Can't believe how quick all this is coming together, def. one of my favorite channels. Should do an engine bay detail video when it's time, stoked for whats coming.
This is a awesome series! I love your approach on things. I’ve owned 5 e30s currently daily is a 88is I would have pulled the motor and trans as one. It would have saved you a lot of time and a lot easier I get to everything! Keep it up!!!!
Really love your videos! my only dislike is your music, but if thats all then your doing pretty good, you also have great taste in cars. well done sir.
Is that a single mass or dual mass flywheel? There are conflicting information about the original flywheel installed on E30. I have been trying to diagnose the clunking noise from my bell housing. Thanks!!
This is a great question, and honestly I had the same concern with my car. I had seen the conflicting information out there about dual mass/single mass flywheels used in E30s. My car ended up having the single mass flywheel. If my memory serves correctly, it was the early 325e's that had the dual mass flywheel, not the 325i's.
Thanks! Yeah, those seats are terrible. I haven't had any luck finding good replacements locally (Kansas City). I might have to go the recovering route on the ones I have. Either way, it won't be cheap.
I bought the Phoenix Systems V-5 off Amazon for about $50. The reviews are so-so on it, but I haven't had any real issues with it. I think it would work great for your application.
Great video again. I am trying to tighten my transmission output flange collar nut. Were you able to tighten it to 125 lbf⋅ft by just putting the transmission in gear? I tried put the transmission in 1st or reverse when I tried to torque it down to spec. However, it still cannot keep the output shaft from spinning. Thanks in advance.
You know, I couldn't get it to 125 ft/lb either. I ran it as high as I could (90-100 ft/lb I think) and then punched in the lock washer. I feel that was adequate as the splines are the ones taking the load, not the nut.
@@PracticalEnthusiastThanks for sharing. I thought my engine compression was too low to hold the shaft still. I eventually torqued the collar nut down to 125 lbf-ft by inserting two bolts into the output flange and wedging a long wrench between them to stop the output shaft from spinning. I pray that it will not leak and I will never do it again. PS I used anaerobic gasket maker. It is really great to know someone is going through the same E30 journey.
I'm at about $3200 in parts right now I think. I'm keeping a spreadsheet. Not all those parts have been shown in the videos yet though. I was hoping to keep the total spend, including purchase price ($1800), at around $5k. We'll see!
I put the video setting at half speed so I can kinda watch what he is doing. Makes him sound like he is on Ludes while the video can be twice as long... I don't watch the whole thing at that speed.

I got my e30 running thanks to videos like this!! Better then the bentley
One of the best E30 series I've watched
Always a good turning point putting things back into the car.
Keep the vids coming man! Enjoying the progress. Can’t wait to see it on the road again!

Nice little collection of RC's too. Nice!
Thanks! I went on a bit of a late '90s Kyosho nitro R/C collecting binge last year. Need to get those out more often!
Props on doing all of this on your own! You make it look simple
Looking good, real good. Great job.
You make the tips of the exhaust nice and shiny.
love this series! long live the E30!
Great work! Looking forward to the timing belt and water pump :)
Awesome work today!
You're a beast! This is coming along nicely...and fast!
Well done, it's really coming together.

Good job
Awesome job, great video! Keep it up!
Hey could you link parts in description to help me finish my rebuild ? Also your videos are the most helpful. Very simple explaining

Toilet paper trick is much better than the greased bread I've seen other places haha
Both work, both are messy!
Awesome content as usual man! Hopefully you can find some OEM seats to replace those
hideous seats that are in there right now.

@@PracticalEnthusiast try to join some E30 pages on facebook in your area. That's where I find all my parts! The seats will definitely be out there.
@@CalypsoBotter I'll give that a try, thanks!
What reverse bleeder did you use? I gotta replace the fluid on my Forester and thought this was nice. Thanks and keep up the work.

It would be cool if you could list the part numbers for the parts you installed in the video.
Hello! How can I get the screws for the part where the transmission supports are located for the BMW 325e automatic?
where did you find instructions for installing clutch ie composite throw out bearing not needing lube sachs website I could not find info thxs Doug
Did you bleed the clutch slave last?
Amazing!

Hey so I have a 1984 325e It’s got a dampener on it how do I get it off I watch do you install something like it without a dampener
Love the E30 content! Keep up the good work! Edit: maybe do a steering wheel repair?
It's on the list! Granted, somewhat far down on the list.
Do you recall the hex size for the transmission drain plug ?
No I don't, sorry. I don't plan on getting back under there anytime soon :(
What’s your running bill to refresh a E30 with stock components?

Okay, hope that you maintain the spending budget. Looking forward to what's next in the refresh series.
can all of these fixes be done the same way for a 1991?
Absolutely
@@PracticalEnthusiast thanks for getting back to me! i fixed my slave cylinder today w no experience

I have some fluid projects coming up, would it be possible for to you drop a link or the name of that bleeding tool ?
Sure - I've updated the description with a link to the bleeder tool.
very important to clean the pressure plate also lol I made that mistake

Didn't even show how to install the shift linkage. It was just on fast forward on that part
