  • It's taken quite a few months for me to finish up these rugs because we've been very very busy! But they are done and I'm so happy. Just have to knot and tidy them up and soon, they will be available in our Etsy shop... Windhaven Farm. Love weaving on my Union 36 old sweet loom... I need to do more for sure!

Is there a reason you waste so much warp between rugs? How long do of fringe you putting on those rugs? Warp's expensive. We use four Venetian blind slats between each rug and cut so two slats go with each rug. That's plenty to make a nice fringe by tying a nice slip knot and you don't waste warp.

Well, I guess everyone likes to do it the way they do. I tried less and found it really hard to knot in the way that I like to. When I get done, I usually only end up trimming maybe an inch off each length of fringe. Do you fold over your hems or leave fringe hanging? I've cut them real short and my customers like the much longer fringe. When I'm done, my fringe is usually 3 to 4 inches long, so I always leave ten inches between each rug. :-)

Please do a video on how you tie your fringe. I'd like to see it.

Okay, it might be a while since I don't have anything on the loom right now. The room that my looms are in is super duper cold in the winter and so I don't do a lot of bigger weaving when it's too cold. But I sure am itching to get back to it and the weather is finally starting to warm up! I'm cutting strips and getting ready... been inkle weaving and knitting a bit while I wait. What kind of weaving do you do? Do you have a Union, too?

nice. may i know the measurements of your rags? over here we do different size but not that kind of big and wide. we leave 4inches space each rags to tussel at the end of weaving time. all are made of second hand fleece jacket, sweatshirt, undersize flannel blanket from factory, accrylic and mohair. its been 4months since i start weaving. it is so hard but it is worth.

It varies, I do like to make pretty long rugs. Usually I work about 28 to 32 inches wide and then just sort of let the weft materials tell me what to make it. I like rectangle more than say a squarish rug, so I always try to make sure they are 1 and half times longer than the width. So usually around 45 to 50 inches long. :-) I just leave a lot between the two rugs because it makes it very easy for me to tie them off. And to get a nice trim when they are done. So glad you enjoy weaving! Mohair does make a lovely rug as well as fleeces!!! :-) Thanks for writing!
