For those of you who don’t know, Don was the guy who called out the “Marine” who attacked the Covington school kids in Washington DC. Once Don found out who he was, he made a video about it and UA-cam responded by completely shutting down his entire channel. He’s rebuilt it back from the ground up. If you share anything at all on UA-cam, this would be the one to share. Help him rebuild it back to what it once was. Even after all that, Don prevailed and kept making these videos or posted them on his website.

@@theboxingnetwork3639 there are not a ton of father son seals but they are out there. Don once told a story about his son dj graduating buds and there were three legacy graduates. Meaning three others who had fathers or maybe some other immediate family that were also seals. Pretty neat achievement for a family. I always admired the luttrells cause Marcus and his brother both made it which is probably also rare.
My kindergarten class was 1975. Upon graduation, I was a mini SEAL.

I was in Turkey in 98. The Commandos were hard as nails. I stood night watch with a Turkish soldier on this airfield and we were comparing rifles. He didn’t speak English and I didn’t speak Turkish so it was a little bit awkward. We just smiled and nodded. He loved my NVGs.
They didn’t have muzzle awareness that is for sure. They carried their weapon like a guitar, and as he smoked his cigarette he would smile, and turn, and point it straight at my chest. He saw me move out of the way a few times and then he finally figured out what he was doing and then he pointed his muzzle towards the ground and it was all good.
So later that night I was in my bag and I hear a single loud shot. At first I’m thinking oh shit! But it was one shot from within our position, and it’s not like we were in combat. I didn’t hear anything for a few minutes so I just went back to bed. Probably a negligent discharge, or maybe one of the Turks got hungry and saw a squirrel.
So the next morning I saw a kid in the chow line and his face was black and blue. My buddy who stood a later watch in the night said they beat the hell out of him. About a week later we went to their camp up in the mountains near Syria and we thought it was awesome. They had this awesome obstacle course. None of us had been able to do any PT there, so we staged our rifles, stripped our blouses and decided that we would go run their course.
As soon as we put our rifles down, these dudes start going into combat mode and they start setting up a perimeter. We were all kind of confused and we just stopped what we were doing. The Commander walked up and said that there were Syrian snipers in the hills who would love to take out a Marine. We grabbed our shit, apologized and we all went inside and ate some good food. I mean, I shit my brains out afterwards but the food was tasty. And I still think they were bullshitting me about the snipers but I sure as hell didn’t want to find out the hard way.

I am assuming he is referring to the "one shot" as the sniper firing at the compound but that doesnt explain the connection to the beat up rookie. And also how far were these two locations from each other? You heard the shot where you bunked at then a week later you went up to the mountains and the commander informed you that THIS is where potential snipers shoot at you. So there are snipers shooting at both your spots?

Stationed in Turkey, Army, 1985-86 sixty miles outside of Istanbul, the hotel you mentioned was used by us back then as a drop/ off-pick up point , met a lot of U.S. military members who would be staying there. We worked along side of the regular Turkish soldiers, conscripts as you call them, mostly illiterate peasant type guys, funny, friendly guys wearing old uniforms and carrying what looked like ww2 rifles, we were a very modern force to them and we were big men compared to their usual small stature... Thanks for reminding me of days gone by.....
At least they served. Look at what we're building many of our young people today to be. I'm not even sure what...

Was never a seal, but recently (2020) retired from the Army after 20 years and I cannot believe the amount of people pretending to have been in the military period, let alone saying they were seals. I had no idea it was this bad. Doing great work Mr. Shipley keep it up!!!!
Hey Don, the Turkish Navy had one of Our (US) Diesel/Electric Boats and were participating in War Games, snuck up on one of Our Nuke Fast Attack Boats, and said "Oscar Oscar.." then pulled beside us on the USS Orion, La Madd. They were great and extremely Proud.
My Dad was on the USS Orion AS-18 at Charleston, 1972-74. He was a L.jg. Supply Corps.

