Several comments here mention the burrito pillow, saying that it is easier to make than the pillows shown here in Donna's video. Good luck with finding a YT video tutorial on burrito pillows that matches the quality of this video by Donna. I watched several out of curiosity, and I chose ones with high viewer numbers. All of them were a MESS. Jordan Fabrics is the gold standard, not only for quilts, but also for the occasional accessory projects they feature.
Because of your previous pillow cover videos, my grandsons, 9 and 11, each made a quilted pillow using the back envelope version for their mom for mother's day. They chose their own fabrics from Grandma's stash and sewed every stitch with love and precision. They love the creativity of sewing.
My mother taught me how to do French seams. She used them when making our pajamas. It's a good thing she never minded me watching her cook and sew. I learned so very much from her.
Hi, Donna! I just want to thank you for always taking a couple minutes to explain your fabric and quilt design choices to those of us who are always learning something new. I haven't seen any other quilting tutorials that do that. A step above & beyond!
I have said this before but going to say again. Thank you Donna Jordan for your superb tutorials. I have now lost count of how many pillowcase I have made but still like to refresh myself with your video
These are great. A quilting friend of mine gave us 2 Christmas pillow cases as a gift in a fun Christmas flannel fabric. A terrific, quick gift for anyone and at Christmas, who cares if they match your bed or not--it's just fun to have them on the bed during the holiday season. I look forward to getting them out each year and I always think of my friend when I see them.
I love the way you Donna demonstrate on how to make everything. You give written directions, besides step by step sewing directions. I can make these pillowcases by these directions you gave. Thank you so much.
This was such a helpful video. Thank you so much, Donna, for showing the various options. I got the quilt done many months ago for a couple, but have been stuck on the pillow shame
Been watching your videos since last three days, after I discovered your channel. Got addicted and hooked. Tempted to do a quilt. Thanks. Your instructions are simple to follow. You are a great teacher.
I’m making my granddaughter a pillow (#2 in the video). I watched a number of videos on UA-cam and, like always, yours met my needs. Great job! Thanks.
Great Tutorial! It gives me ideas to make pillowcases to store the quilts in. Using the leftover fabric from the quilt for the pillowcases it will identify which quilt is in the pillowcase. These pillowcases can become pillow shams when the quilts are in use.
I introduced my granddaughter to sewing by teaching her to make a pillowcase. She had a lot of fun that day and made two zebra fabric cases to take to college with her.
I loved shopping with you today. Actually, I like it when you walk through the store so I can see all the things that you sell. I don't like the walks through the parking lot too much, today's wasn't too bad. I liked the drive to the shop. Your neighborhoods are beautiful. 👍💜🌞🌵
I’ve been watching pillow making videos for a couple of days now and this one is the best and most informative one I have seen! This video makes my imagination soar! Thank you!
When I make a quilt I always try and make pillowcases to match. I enjoy your tutorials Because there are always a few good tips. Even us old timers can use reminders. Haha
You are so clever. People don't know that you are teaching them a French seam. I made a pillow using a John Deer panel and French seams. Panel is from the 90s. Fun!!
I've seen many videos on how to make a pillow case and yours is by far the most helpful. I live in Corvallis, OR and desire to visit your shop. When I meet someone, thru my job, who lives near or around Grants Pass, I tell them about Jordan Fabrics.
Wow...I think the complete opposite. This video was the most time consuming and so much more work than any of the other pillow case tutorials that I’ve seen.
Thank you so much! I love your mini classses. Should you make some table runner tutorials for the different seasons. I know your super busy, but they make great gifts. Thanks in advance. You guys rock !
When I made a pillow sham using leftover blocks, I quilted it first using white flannel as a backing. No need for batting or lining. It’s all in one! Then sew the rest of the pillow sham.
I'm one of those wait till the last minute type people who begin a wedding quilt 2 weeks before the wedding. Of course, it hasn't been quilted by the time of the wedding, so I like to make matching pillow shams to go with it. I can whip them up quickly the day before the wedding! These are what the bride and groom will open, so they know what's coming next. Seems to make them happy.
Great tutorial. Learned alot. Love the way you pay attention to detail and show how you are doing it. Thank You for Sharing 😊 Really loved the last pillow..
