Excellent hack Simon. That rattle used to bother me but I assumed the play was deliberate to ensure a tight fit once the bonnet was closed. Worth another look when I have a spare moment.
Hmm…no rattles on my L494 but I have never looked at these clasps….but I have cleaned them when detailing the engine bay so I’m sure mine are solid. I will check tomorrow! 🤔🤔🙂🙂🙂 Richard.
Good morning Richard - bit of a scare yesterday had to rush up to Peterborough as the mother inlaw got taken into hospital but all OK. We took the Tesla and I must admit i love that car more and more every time i drive it. Let me know if you catches are solid.
@ Hello Simon. I’m sorry to read that your mother in law was unwell and pleased that she is alright but maybe needs some time and care over Christmas. We do have a bit of a problem with this time of year as almost everything that “goes wrong” healthwise is always at Christmas for us. We think that if we get past it in one piece then it is a result! I hope she feels better very soon. Yes…I have to admit that whilst I hate the Company and the weird Elon Musk, the best EV to own is a Tesla….they got the charging problem sorted right from the start. I wish they had better interiors and design/colours. I also really like it when I drive my car in full EV mode and I’m note losing any “character” by not hearing an Ingenium engine! I can barely hear it when it does anyway! I’ll double check my bonnet clasps asap but it is pouring with rain just now…give me an hour or so and I’ll report back! 🙂🙂🙂🙂Richard
Simon…I have had a good look and my bonnet hook/latches are very firm and do not move at all. They seem to be a spot welded bracket that is then fitted behind a panel impression and there is a single nut with a plastic cover over it which might be an adjustment but it doesn’t appear to move and I now think is only a plastic buffer that adjusts to align the bonnet. I cannot post pictures on UA-cam but will send some by email to your work address. It’s stopped raining just now but the warm, wet wind is picking up…and I’m supposed to be at Highgrove later…last time it was a mudfest so we might give it a miss! 😃😃😃😱Richard.
Now what happens when you go to shut the bonnet?? 😉 I had a BMW 3 series that did the same thing. I only noticed the catches were 'loose' when cleaning the underside of the bonnet and couldn't find any way of adjusting them. Never tried slamming any doors to see if they rattled though, so no OCD moments for me! 😀
Bonnet closes just the same... it just seems a bit of a design oversight. I have ordered the new revised design - it will be interesting to see what that is like.... did they just quietly fix the problem ?
@@L663 Just checked the catches on my 2021 Disco Sport and they are loose too, but thankfully not to the extent that they rattle with a door slam. Look forward to hearing about the new parts, Simon.
Pick your brains Range Rover evouqe got a mid car wobble changed Both bearings front wheelbearings both wishbones and even changed a full, hub axle , also changed propshaft bearings x2 from front to back and iv still got the wobble. It feels like it's under centre console starts as you excellerate. Any thoughts what it could be ?
I see that the next president of the United States of America dropped in for a look!!!! That should do it well for your ratings!!!! Regards Ian 👨🎤🇳🇿🍸🍸

I cannot see any reason for the play...I think I need to buy one of the new design ones...
@@L663Have you looked at the mating part? Is it designed to pull the catch at an angle and maintain it out of square?
Lovely job Simon 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks Jimmy
Cable ties on a 60k+++ to stop a rattle? Good to see JLR haven't forgotten their roots entirely 😂 but good hack/bodge Simon 💪
It’s what they call an Easter egg ….for the old school defender owners who like to tinker !
Not sure it's a JLR designed part. It's more likely a generic supplier design. It has the same arrangement an Grenadiers.
Must be Xmas Jumper time soon😊
Oh we have a very special jumper coming this year....
@@L663 That jumper is epic😍

A dartboard 🤣

Its on both of mine - let me know...

I am feeling the love - thanks !
Does this rattle translates into interior noise as well?
I dont think so but it cannot be helpful ?

Good morning Mr Virdi - hope you are keeping warm and well. It would seem like a good time of year to visit India !

Loose or failing engine mounts???🤔🤔
@ been checked ther ok even put a GoPro underneath try see why wher coming from it's on exceleration and over 50mph
My guess would be loose under guard - they can really make some noise ?
Small o ring would do just as well
I did try this - but it was tricky to find the correct size to fit over the washer but still be a tight fit.
Apparently they have permanent switchable terrain modes in the USA , why don’t we 😢
That is interesting - there must be a setting for this in the CCF ?
Cable ties. Keeping Land Rovers going for decades 😂
What came first the Land Rover or the cable tie ?
maybe just an O ring would do the job?
I did try this but could not find one that would fit over the large washer and fit tight.
@@L663 You can get boxes of 'O' rings with dozens of different sizes - even sex shops sell them........
i did not have Trump on my Simon Bingo Card today.

Stretch an 'o' ring over it.
I did try this but it was hard to find one that would stretch over the washer but still be tight on the shaft..... great minds think alike !
