Thank you. Have the same loom from my grandma. I never knew how to reset so it's setting full of her rugs Louisville? I'm southern Indiana. Love to learn from you
I love your method of securing the strips together. Very helpful. Your rugs are lovely. Thanks for sharing. I weave on a floor loom, but not a dedicated Union Jack. My grandmother used to have one of these.
Just wanted to say thank you for all your videos. I am obtaining my loom in a few days and all of your videos have help educate me on the complete process. Again thank you!
Thank you for making all these videos! I’m getting a rug loom for free from a friend who never learned how to use it and these videos were very helpful!
Am really enjoying this series, and I'm certainly looking forward to the video on weaving the 2 runners side by side! I bought a 1930's Orco 4 harness loom off eBay a few years ago (which is almost identical to the Union 36) - and it was a "figure it out yourself" situation. There are many similarities to your loom, especially the warping set-up with the pegs on the bottom rail at the back of the loom. As you mentioned, there is almost no information on UA-cam about warping this kind of sectional, so I have obtained a lot of useful info from your videos! Please keep them coming! thank you so much for your video. i first was introduced to weaving when i was 18 and really want to get back into weaving again. where would i get a loom like this? i appreciate all of your information. thank you!
Someone gave me a union 36 loom but it doesn't have a carpet roll, it has a wood rod with cord attached to hook onto the metal pipe. I am thinking about making a carpet roll but I'm not sure how to attach it. Any suggestions?
I been enjoying your videos so happy to have found them! I’ve learned a few things as I have been trying to get this Orco going. I have bought books, not a lot of help. No manual it’s trial and error just getting it assembled doesn’t work as well as yours. But I have finally made some rugs. Tried your yarn chain rugs, mine come out a lot wider than a cloth rug. Is this normal? Can’t wait to try a hit or miss. I did the two at once with the yarn chain. I was told to run 24 spools which make rugs over 30” wide. When I did the yarn chain it doesn’t want to lay as flat on the ends as I would like. Am I doing something wrong, like beating too tight? Keep up the great videos waiting on more!
It is hard to know for sure what might be happening when you turn and make your edges without seeing you weave. I also have never used your type of loom. It could be that you are not leaving enough slack in your weft as you beat it down. This will cause your edges to pull and roll. Maybe the type of yarn you are using is making a difference. I only use twenty cones even though my loom will hold 24 because I find it much easier to work with. Just guessing but I hope that helps. It has been awhile since my last video but I hope to get the new one up soon. If there is anything I can show you in a video that might help let me know. Thanks so much for watching and let me know how it goes.
Cutting The Rug Weaving Studio -I think with your input I figured out my yarn rug issue. For some reason they are like 2” or more wider than the fabric rugs. The corners just do not lay flat as I would like because of this difference when tying the fringe. Hopefully using less warp threads will help. When I made the two runners like you did, I used the yarn and they lay fine. The chenille yarn from Walmart made a 2” larger rug also but it lays flat? A ‘Beautiful’ super soft rug but a bit pricey to make. Still looking forward to more videos👍

How many epi in the warp please
What brand of rug warp do you use for your rugs? Where can it be bought?
I get my warp from a website called Great Northern Weaving. I have been ordering from them for years and have had no problems.
Are you still around??
