I've been messaged by my guitarist son who's busking in Amsterdam. He said a nice bloke came up and gave him 50 Euros and wouldn't take no for an answer . Some came up to him and said " Do you know who that was ? ". It was Mike McCready of Pearl Jam . He is actually a fan but hadn't recognised him . Nice .
I’m 30 this week and was my first time seeing them after my dad playing all the albums on cassette regularly in the car when I was growing up, they played so many of my favourites. Couldn’t believe they started with corduroy then into elderly woman. Emotional day.
I was 22 and been a first since birth pretty much. My dad got me into them and I can’t thank him enough. They are my favourite band. Always at the top of my Spotify most listened to
Had my near-death motorcycle accident in April 1990 here in New Zealand. Was 26. Ultimately lost my entire left leg as high up as possible i.e. hip and left pelvis amputated - picture a KFC drum stick...now ya got it. Plus I suffered several other serious internal injuries as well. V fortunate to survive. 3 weeks in ICU [Intensive Care Unit] & 101 days in total in hospital. Listened to The Screaming Blue Messiahs on my Sony Walkman while in hospital. Love their albums; Good and Gone (1984, Big Beat Records) mini-album, Gun-Shy (1986) - UK No. 90, Bikini Red (1987), and Totally Religious (1989) One of my fav songs is on Totally Religious - Side One Track #3; 'Wall Of Shame'. So one day when I was waltzing around the city in 1991 I hopped in to a music store. Began looking at cassette tapes...and while I was looking I noticed this cool music coming out of the shop's sound system speakers....I wondered to myself; 'gee that sounds different haven't heard that sound before'...Now at the time I was kinda getting a little disillusioned with the music 'scene' as such because the 1980s was/were over and you sort of got a little weary of hearing that '80s sound...and nothing seemed to be catching my inquisitive music mind/ears...until that moment in the music shop around September 1991. So after listening to the music coming out of the music shop sound system speakers I thought I'd go up to the desk counter and ask the dude who was playing over the shop's sound system. Do you wanna know who the group was? The sound was unique and I liked it...The dude said to me; 'Oh that's PEARL JAM'...I asked him; 'Who?'...he repeated; 'Pearl Jam'...I said; 'I've never heard of them'...the dude added; 'They're a Seattle, from Washington in the States crew'...the dude continued; 'You know, Seattle, where Nirvana comes from'....I asked; 'Who?'...he repeated; 'Nirvana'...I said; 'Na bro I've never heard of that crew'...Now good people please remember we/I am talking about here in New Zealand yeah...so that's a heck of a long way from the U.S. of A...and it takes a little bit of time [back then anyways] for good things to reach us here in NZ...so please bare in mind. Plus in 1991 I was er...28 then. However age is no excuse not to be schooled up on the BEST NEW rock music getting created in the world. But it [new rock music] took a wee bit of time before it reached us here in NZ. So in 1991 I got SLAMMED in my 2 great EARS with two of the BIGGEST/BADASSED rock groups in the entire WORLD; 1. Pearl Jam and 2. Nirvana. That was when I first heard those 2 mighty as Rock Groups songs; 'Once' from Pearl Jam was the song I heard over the music shop's sound system on that day in September 1991 - and indeed it was the very FIRST time I had ever heard Pearl Jam. Get it? 'Once'/first? So the music shop dude then showed me the album 'TEN' from Pearl Jam [well it was on cassette]. I liked the song 'Once' and so I bought the Cassette Tape; 'TEN'. I drove my car out to the beach and played the entire cassette tape 'TEN' over my car's cassette player and quite liked it. Well...as time continued I kept playing the cassette tape more & MORE. And I began to LOVE it. My favorite song on it is; 'GARDEN', followed by; 'BLACK', followed by; 'ALIVE', followed by; 'DEEP', followed by; 'WHY GO', followed by; 'EVEN FLOW', followed by; 'ONCE', followed by; 'RELEASE', followed by; 'JEREMY', followed by; 'OCEANS', and finally; 'PORCH'. And when I first Nirvana's 'SMELL LIKE TEEN SPIRIT'...well I was addicted. In 1988 I traveled over to London on my O.E. [overseas experience]. I got to see The Screaming Blue Messiahs play on Thursday 1 September at the Mean Fiddler in Harlesden. I rode my brand new purchased Muddy Fox 'Explorer' mountain bike to it. It was a hot & sweaty gig and LOUD. I was deaf for 2 straight days afterwards. However even better was seeing Pink Floyd play at Wembley Stadium London on Saturday 6 August 1988. Easily it is the BEST gig I have ever seen. Phenomenally advanced light show. Are you serious? Were you even there!?
@@hesayshesay8839 Look, I´ve heard enough Pearl Jam concerts throughout the years (first one 26 years ago) to know that Eddie can sing WAY better. And no, I wasn´t there. As I said, I hope he got better, and will sing like he normally does on Friday.
@@samout321 yeah well I was there. And he sounded fucking amazing. I don’t care how long ago you first saw them you dinosaur. You just seem like one of these aggressive Pearl jam geeks that assume Eddie vedder is going to sound the same as he did 26+ years ago. It’s 2022, get off your high horse and get over it. I Hope Prague lives up to your clearly high expectations.
@@samout321 that's interesting because I thought he sounded as good as ever (and better than some other gigs) and I was there. How was Prague? I saw them in Prague in 2006
@@denz180 Prague has been cancelled, Eddie´s voice was gone entirely due to his performance in extreme hot weather in Paris combined with aerial ash from nearby burning forest. I´ve attended every singe PJ concert in Prague since the first one in 1996 :-).
Did you really have to pay extra to be at the front???
Yeah £20 for a ticket upgrade at Hyde park for those who didn’t pay it in advance
@@drewharper1142 you must’ve got a serious discount mate, me and my old man got there @ 2 and paid 70 each for an upgrade from general admission to the ‘ten club’ .
@@hesayshesay8839 yeah I wish it had been 20 😂
Non mi sono mai piaciuti, chissà perchè
One of those annoying crowds that would rather listen to themselves sing than the professional they're paying to see.
Shut up mate admit u don’t know the words
Imagine going to a pearl jam gig and not have the crowd interaction. Still there's always a dvd for you to watch I guess
I was in the annoying crowd for one of the best days of my life
Sad that Vedder sold out to the woke / anti-freedom brigade. Not a rebel.
