I tried to sign up at two different gyms fit x and golds gym in Krefeld I was not able to sign up for a short period of time so I finally found an old school gym from 1985 and most of the work out equipment is very old. It feels like I’m in the rocky movie where Stallone works out and one of those run down gyms, in a bad neighborhood I was able to work out there. I matched up pictures of bodybuilders that I met in Venice Beach and I told his story.
You are an awesome story teller...part of your charm!
agreed
Mike does not realize the talent that he has. I can not emphasize. That enough. I love Mike and his mom so much. Mike should stay in Germany a bit longer to make sure his mom is going to be ok. Mike is the only person his mom has if I understand that correctly
Gold's Gyms in Germany should hire you to promote the brand. You could make German-language videos back in Venice and put them on your channel aimed at a German audience.
The 90s were a good time at the gym, any gym in any country. Felt like you're part of something elite.
Your a good Arnold impersonator. Especially the voice. Yes 90s were good.
GIV you need to make new memories….I like all your videos, you know lots of people your stories are so fun when your reminiscing.
This was a great video. As a woman I too was into working out for 25 years. The 2 nd gym brought back memories to me. I loved it. My trainer was a woman and body builder she competed. It was such a fun time.
I couldn’t believe the Golds Gym it was beautiful.
My love was the 2nd gym. I loved working out 4 times a week. Until I was severely injured in a car accident.
I’m in Orange County. I never miss your videos. I have family in Germany that I share your videos. They’ve all heard of you.
Come back to us safe Mike.
GIV! I love all of your videos no matter where you are at! This video really blew me away with all of your knowledge, photos and background history of the gyms and the people who used them! You keep me in stitches with your "Arnold impersonation"! You are a delightful, multi-faceted person with great vibes! I always jump on your notifications immediately! Thank you for another great video and please tell your Momma"Howdy" for me!!😁✌️👍🌹
GIV has a great deal of knowledge like you he amazes me. Even the pictures that he has that he can match up is amazing.
@@paulabarton9493 AMEN!!!
Oh man!!! My father was an amateur bodybuilder who just worked out 💪 for himself. He looked good even in his 80’s. I used to read the pile of Muscle magazines my father kept in the garage where he built his own exercise machines. All of those pictures on the wall of the Old School Gym brought back great memories of those days 👍.
you deserve one million
Awww, to bad your friend could not bring you to the gym as their guest. BTW, So glad you are their with your Mom while she was sick, so glad she is doing so much better. Your Mom is so sweet and cute. Love seeing her in your videos
For me, that is my favourite type of gym. Big modern gyms have a "factory" atmosphere. I think the smaller places, with old skool machines are the best. And you can move the benches around if you need to, without having to drag it 100m and then get told "you can't do that". And there will be nobody with a phone taking pictures ( one of my pet hates in a gym. I want to workout without thinking "oh no, I'm gonna be in someone's picture" )
It's the influencers fault if they need to do their pictures or videos in a public place. Don't feelt that you are in someones way.
Old school empty gym is a 100 times better then those mega gyms. You lived a hell of a life, what a time to be alive in California back then and train in those legendary gyms, that's a dream. Mike Mentzer was a beast he used to go toe to toe with Frank Zane and Arnold.
Glad the so called little guy gave you a membership to his gym. That was so nice of Klaus. You don't need all the fancy stuff to get a workout. Looks like you can have a good time at the Old School Gym plus work out with all your friends.
Now they can add G.I.V to the list of celebrities that have worked out there! You will totally reach a million! Thanks for sharing Germany with us, so cool to see local stuff.
Oh you're so funny! Let me do 10 pull-ups right now. Oops, I don't think I could do one 😂. You're such a great narrator and videographer. I love watching your videos 🥰
🤠 Hello GIV, that Gold's was nice & roomy. Thanks for bringing us along! ⚘️ Hope Mom is feeling better.
I can't believe the gyms forgot they are businesses! It would have been so easy for them to accommodate you. A simple 1 month flat rate guest visitor membership for travelers could have made them some $.
That's what I like... I understand the machines without being a computer freak! I can hear the clinking of the weights, the deep "grunts" on the last "PULL"!
I smell every drop of sweat, I see the sweaty sweatshirts with the sleeves cut... and I can smell them!!!👍
OLD SCHOOL, because we know how to do it right 😁
GIV I am going to date myself. I used to train at Vince Gironda's gym in the Valley. Lot's of history there. He was a believer in eggs and that they did not contain cholesterol. He was right as eggs have a neutralizer of cholesterol in them. Then I trained at Jim Morris Gym in the 1970s. He died in Venice, California. Love your videos of Germany. Makes me want to visit.
In Australia there's no contracts. You can pay weekly and leave anytime. Crazy to make you sign a yearly contract!
Shout out to Klaus! His gym is awesome! Working out surrounded by those pix with those machines/ free weights… the best! Thanks for taking us along Giv! … and I know you’ll get back in the game with your routine soon! You got this!