Donna you taught me some wonderful ways to finish up a bedroom makeover that i am in the middle of completing...thank you so much as your techniques are always so smart and handy...i love the fabrics that you chose...
Hi Donna, It’s Mercy from Monterey, Ca, it was a great pleasure to meet you today, you are so gracious. I loved your retail store, and I am so glad that I was able to stop by and see it for myself, with all those wonderful quilts I saw you make on UA-cam, all on display in your store, what a height light it was for me. thank your for taking the time to meet me and chat with me, it’s the best part of my fort time tripe to Oregon. I looked forward to your next UA-cam.
I LOVE your videos!!!!! Keep making them. You inspire me and you have shown me so many options. Thank you! I have also ordered a few of your kits and fabrics. BEST kits I have ever purchased
Love these... especially the pillow shams made with “extra” blocks from the quilt itself. Genius! Thanks again for sharing all your tips & techniques, Donna & team ! ~Diana K., Hamilton ON (Canada)
All three pillowcase look great! When I use left over blocks I put batting between the top and lining just to give it the same look as the quilting on the quilt. Of course I never allow anyone to sleep on them LOL
She doesn't call it a french seam but it is the same thing. This may be a simpler method from the burrito pillow case. The end result looks similar. Thanks for the new ideas and I love your color combinations.
I think you need to try the burrito style pillowcase....every seam is hidden. So much easier . I made 50 for Christmas presents this year and some for Ryan’s Cases; a charity for kids with cancer.
I made my granddaughter 12 pillowcases when she was a pre-schooler. Each month's fabric represented something from that particular month: Dec., Christmas fabric, etc. She has now finished her first year of college and still uses them on her bed at home.
Nice tutorial as always! I got inspired to make pillows for my good friends for Christmas. Just purchased some beautiful fabrics from Jordan Fabrics. Thank you!
Salutes to you n to your creativity. .....i can't even imagine how can you do this incredible work so easily n smoothly. ...love you work. Wish i could able to do this sort of work😐😐😐
Those bolts are heavy & bulky!! Good thing they have so much real estate in their store that there’s room for the serious fabric shoppers. One day I will make the road trek to Grants Pass, Oregon, I hope
Wonderful examples to inspire us. Thanks. How about a demo with a kids ' pillow attached to a quilt? Quillow? How to measure kid and what to add for good length. Or a bed roll?
I include one (long) pillow and pillow case when sewing a doll/teddy bear quilt. My niece & nephew explained that their toy friends always want to share.
This is the BEST channel, I love the way you explain the choices of fabric choices. That is the most difficult thing for me. As soon as I get enough courage to make a small lap quilt, I know the BEST place to buy a precut kit “Jordan Fabrics” . Once again thanks to your and your family for such an informative and FUN channel. One more thing what is the best beginners kit? ✂️✂️✂️❤️
Joan Cook why don’t you begin with a quilted pillow sham! Look at some of Donna’s videos and whatever seems most intuitive to you, make enough blocks for a sham or table topper and start!
By beginner kit do you mean tools to use? A good pair of scissors, a cutting mat that is medium sized and a long ruler. Add in a rotary cutter and that will get you started
Olá Donna Jordan, estou amando seus vídeos, suas explicação são maravilhosas estou apaixonada por suas técnicas, parabéns pelo seu trabalho, obrigada por compartilhar seus conhecimento. Wonderful Job
I use directional fabric all the time. You just need 1.25 yards and open/fold it the other way. Then trim it to size. I use burrito/hot dog/the tube method & French seams. But there's more than one way to skin a cat. Cute designs!
Great tutorial. When making pillow shams using fabric with a large pattern, should the pattern on the sham line up with the pattern on the coverlet/bedspread please?
Is that the machine you make your quilts on? I'm thinking of getting one. I make all my quilts on a little featherweight, even the free motion quilting up to queen size and it gets difficult. I love all the space your machine has!
Hello Donna, I love this tutorial on making pillowcases. But I've been scouring the internet, or UA-cam. Looking for a good tutorial on travel pillowcases. Well I haven't found any that compared even close to your video you have here as far as quality. So I'm wondering would you be able to reply to me with the cutting requirements for a travel pillow? I've saved this previous video to be able to make wonderful pillow cases. But I really need to make some travel pillow cases, if you could do this. I sure would appreciate it. Thanks again for all your great videos hoping to hear from you soon.

