One of the biggest reasons why RM is the leader is that he is a man who knows how to maintain order in front of people, even though he is clumsy at times and destroys some things, he is an extremely intelligent guy, not just because he speaks English and Japanese, but also for having a different way of thinking about communication studies and sociology. He is also very eloquent, knows when to speak and how to speak, doesn't stutter, and rarely gets nervous. The other members said that it would be extremely difficult for them if they didn't have RM, they said that they wouldn't be able to give speeches as well when it comes to thanking their fans, or giving a speech that marks someone, the other members know how to give speeches, but they aren't as eloquent as he is, they would not have the patience to maintain order, among these things... even though Suga and J-Hope have leadership qualities because they are very responsible, they have already said that they would not have the patience necessary to be a leader, because a leader has even more things to worry about, not only with dancing or singing, but also maintaining order in the group, avoiding conflicts between members, and knowing how to say what is always best without affecting reputation.
Ya RM isn’t the leader because of English. Yes, America is like the dreams of artists around the world, its an added accomplishment for most, not all. The problem with America is we are in a bubble, we honestly pretty ignorant to the rest of the world. There are so much more talent out in the world, raw talent, coming up without the American industry backing and hook up, all the autotune, all the fluff of the celebrity status that gets them noticed, etc.
BTS had a company who’s practically bankrupt and THEY got the company to where it is now. Not the other way around. BTS got popular by their own “blood sweat and tears”.
Plus English isn’t actually the most spoken language in the world. More countries speak Spanish globally than English, more people speak Spanish and Chinese than English. The richest elites in the world are not American/English. When you step outside, many people speak more than one language, only in America they stubborn to learn and expect everyone else to learn.
Our boy bands can’t compare. Now looking back at what we had growing up and watching BTS and other kpop acts, 🤯 I watch old boy bands and think that is barely dancing 😂 And we always had auto tune and lip sync performances. And the performers had back up dancers do all the work while BTS goes all out song and dance. Plus their MVs, today’s MVs and lyrics and choreography don’t Wow, not since Michael and Janet who gave us epic productions. KPop bring that energy to their MVs. Even when BTS rap line , their lyrics say something, it’s not all clubbing, strippers, flexing rich, blah blah blah and same old MVs. BTS made a lot of new rap fans because of that. People who didn’t listen to rap before now appreciate it.
People actually did care about Halsey and cheered her on. Since you're not familiar with the fan chant, Army actually added her to it. You can tell mostly during the chorus like around this section for example 25:02

Y’all need to get it out y’all head that their fans are korean especially their American fans. I went to their concert in Vegas and hardly saw Asian ppl at all. I mainly saw latinas, white,and black ppl. I was honestly surprised how many ppl flew from Latin countries for the concert

Army loves Halsey. She always supports them and they are friends now. Suga has featured on Halsey songs 2 or 3 times. Please don’t call her names ❤ She just tries different styles.
To be fair, BTS have more fans outside of Korea than in Korea. And that was even more apparent while they did their last consert last year in Busan, which was completely free and all of the business of Busan had a week long tape of festival completely centered on BTS and people from all around the world went to Korea even when they didn't have a pass for the consert. So the city of Busan, and also cities around Busan, had special places where they had live broadcast of it, so in short Korea had thousands of visitors in that week just of people wanting to be in the same Country as the official last consert of BTS, before Military service and solo projects were released and they come back in 2025. People over at Korea were finally understanding the real reach and influence BTS have internationally. They were shocked. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🇲🇽🤟

Lol, jody was correct all along, when it comes to live performance just know that v is the one with the green mic and Jungkook is purple for the now, i think with time you can tell them apart easily than your imagination... And take note that v voice is different from the rest vocal line, he has a baritone voice aka a deep voice and Jungkook has a smooth and strong voice thats another hint💜
V has a baritone voice but can go as high as the other three as well so that may not be the best identifier.

