There was a lot of resistance fighters and they wanted to make sure they were easily recognized

Notice the heart on the helmet in the picture, that makes them 502 parachute infantry regiment of the 101st

@@jacobpitts6846 They wore American flags for much the same reason XXX Corps painted white stars on their tanks, and all the planes had white and black stripes on the wings and fuselage.. battlefield recognition.
Not that US paratroopers could really be confused with German Grenadiers... But hey, I'm sure it helped a bit at some points... Probably.

No, but he got shot in the back prior to Taking The Farm in Chapter 8. Sam makes a full recovery at Campaign ending but resents Matt over the Allen/Garnett/Leggett cover-up and vows never to fight with Baker again. His four-time failure to make Sergeant rank leaves him with a bad attitude. Other than that he is a good soldier.

It's a bit confusing when you play the mission, but the final cutscene makes it clear he's totally fine at the end of the game... Physically.
I'm actually not too sure why they even had him get shot in the first place if he wasn't going to have any kind of permanent injury.

Horrible over the top franchise with terrible character models...those wooden faces trying to be all emotional ending up looking like puppets.😸