A French seam we were taught this in the 1960s in sewing classes at school, Hi from Tasmania Australia!
Me too in the 1970's in home economic classes. I now use them a few times in my bag making at #beyondawesomebags
Because of your previous pillow cover videos, my grandsons, 9 and 11, each made a quilted pillow using the back envelope version for their mom for mother's day. They chose their own fabrics from Grandma's stash and sewed every stitch with love and precision. They love the creativity of sewing.
Good job Grandma! Teach them young and they will be self sufficient young gentlemen, and some young lady will owe you a bunch!
❤
Love ❤️ your instructions. Making pillow cases for Christmas presents.

Love, love this recipe!! Thank you so much for sharing. This recipe has been shared to so many of my family and friends.
Donna, you are a fantastic teacher and so generous with your time and free patterns. I learned a lot and appreciate the free stuff. Thank you.

This indeed was a happy video! Thanks and hope you had a nice Mother's Day!
I like to watch this one over and over because the second one is the one I like to make for special pillowcases as gifts. Thank you.
I am amazed by these pillows cases. That you I need to make my grandchildren some of these. Thank you for the videos. God.bless you and your family
A few years ago I did pillow case for every holiday and gave them to all my family they loved them
This was such a helpful video. Thank you so much, Donna, for showing the various options. I got the quilt done many months ago for a couple, but have been stuck on the pillow shame

You are so clever. People don't know that you are teaching them a French seam. I made a pillow using a John Deer panel and French seams. Panel is from the 90s. Fun!!
Donna, you and Mat are both so talented. Thanks for the great tutorials. I sure wish I had all that room to work.

Love the dot fabric and the back turned out almost better than the front! Gorgeous!
So cute how your flat head pins make "hair" on your pin cushion. Nice instructions, well made video. Thanks!
So very nice results. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I love your mini classses. Should you make some table runner tutorials for the different seasons. I know your super busy, but they make great gifts. Thanks in advance. You guys rock !

This is so nice, the french seam is always ideal on a pillow case...Thanks, for this video, nice and useful...
Fabulous. Now every quilt gets a pillow case! WooHoo!!!

Addicted! Field trip coming soon!
Hi Donna,
Thanks so much for this. By far the clearest and easiest to follow, and it's great to have options for the easily intimidated 😂
All three pillowcase look great! When I use left over blocks I put batting between the top and lining just to give it the same look as the quilting on the quilt. Of course I never allow anyone to sleep on them LOL
This is such a great tutorial. Thank you!
Love the quilt pillow. I needed to see that today. I will be making one and you make it look so easy. Thank you.

You make this look so easy. I would love to try this some day!!!!
Excellent ideas, especially for those extra blocks we sometimes have left over, love all of them.

Way-ta-go 👍👍shopping carts in your ‘full-of-temptations’ quilt store, brilliant!. 🤩🐢
Ruth Maxwell I agree! A shopping cart is hard core.
Those bolts are heavy & bulky!! Good thing they have so much real estate in their store that there’s room for the serious fabric shoppers. One day I will make the road trek to Grants Pass, Oregon, I hope
You are amazing! thank you for sharing your sewing skills :D
Look up “Burrito pillowcase” as a method to hide all the seams😃 love all of your videos!!!
Wonderful examples to inspire us. Thanks. How about a demo with a kids ' pillow attached to a quilt? Quillow? How to measure kid and what to add for good length. Or a bed roll?
Thanks Donna. You gave me great ideas for using x-tras block to make pillow shams with.. Again great work
I love you video's. They are always great
اتعلمت منك أشياء كثيرة في الخياطة .....شكرا جزيلا علي الشرح الوافي التعليمي.......

Donna, please do western fabric quilt soon.
I have been waiting for this video for a long time. Thanks Donna
Great tutorial. When making pillow shams using fabric with a large pattern, should the pattern on the sham line up with the pattern on the coverlet/bedspread please?
It is a matter of personal preference. I try to have them line up if possible.
Great video and a fantastic idea

As always, a fantastic tutorial that was so easy to follow and understand. Thank you!
You finger press so well! It hurts my fingers lol. Maybe I need to start getting my nails done? Lol
I take breaks and try not to do too much at a time!
I would to thank you for Moda clipboard It really handy and I love your videos they give great idea thank you again