15:00 All the artists were at a loss then. And it's really funny because if BTS is present at the ceremony, then it's considered their own ceremony. Everyone was always in shock at how much we loved and treated them. My friend was there, and it so happened that there was a huge difference between the screams of the artists. No one else screamed as loudly as for BTS.
RM wasn't leader because of his English fluency. RM was the leader long before his English fluency became important. The leader is responsible for representing the group/member issues to the company AND must convey the company's orders to the group. They keep order within the group dynamics, and represent the group to media... among other leadership tasks that often go unnoticed but keep the group running smoothly. It was RM's inborn leadership qualities/skills that made him leader. When BTS started interacting more with Western music industry/media, RM was the only member fluent in English, though all had taken English in school (with similarly various levels of ability with which our US high schoolers graduate high school foreign language instruction). The members have all expressed their regret at how much extreme pressure that put RM under, and so as they continued to see a rise in success/popularity in the West & globally, each of the members have been working on their English skills to alleviate some of that pressure from RM. In the beginning, they focused on memorizing key phrases to answer questions they knew would be asked, or to send certain specific messages. Their overall real language skills saw massive improvement during COVID, so you'll see each of them speaking English much more since 2020.

By the way, ARMY's incorporated Halsey into the fan-chant, I heard it, and it was awesome. ARMY's love Halsey and the relationship/friendship they have with her. Suga has also done two more collaborations with her after this one. They've been friends since 2017, and that is how this collaboration came about.
This was their first award show to attend, and the first award to be nominated for in America. Top Social Artist. Justin Beiber had won it for a few years before and BTS won it in 2017, and for 5 years in a row. Then the BBMA's did away with the award. Their first appearance at an American Award show was at the BBMA's on 5/21/2017, but they didn't perform there. Their very first performance at an award show in the USA was at the AMA's 11/19/2017, where they debuted their song DNA. But they have been to the USA many times before this date. They toured in USA also in 2017 to sold out Arena's, and by 2018 they were selling out stadiums in the USA.
RM is the leader because he has great leadership skills, and he is an amazing artist. He is the only one fluent in English, but many of the others can speak English, but only a small amount. They are still taking English lessons and some of them can speak conversational English, but not fluently yet. Jimin can, J-Hope can, Jungkook is doing pretty good. SUGA is taking lessons.
BTS has a very diverse fanbase. There were a lot of ARMY's there, but it was a mix, not all Korean fans. And ARMY's are some of the best, most organized, talented, and smart individuals. Also philanthropic, so please don't say they are crazy.

V is the one with the flower shirt. It can help if you recognise his deeper voice. Also in performance he often has a green mic and in-ears. Jungkook usually has purple in-ears and mic. In more recent performances/content, jungkook has piercings and tats.

I understand that everyone has preferences of the type of music they consume and if you like more wholesome less sexual stuff that's totally fine but you don't have to shit on halsey and her music which is very much her own artistic expression.

Her relationship with BTS wasn't just abt "giving them exposure in the west", she was one of the only western artists at the time to treat them like fellow artists, she was never weird abt them being korean or put them into one box bc they came from kpop, she went out of her way to make them feel welcomed and appreciated. She gave them all matching bracelets which most of them were wearing during this performance. The boys love her and have treated her with so much love throughout the years. Suga was featured (in korean) in her album in a song called "Suga's interlude" bc she wanted to work with him. After having problems with pregnancy she gave birth to a baby boy and she posted a picture of suga holding her baby. During Suga's recent tour she went on as a guest to sing their song together. Their relationship is special and real and none of the boys would agree with your "she's a whore" comment. Very disapointed.
I know you guys are at least open to being criticized, those type of comments feel quite misogynistic ngl. BTS has also worked with Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion in case you didn't know (don't remember if you've reacted to those yet).

J Hope can speak English . . not yet to the extent RM does. He has spoken English several times during concerts and even on shows in the USA. I think most if not all of them can speak English to a certain extent. BTW you guys have V and Jungkook mixed up. Jungkook has a white shirt and V has a printed shirt. The one that looked back (with Halsey) at the end of the song was Jungkook.
