This is beautiful!!! I’m not quite ready to paint my shower but I’m definitely planning on painting my kitchen (laminate) countertops! I didn’t see one of your videos doing this to countertops but if you’re looking for your next project, I would LOVE seeing your expertise applied to that process! Do you recommend using the same paint and process for countertops? I’ve seen some videos where epoxy is used to seal the counters but it has yellowed over time. I absolutely don’t want that!! I’m at home a lot more now because I’m going through cancer treatment but I would really like to update my kitchen in whatever small ways I can. Thanks for sharing these incredibly helpful videos!
Sounds like you are not letting your treatments slow you down 💪🏻 I'm slowly adding my videos to UA-cam, but YES I do have a written tutorial for painting granite counters NO EPOXY (use for laminate too!). I didn't want to used an epoxy either because it's not forgiving if you make a mistake or want to change. Here's the tutorial on my website: porchdaydreamer.com/paint-granite-counters-like-marble/
This is so inspiring and SO beautiful 😍 This is my first time watching one of your videos, big THANK YOU. Question: Can this technique be used on (ugly) granite countertops?
I'm SO glad this helped you! Actually, I painted my granite counter to look like marble, but not with this type of paint. For now, I have a written tutorial on how to paint your granite to look like marble and am working on the video next week! porchdaydreamer.com/paint-granite-counters-like-marble/
I was so gobsmacked by your video (which I watched just yesterday) that I ripped my guest bathroom apart today, much to my husbands dismay!😬I spent HOURS getting the tub surround thoroughly cleaned and sanded. But then I read your very detailed web page on this tutorial and noticed that you said the paint won't work if it is a fiberglass surround, only tile. UH OH! I have a cultured marble surround, which if I understand correctly is a mixture of fiberglass and limestone. But it's very rigid - not like fiberglass that can flex (which is probably why your method would not be recommended for fiberglass tubs/inserts). So now I'm stuck. I really want to do the faux marble technique and use the exact products you mentioned (although I do have and love Kilz Adhesion Bonding Primer rather than the Valspar primer), but I'm concerned about longevity. We are selling the house in a month and I don't want to have any backlash from new homeowners. I did purchase the Rustoleum Tub Tile epoxy kit and I'm willing to just go that route and forgo the marbling if that's the only thing that would work. Your advice is greatly appreciated! I've scoured the internet and very few folks address this topic to the degree that you do. You are truly an expert and I value your opinion. ☺
Oh darn! I'm going to film a video "before you decide to paint your shower" based on this. So THANK YOU for asking this question. Your only option is to do the Tub & Tile kit, which will be great! But sadly, no faux marbling can be done with it. Good luck and you're moving so you won't have to live with it too long 😁
this was an ok tutorial i guess. but what you kind of forgot one of the most important steps. what you did to prep it. i happen to know from personal experience that without proper prep it will peel right off regardless of what kind of paint you use.
Looks so nice
Thanks so much! 😁
I love this!! You have given me an idea to not have to tear out my tile❤❤❤❤❤
Yay! That’s why I came up with this plan to paint. It buys TIME for sure. It’s been over 2 years and still perfect.
@@porchdaydreamer how often is this shower used?
So talented 👌👌👌👌

What type of paint? Latex, acrylic? Glaze? Epoxy? Primer?
Linked in the description and covered in the video.

Yes, prep is key. This is a comprehensive video that includes cleaning and prepping your shower before painting.
