      From another perspective, I feel like it's _because_ she cares, she will talk about these things and share her opinion on it. Like if she didn't care about appreciating food and being thankful for it at all then she'd have no reason to rant about that couple from the story. It also takes some courage to talk about this stuff in front of a large audience, so it's even more admirable from her that she would talk about these topics despite the potential backlash.

      Nonsense, the customer is always right motto is important because it expresses dedication and commitment while rightfully acknowledging the consumer and their satisfaction as essential for success. Rich snobs who love to look down on their servers while they indulge in their fine foods and perfect haircuts could probably use a heavy dose of humility, but it's still your goal as the server to do your utmost because ultimately you still want their money.
      If anything, we could use more "the customer is always right" motto back in our businesses because _they're_ the ones who have become the rich snobs who look down on their consumers and _tell_ them what they should like rather than considering their complaints and working to better their business practices; looking at you Entertainment industry.

      @@Poneglyph bruh, restaurants, bakeries, fast food shops and shops that sell food in general throw food away every day, for various reasons. Is it wasteful and sad because there are a lot of starving people? Yes, of course. Will making portions smaller in a super expensive restaurant fix that? Hell no. When you go to a place to eat you want to get your money's worth, it's stupid to complain about too much food. And if you feel bad about wasting it then just eat it all.
      Fixing this food problem on a meaningful scale requires way more than just ''omg cut the portions in two!!'' so stop your virtue signaling

    • @Poneglyph
      @Poneglyph 2 роки тому

      @@breadqueen5351 did you just throw an "everybody else does it bro" at me? Just cause you won't solve world hunger changing one meal, that's no reason to waste food. That isn't even the point. "Everybody else" isn't even true because a ton of restaurants and the majority of people do, in fact, care (though certainly not you).
      "Your moneys worth" of food in 1000 CAD is six months worth of meals. Sounds like a dinner for two to you? That is an elite restaurant where only people of extreme wealth can dine. The price is 99% ingredients, specialist workers and prestige -- not quantity. That's where your "1000 CAD worth" of food will come from in a dinner for two there. If the restaurant is bamboozling you into buying "dinner for two" but it's actually dinner for four, that's a problem with the restaurant.
      If you find the portions excessive and wasteful, you have all the right in the world to have the restaurant know about your preference. There's nothing in here that justifies this fit of rage.
      Now about the "virtue signalling", that's exactly why I commented on this before. It was *Enna and this comment section* the ones who slandered this random woman *on the basis that she was a clueless privileged wealthy idiot disrespectful towards food* , when this woman's actions were, in reality, precisely what you would expect from someone thoughtful and self aware of their own wealth, if that was a factor in their decision making in the first place. Let me be very clear: Enna was the one who championed these values, and got offended on their behalf, against this random woman when the woman's actions were more representative of these same values than Enna's arguments.

    An exception complain about food being too much is when food are given by other people and they expected to eat all of it for them.
    If someone ordered the food without asking you, then, you don't have to take responsibility for their over ordering.
    If they used guilt to not eat all of them on you, you can just pay small for your part, said you paid for what you eat and go away.
    You aren't their plastic bag for their buy need.

    No such thing as "too much food" if you paid for it. If it's "too much" then you got your damn money's worth and you better pack it up and eat it later. There are so many people in this world who'd love to have this kind of "problem".

    Unfortunately, i hear this complaint a lot where i work. Granted, it's a hospital kitchen, but it still blows my mind how often we get that one . sometimes the patients give a reason, that they might not finish and feel guilty about throwing the rest away. I wonder if this restaurant had to-go bags ?🤔

    I can understand if the restaurant regularly has leftovers for that 'dinner-for-two' option, in which case the complaint ought to be heeded for the sake of the business. However, if it is an issue just with that family, then it's just an amusing story.
    Also, some people really do not value eating past fullness.