Love this video adventure you took, I remember some of the body builders from the pictures you had shown. Back then in the 80's was so into body building and would buy magazines showing Muscle Beach. Thanks GIV for all you do!😊
Thank you for another great video
WOW those are some Body Builders. Mike GIV Thank You for sharing.
giv i saw that germany defeated nederlands at handball the other day, amazing and great that there was a pictore of your store on the wall
MIKE, like everything else in life, if the computer say no, no one has the balls to override it, the last gym did and they got a free advertising PS I loved that old style gym, once again a very interesting video👍🥇😊
Eye of the Tiger 🐅 Mike feel the burn 🔥💪🦵
hey GOLDS GYM. give the GIV a free lifetime membership.
Best gym I have ever worked out at was a little place in Wallingford, CT, called, “Metal Health Gym”. It was above the indoor shooting range, and in the middle of an industrial park. They played classic metal tunes all the time, and lots of 80’s rock. It was hardcore AF. They had old machines, and old equipment, and it felt like going back in time when you’d walk in.
I’m not sure if it’s even still there, but man, I have so many memories of that gym. It’s where I cut my teeth bodybuilding. They had framed and signed photos of all the guys and ladies of bodybuilding everywhere, and huge murals on the walls.
I need to start working out again, but all the gyms around here are super “fru fru” (that means fancy pants).
Peace, GIV. 🐰💙🇺🇸🎸🎶🤝✌️
I really enjoyed this video Mike. I love seeing your old match up videos. Great job 👍👍
Lou Ferrigno doesn't like photos taken of him out in public. He would rather charge everyone $20 for one photo...
That's so cool. Venice Beach photos. Awesome that your photo is there.
Thank you for the stories german! You definitely know how to tell them! Especially the one about Ted danson!! I really hope you reach 1 million soon!
I used to be a cleaning supervisor for Bally's/Jack LaLane in Queens, NY, and I was nice and buff back in the late 90's. You can do it again Mike,...I'm tyring hard myself!!!
Boy, GIV! Really great show today. I too am an old gym rat from the 1980s and on. Got pretty big at one time years ago and now can still work out fairly decent. So, it stays with you for life if you stay clean and try to take somewhat care of yourself. Even if it gets away from you...... it comes back if you want it. OK. Really cool stuff, thanx!
That whoopie story was classic.. They probably laughed about that after.. Man you seriously have been living the dream.. 💪😎
Really enjoy seeing the old school pictures! 🏋️🥇get your workout on💪🏽
Hey G.I.V.! We used to ride bikes to venice in the mid 70's & i remember a few of the guys in those pics tonight what a trip! We were really young & they were scary & overly friendly to us in those days! So weird to remember what is was like but thanks for the time travel tonight! Auf weidersehn!
Love the old school Gyms real raw iron 😎
I love your videos, each one is so different from the other.Go rocky go. Go GIV go!🤩❤
Hamma Video Mike! Diese legendary Videos sind meine Lieblingsvideos von dir! 🙌🏽💪🏽
A stroll down Memory Lane is nice to see you have always been so active & social.
For the younger generation, who are the young champs of body building?
It s true in Venice you meet celebrity i meet GIV a good memory i came from france
Thank you Mike 🇫🇷🇩🇪
Great video Mike!! Stay with it don’t give up! What you are talking about was the days of yesteryear, yesterday’s memories. That lifestyle and those celebrities are gone! It’s a new breed and they are different! You were in LA in the golden years. I would be willing to donate to the high end gym membership so that you can work out with your buddies instead of alone! Just let me know! But your friends gym looks pretty kick ass! A place where Mr. T would work out when he kicked Rocky’s ass! Real old school. A place where you can focus on your workout! Take care buddy!!
God carries u 🦾
I lifted weight for over 20 years ........ but yoga is the best place to start .... yaa its true.. now I’m 54 and yoga helps me more
Push ups dips and boxing 🥊 is the best for your over haul body I’m 53 and I’m in fantastic shape
My father was a local at golds , later Worlds gym when he sold his name and moved to world gym in Venice during the body building era in the 70’s
Seymour Koenig , Schwarzenegger, Zabo, Zane and Joe Gold himself.
Golds name is all big business.
Joe’s last gym was on Washington blvd in Venice before he died .
Now it’s all over , a whole new hormone crew goes to Golds Gym in Venice . All the old timers are dying off.
I like the old school gym the best!
Another great video! What a trip down memory lane. Makes me want to get pumped up!
Tolles Video, welches die Erinnerung an die Krefelder „Bodybuilding-Hochburg“ der 80iger und 90iger geweckt hat!
Awesome video. Loved the background information.
Gold gym should support GIV with free gym use for showing their great facility! Give the GIV what he so richly deserves!
I hope GIV gets to chill and speak with Arnold one day with an interview!
Hi GiV
Awesome video ..
Really neat looking gyms.
That Old School Gym is the foundation of a real body building gym.💪🏻 😀
GO TO BERLIN! Kurfürstendamm!!!
