Bellevue to Les Contamines via Miage - Chamonix Hiking & Trail Running

This is a beautiful route starting from the Bellevue cable car in Les Houches and passing by the Col de Tricot and the Chalets de Miage on the way to Les Contamines-Montjoie. This is also an alternative route for the first day of the Tour du Mont Blanc. The highlights include the rope bridge over the Torrent de Bionnassay, the views from the Col de Tricot, the excellent food at the Chalets de Miage, the pristine valley and little rivers below the Miage Glacier, the Chalets du Truc and the beautiful hamlet of Les Contamines-Montjoie.
This version of the trail uses the Bellevue Cable Car which operates from mid June to mid September. You could do this trail outside of the cable car's operating dates but then you would need to climb up from Les Houches adding 800 vertical meters to the route. The trails are not too difficult and should be snow free from early June to the end of October but check the trail conditions ahead of time. You can use the resources we list here: www.chamonix36...
I did the same route with one of my sons when he was 7 year old and with enough breaks it should be doable for that age and up. We are not passing through reserves so dogs are allowed on this route.
If you staying in the Chamonix Valley then getting back can be a bit of a challenge. There is a bus from Les Contamies to the Le Fayet train station and from there you can then take the train back to Chamonix. The timing and frequency of the connections are not great and it will take roughly 2 hours to get back to Chamonix.
