Many years ago, Smash Hits magazine published a letter I wrote about Duran Duran. People had been saying they were a throwaway band who wouldn't last. I stood up for them and said they were here to stay. 40 years later and I think the critics have definitely been proven wrong! 15 year old me would be so happy to see this😊
I think the problem was a little different... DD was saying that in some aspects they were already bigger than the Beatles and the best was still to me, and the media was going all along with that. That was the problem imho. I think even you would admit that they are not bigger today than the Beatles by any stretch of imagination. I would even argue that they not even as big as Van Halen (not a fan of) remains today

Simon's voice held up better than any of the other 80s singers I know of. Anyone hear Jon Bon Jovi this tour? Axl is done, too. I know, you'll say hard rock is harder to sing; but LeBon's voice could have just as easily bit the dust, too. Duran Duran defines an 80s band. It was an all new sound. LeBon's energy is off the hook. He's 63. Unprecedented. John Taylor=most underrated bass player, ever. Stunning musicianship. Amazing band performance in 2022 for an 80s band. I think they win.
How is he underrated and hes played on hit records and now in the rock and roll hall of fame and why do folks use the word underrated on UA-cam so darn much it's Soo stupid

I grew up in Pinner and knew Simon from end of first School and had the pleasure of working with his lovely mother as a young man and her vitality no doubt had a strong effect on Simon's character who obviously has a zest for life and still performing in great voice. Respect from here.
I saw Duran Duran in concert back in 1984. I`ve been to hundreds of concerts, and that concert is still in my top three. They sound and look fantastic. I would love to see them again.
So proud of my son who was Simon,s specialist when he had his surgery recently. Simon txted him to see if he would like two tickets to this show and afterwards some social back stage get together. Sadly he could not make the after reception due to an early start next day, . He said Simon was a great patient and got on well with him and they enjoyed the concert
They're absolute geniuses. Great musicians, composers and performers, they never grow old (even if all of them are in their sixties!) neither does their music. Hats off to these guys! They sound as good as they did 40 years ago if not better. I'll go completely crazy if I'd meet them!! They're absolutely my favourites in the world. For ever duranian from italy
40 years on and duran duran still sound fantastic. I wasnt a fan until i saw them at a festival in gibraltar in 2018 and they blew me away. such a great live band.
We were in London last week, and we were walking through Hyde Park on the mid morning of the 10 July. We heard Duran Duran doing some rehearsals and me and my girlfriend both said what a fantastic voice Simon still has.
Number 1 London to Buckingham Palace, what a glorious park and band, Duran is Awesome in Concert , Duran band members have yet to get old in my opinion, Amazing. London can be a very fun town, Niles is such a great producer
