God Bless Amy Dominguez and all the people that donated!
Thank you to all who helped this lady.
That was so nice and caring of that neighbor to do that for her. Imagine living in a home and all the people you once neighbored either moved or died off. Being in a home for 70 years, you bet she has some stories to tell and it's cheaper for her to remain in her home than to start over.
They have probably saved her life . Bad wiring is waiting to kill . Thank You Jesus Christ for miracles for this person ❤️
Everybody needs good neighbours and generous givers,,,, thank you to all who helped this elderly lady. ❤️
God bless this lady, the neighbor and everyone who helped. It’s nice to see there are still good people in this world
What an angel!
I live in a house that is 130 year old house……. and about 70% of a remodel done… Just sitting here but it’s better than being homeless
Bless all who help!
While this is a difficult and unfortunate situation, it’s not the fault of the power company, nor their responsibility. I have no love for the other ways the big companies take advantage, but if you’re a homeowner, you have to update things every so often. As an electrician’s wife and also mother to an electrician, I hear horror stories about old wiring and methods of wiring and the dangers they present, including electrocution and fires, which can be catastrophic. Codes are updated regularly to make houses safer for good reason, and it’s time this woman had some help fixing her house.
you dont know jack shit
While I feel sorry for what she’s dealing with, the power company is usually not responsible for internal home wiring. That’s like saying the water company needs to fix your plumbing after a deep freeze. This should be covered by homeowners insurance.
I'd bet most elderly people in the USA can't afford homeowners insurance! !
@@mariantreber8055 I’m not saying this is a good situation. I’m merely pointing out that it is wrong to place blame on the utility company. The first step to solving a problem is getting an accurate view of reality.
Those electric services after they were accepted into service should be full responsibility of centerpoint. Not sure why they are requesting that much money. Probably they need to trench, put new cable underground, bring wires up the pole and connect in her old panel. That's it. It doesn't cost 10k. It is not easy job to do, but with proper tools, experience, materials, - quite easy job. We don't have here Chicago-style codes, where everything should be top notch in a rigid metal conduits underground.
That house needs more work than just the wiring.
Hop to it player
What about insurance?
Once the house is paid off, you don`t need insurance....good luck without it.
I have insurance and a 3 yo roof. I’ll have to pay $2,500 for a new roof after the tornado in Temple and m a disabled lil ol lady. And it’s not the best insurance I could afford, it’s the best Homeowners insurance available.
@@denisekoltys3019 it called deductble
Same thing that happened to my grandparents but they knew not to call because they would say the same thing about bring it up to code she just has to file a handy man to help her.
Let's hope she actually gets that money.
You could also get her a generator in the meantime. What is she doing for food. ? If she has no power, she has no working fridge.
tshafter you could do something? Be the change you want to see don’t put it on someone else
WHERES her kids? grandkids? THEY should b looking after her!! why is she living alone in that house? or is she refusing to go live elsewhere, with relatives or in a retirement home where she can b cared for and have a great social life again!
Texas 🙄
Sorry Granny, Ukraine needs that money.
My Ukrainian gf is waiting for me to send her Google play cards. They need it more
She knows better sounds like she's mooching her way through the ordeal.
Who hurt you?
@@raeraebadfingers it's called grow up and take care of your own responsibilities oh wait she is so no excuse.
@@thomasrodriguez3176 yep she knew better than to conjure up some bad weather and ruin her house totally
It's called mother nature for a reason.
@@thomasrodriguez3176 you're just one of THOSE people, I see now
Doesn't she have any FAMILY? I mean... I get it... most people don't prepare adequately for their old age--and she probably thought she'd be dead by now anyway. But maybe she shouldn't be living in that house by herself if she can't' afford to maintain the property. What if a tree had fallen directly on her house... then what? The community has to buy her a new house?
Also, maybe Centerpoint Energy--which makes over a BILLION dollars in profit per year--should be required by the State to set aside some of their BILLIONS to help out financially in situations like this. Just think how much money this woman has paid to the power company over the years... wouldn't it be nice if they would give a little of that back sometimes?
If you have a home, it is your responsibility to maintain it. Not Centerpoint's. Don't put the blame on Centerpoint.
They did give it back....in the form of electricity.
Perhaps you should look into the cost of assisted living. If her home is paid off, which is likely at this point, living there is cheaper and more secure than a rental or assisted living. That does not mean she has sufficient income for maintenance. Her SS is based on past earnings, which were much lower then. Many seniors are subsisting on a very thin margin. Many people do not have family, particularly at that age, as the others have predeceased them.
@@armaletalia3254 I literally said that in my comment dumbass.
@@spankyssurprise1361 Nah. Only about 10 of 15% of your bill is for the electricity itself... most of it is overhead and profit.