TCG Uluçalireis (S 338) a Balao class submarine (ex USS Thornback SS-418) is also preserved as a museum ship.

Phone calls are entertaining as hell. You let them just sink themselves. They piss us all off, I’m sure it’s even worse for you. Love your stories and the way you tell us. I had a friend I worked with who served in Vietnam and I would listen to him for hours. I wouldn’t bring it up because he sometimes would not talk much and you just knew he didn’t want to talk about them. I always waited for him to start one before I would engage and ask him questions. Thanks brother. Balls to the wall.
He actually worked for the Village People as head of security according to his book, "Keeping The Backdoor Closed, Special Agent on Tour". He was on vacation in Key West (the key to happiness) when he hear screams coming from the hotel pool. One of the backup dancers fell into a 4' deep pool getting water in their eyes, so he jumped in saving both the dancer and the "Naval Uniform" they wore. The dancer was too upset to continue the video shoot for "In The Navy" so they hired this guy. He loved it, the uniform never wrinkled he could eat, work and sleep in it, plus he could add metals & it smelled pretty. The band was so impressed, that they hired him for tour security. He wore the outfit adding stories of his "armed services" and demanded to be called by a code name, "Danger Zone".
He included stories in his book of how they lost some good men-to hotel swimming pools, hair dryers shorting out, being held as a prisoner after the band's accountant forgot the band's credit card & he spent 18 days inside a restaurant in Spain and losing one man to eating uncooked seafood. "We lost a lot of men to tummy aches, headaches, and sunburn...I had to leave them in lobbies of hotels, often running out the door, something a tour security agent never does but the wounded would say, 'Go on Danger Zone, get the boys back to the airport, I'll waddle back to my hotel room"...you never leave another man behind, but it was too hot, plus they had cherry slushies on the bus and I loved them" he added.

Really enjoyed the story as always Senior Chief. I got to spend two days in Istanbul back in 1994 and see all the sights. Spent a lot of money in The Grand Bazaar.
I told Diane if I could take her anywhere it would be Turkey or Thailand as I know what she likes. That Grand Bazaar, with all the leather things they make, I'd never be able to get her out of there.

I don't care what your job is in the military, there's always the potential of going to war & being assigned to the front line. Everyone who served should be proud of the job they performed no matter how seemingly trivial. It all adds up to keep the Big Green Machine running smoothly as possible.
Just finished the 4 hour interview with DJ Shipley and man that guy is extraordinary. A very honest and inspiring interview. 19 years old when he did his first deployment as a Navy Seal. Wow!
I stumbled on these videos around 2013 or 14 and didn't understand what they were all about until I digested a few of them. I would always check my notifications because I found the videos to be entertaining. And as his YT channel garnered skyrocketing views the fakes started to complain in groves to YT because their secret was now public and they, I guess, wanted to continue the charade. YT started to take down Don's videos so he decided to go private and charge a small fee for membership. It kinda defeats the whole purpose of outing someone if only members can see it. Anyway, I joined for a year and I was glad I did because Don and his wife knocked it up a notch. They started to travel to do in-person busts. (You have to admire Diane for putting her fear of flying in the backseat for the benefit of her members) However, that stopped because of Don's health. Then he moved and started a charity and added more content to his channel. Some of it was cooking, ducks- geese- ducks- geese- ducks you get the point, and the phony navy seal of the week videos took a back seat. So I decided to not renew because I could care less about all the other stuff. I only joined because of the bust videos. I would periodically join for a month and get caught up and leave. This last time I did there hadn't been a bust video posted in over 3 months and the ones he does are not even close to the quality and entertainment factor as his earlier ones were. It's not cheap to run and maintain a private server and I get why he's reaching out for additional membership but my guess is that many of those who left - left because of the sparsity of phony navy seal of the week videos. I would like to offer, as one's opinion that you do one phony navy seal of the week video each week and I'll come back and buy the lifetime membership as I am sure others will do. ta ta Luca
