your money and at Disney it cost a lot but you get a lot.
We still have never camped at Disney even though we have lived in florida for 40 years, and winter here. I cant imagine spending over a grand for a week there. We will have to do it one day, maybe just for a few days. I think your topic, title and thumbnail here were perfect.. in addtion to the 200 you are into 150 per person for the parks, so now we would be at $500 per day, that’s money. I am really surprised how spaced out the sites are with lots of trees. This is the first wilderness campground video I’ve watched , awesome, you sold me but just for a few nights, you know making a video makes it busier and more expensive. Haha larry
Honestly, I didn’t think I should tell a sad story, because this is such a happy channel, but I was supposed to stay at Fort W., last year, but the friends I was going to camp with, the husband suddenly passed away. I didn’t want to go alone. Disney is the kind of place you need to share with a friend! I’ve been to Disney, many times, but was really looking forward to camping there!
Try going for a short time. I’m just now trying to go places alone and it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. It’s hard at first but it does get easier. I’m planning a solo trip to Disney next year. This year the Smokies. Blessings!
We LOVE FW!!! We'll be staying there this summer for the fourth time and we are so looking forward to it. We've tried both RV and cabins and love them both. It has such a different vibe and just adds to the vacation.
Some of the new cabins should be completed by the time you arrive. They were starting to build them when we were there in April
We just got back from Disney World this week. Lovely, lovely time.
So glad you had a good time. We were just there too during Easter
I don't have an RV, only a tacoma with a roof top tent. I will be going to FW in two days and honestly I feel overwhelmed by the amount of videos of people in RVs and not a single one in tents. I am nervous, I hope I can give my son a lifetime experience camping un a tent 😢
You will be fine with your tent! We love it there and my guess is you will too
We love staying on property. And have stayed there in 2022 and 2023. In December 2022 we couldn’t get all the days we needed. We were there to be the grandparent’s support unit in 2022. We stayed at Bill Fredrick’s @ Turkey Lake, Orlando City Park. $25 a night and 4 miles from Universal Studios and 14 miles out the back entrance of Disney. We drove in at 1 pm to get our granddaughter for lunch and a nap, letting the adults to do their rides and then take her back to the parks for evening.
Just booked our next Disney campground trip yesterday ❤. Love it there
Sounds amazing!
Definitely a bucket list stay!
Super duper Sunday, and another Super Patrick video !, Good review....on the bucket list for sure.
Thank you so much!
Great video
I am there now at a cabin. We love it!
One of the advantages of a smaller trailer is you can stay in the partial hookup loops; no dump station but they will direct you to an open FHU site if you need to dump during or at the end of your stay. Paying $108 a night for 5 nights in May, will spend my last 2 nights at the local KOA and dump there.
I’ve always wanted to camp at Fort Wilderness. Maybe, someday!
I love Fort Wilderness!!
looks like a lovely place.
I go every 2 years with my fift wheel. From Montréal. I love the vibe of this camp grounds
That's quite the haul. Is that a 2-3 day drive for you?

We love Fort Wilderness !! We don’t own any Rv yet so we rent one when we stay at the fort.
Well, I understand your reasons, however, when you've raised 2 children and have 4 grandchildren, you would think twice before feeding The Rat. Disney has definitely priced out your average working family. Add up a long weekend and entrance fees for an average family of 4 to a park plus camping fees. Few thousand $$$$, not to mention food or extras. Just saying
It's definitely not for everyone as we stated.
Not so , Disney should be for everyone. Walt Disney would have wanted it that way. The most magical place on earth has turned into catering to $$$. The higher the rates go? Walt Disney would be so disappointed! 😢
Hello, I have heard the sites are tight and difficult to get into. Would you have site recommendations for a 5er and large truck?
Some of them can be difficult to get into with a larger RV. The premium sites are definitely easier typically to get into. They just are wider sizes with a larger concrete approach into the sites. The preferred sits to me are some of the hardest to get into.
People are down on Disney, but inflation has made everything everywhere way more expensive.
A campfire, transportation and restaurants to be over charged at? Fort Wilderness looks nice, but Ill never be able to go.
Reason # 1 free beer!😂
Frankly, none of your reasons convinced me. Disney is way too overpriced.
No problem at all. Everyone is allowed their opinions and we respect that.
I so agree! Walt Disney would roll over in his grave! He wanted it to be for everyone but the ignorance of some override Walts good intentions
Not a Disney fan.
Only thing I want to see in Florida is a lanch at the cape.
Heading out to Astoria OR today. Hopefully will see some deer & elk in the campground.
Thanks for sharing! Gives enough detail on why you love staying there. Well done!
DVC is ruining the Fort ... it's already starting with the cabins pretty soon dvc will ruin the rv/camping experience
Why camp in a man made , fake , wilderness and spend $250.00 per night when there is some real wilderness you can camp in for free. For starters the Ocala National Forest is one of the spots. Back country , not the established campgrounds they have. Heck even the establish are better then the mouses house ones. Personally I like to canoe the back waters and camp where no one is and it's really wild. I have been doing it all my lifetime of 80 years and have all sorts of critters walk into and by my camps. Sorry but I can't see any justification for camping there , Disney destroyed the real Florida.
I camped there 20 years ago and it was $100 a night back then it was nice but I would never do it again especially at $200 plus a night for the Woke Disney corporation I would rather stand there and burn my money then give it to them no matter how much you say it will never be worth $200 a night plus
We are only sharing our thoughts and respect yours...thats what makes America great...we can all have our own opinions. God bless.
I enjoy your channel but $250 per night ????? No way. Rustic charm or not, Disney is overpriced and a ripoff IMHO.
And you are entitled to that option and we respect it. It's not for everyone.
@@TravelswithDelaney Keep making those videos. I watch everyone of them.
No money from me for a over priced woke company. One visit 25 years ago was enough.
