    Prepare yourself for the hateful comments (in person and online) about how you hate yourself for straightening your hair. I’ve been natural about 15 years and loced for almost 2. I’m always amazed by how complete strangers feel so comfortable telling black women how we should wear our hair.

    I had my locs for over 20 years and did the same thing (cut/combed) in July. My sister's helped me. I'm 52 now. It was my intention to cut them when I turned 50 but I wasn't ready. When I was ready and took the steps. I have no regrets.

    Your hair looks amazing, and I think that you made the best decision for yourself. I started my loc journey recently but deep down I knew that I missed my loose natural hair. I was disappointed because I did not start the loc journey for a long time, and when I asked my sister what she thought, she said, "It's just hair do what you want." That was enough for me. Since I was still early in the process I didn't lose that much hair, but it felt great that I was back to myself. So to you and to anyone else who reads this, DO what you want to do with YOUR HAIR

  • @gbran919
    @gbran919 5 років тому +1

    Your rationale for taking your locs out makes so much sense. I didn't grow up with locs. I was always a loose natural and from 14 - 32, 12 years, I cared for my hair myself and really learned how to care for it loose. If I hadn't had that experience before loc'ing my hair I probably wouldn't keep locs for very long myself. I hope you have fun as you continue to explore all that your hair can do.

    Do what's best for you... I'm glad I got to see this because I just did starter locs on my 6yr old she wanted them after I started watching videos looking to make the journey myself. She's extremely tender headed and never wants her hair done. You were a great inspiration and I'm gonna show her this so she has all the information needed for her decision. By her being so young I'm worries she'll regret her decision and want to remove them but I want to fully support her decision on wearing and loving her natural hair despite her age. Thanks for this

    I appreciate your transparency! Like I said, you were locspiration for me but I get it. I went 12 years with my hair relaxed or permed and did the straight look a long time. Prior to 12, natural long hair. So I came to locs after that time just how you came to your loose natural hair. I respect it. And you are easy to listen to so I’m still looking forward to your videos.

I won’t though until I’m 100% sure. As you said, when it’s time, you’ll know!.. My loctrican gave me similar advice if I decide to comb them out. You seem like a really amazing lady with a great future!! Your beautiful inside and out, with or without locs!!! You exude greatness!!! ❤️Blessings!!🤗

    the part where you said when you know you want to do something, you have got to do it. this got me. I am now staring my locs and I am searching for excuses. but the actual reason is that I just know that I want them and I will need to get them at some point. Although your video is talking about something completely opposite to mine. but it made me understand that when it is truly time for something, nothing can hold you back from slipping into it.
    Anyways, your hair is amazing regardless. lots of love

    Completely understand why you cut them! I had been doing my own hair since 6 years old...I went to the salon but I did up keep of my hair and my moms...I love doing hair now because of that but I began my loc journey last year because I discovered that my natural hair is fragile, I’m getting older, I’ve always wanted them, it’s ease of use to swim and workout daily as I do, and I like doing other people’s hair all the time NOT my own...I also have no regrets...you’re gorgeous! XOXO 😘

    Girlllllllllllll the gorgeousness in this video! 😍🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ You are Stunning! But I relate to this video because I had sisterlocs for 7 years and finally cut them 2016. It was honestly time. Some people don’t understand people with locs get tired too!

    You are lovely. I have locs and I know at some point I will cut them off . I love them, but we can do whatever we want with our hair when we want to . It's okay to want to change

    Just make sure you don’t destroy your loose natural hair with pressing, relaxers, weaves, etc.

    Did you experience more breakage when you combed your hair dry vs wet?