This was awesome and I always love the match up pictures , to be honest i think I’d prefer the older type gym the equipment is proved to work just the same .
I have my own gym. My husband was dismayed when I dragged home a treadmill etc. but I have 2 and they still run. I already had free weights and a weight machine (Soloflex) and stepper and bike. I have punching bags when I can figure out how to get them back up. We never used it like a garage anyway so I took half. I have a funky old tv with movies. Now that’s a garage. ☺️
Hey GIV du bist auch eine Legende!
Vielen Dank!
❤❤
Fun and interesting video!!!
Thanks so much for taking us along!
Love the gym tour and most of all the Arnie impersonations. 😁👌
Love the video GIV ❤️ You knew, or was around a lot of famous,& cool people. I loved the pictures,& the matchups. Thanks 🙏🏾💯❤️💪🏾💜🙋🏽♀️✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
👍
I guess the photos made you miss the sunny warm Venice! That was awesome though going in Golds and seeing all those pictures! Great video !
Yes 90`s memories. I saw Arnold in Columbus,Ohio. Back than Body building was extremely popular and They were great Bodybuilders but many of them died from dipping abuse also. I think it was one of the reason I quit Bodybuilding and start distance running after 20 years I still do and one of the best thing happened to me. Thanks for the excellent stories. Giv
Mike the first bodybuilder was Danny Padilla, and the two guys with moustache is Mike and Ray Mentzer.
GO GIV ... 💪🏾💪🏾🦵👀 Thank you for sharing the gym. Work it 💪🏾
Love seeing your pics with Arnold and the other tall guy!!!!! 😎😁
Mike's in Krefeld and I'm loving it!

Nice. Good. Down. To. Earth. Video's. Thx
Old school gym is very nice (and it is in my neighborhood). 👍
Might as well call the "old school" gym the "no frills" gym.....and thats exactly where you'd find me. I don't need or want any of that overhead bs. Overall great video, love all the content and looking forward to more of your vlogs! Hello from NY!
I like your UA-cam video all , respect u from Ethiopia 🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹
Thank you for sharing I need to work out soon myself say hi to your mom hope she is doing well 😊
Love all the photos!! 😎
GIV you remember and talk about the "good old times" like the old men talking in American barbershops. Remember when I . . .
GIV you looked so good with short hair! showing all the gyms Krefeld was so interesting.
Awesome old school gym looked great
FANTASTIC! Nice content GIV, like always!
Your awesome Mike! Love the channel and love you! Small steps 💪✌️
Thanks for the memories
That's my favorite part of your channel is seeing the old photos
I wanna to come visit you in venus
my father is from Herne/Dortmund - and I lived in Duesseldorf - I live now in Miami - I love your mom - reminds me of my oma - even though I am also a young oma
This is such a time machine of a video!
Jack LaLane, Arnold, Rachael McLish- my workout heroes of the day- lifestyle lifetime changes for sure!
Frank Zane was my favorite. Perfect symmetry & not a big user of steroids & still alive & healthy looking!
Love your videos man, always real authentic 😊
Great video Mike. I remember as a young teenager getting all of the Weider magazines and I worked out at the local YMCA. Good memories.
I wish there was a gym like that where I live (Belgium), would love it ! Great Video GiV !
You are correct I think the eighties and nineties were the best for me. It doesn't seem so nice these days.
I loved hearing the stories and seeing all the pics! This inspired me to lift a few weights. You go GIV!
GIV needs to hit the cardio section.
Keep up the amazing videos.
Na, just needs a calorie restricted diet.
I used to do lots of cardio to lose fat, it doesn't work that well, if you want to lean up, it's best to do cycles of 27 days of 1500 calories, and 3-4 days of 2000-2500 calories.
@@TheUnholyPosoleyep. It’s all about eating less. First week is the worst then it’s relatively smooth
@@dreammfyre not eating less, it's eating right.
@@edmundooliver7584 it’s always less calories and you will be hungry for a while, otherwise you’re not really losing weight
yes, working out and cardio is fun.
GIV Staying in Germany ages you 1.75 normal speed you know this right? Like Interstellar. Hello GIV mom!!
Awesome video Bra" nice GYM'S and great to see all the legends on the wall...Thanks
Thanks to show us.
GIV !! hello from Chicago !!I love your videos and I am a New subscriber 😀
Ric Flair opened up a Gold's here in Charlotte N.C. (USA) back in '90. The Hulkster was their signing autographs. (When ya comin' back 'home'?😉)
Cool Video.
Awesome video Mike, always a pleasure to watch them.
GIV is it true that you have sex with your mother ?
I appreciate you, thank you for making content.
My dad used to work for Weider in woodland hills. They would send him to Gold's once in a while to do research for the fitness mag dept. and just like what German says, it's a whos who of celebs back in the 80's once you walk in. If you at least don't look fit , you'll stand out for the wrong reasons haha. He saw Ahnold' a few times and he has this loud voice that you can hear even outside. Great times at Venice Beach back then.
