Thank you for taking the time and posting this video review. Very informative. I just booked this cruise for July 2017. Can't wait, especially since watching this.
What an amazing journey and so informative. Thank you for broadcasting and doing such an amazing job. I felt as though I was on the voyage with you. The hallmark of excellence which has convinced me and I have booked to travel with Viking on a Caribbean cruise in March. Thank you once again.
Thank you so much for your comments. The Viking Star and her sister ships are fantastic! You can see all my trip videos at ua-cam.com/play/PLVHhVmKMYIwzv_oHVudjP-QzyaRPVvIgh.html
Really enjoyed your video! My wife and I were on this same cruise! You had a panning shot in the first Manfreti's (sp?) visit and we were sitting next to you. We had a wonderful time and watching this really brought back great memories. My wife and I will be back onboard this ship for the West Indies trip the winter. Thanks for the memories from the trip. You put a lot of time into producing this video and it shows. Excellent work!
Thanks so much for the kind words. I guess I should have had you sign a release. We're in Alaska right now -we'll be taking a cruise on the Silver Shadow in a few days. Bon voyage.
This is a really good video, a really good account of the cruise and great descrptions of the ship and the food a great virtual journey. thanks for sharing
This is a wonderful video, very well documented. I originally thought that a 2 hour video would be too long to sit through but my partner and I watched it through to the end and was sad it was over! It was like we were on the Cruise with you. Beautiful video and beautiful ship . We are now looking forward to booking a trip on these Viking Ocean ships! Thanks for the video !
Mahalo tfor your videos! I just discovered your channel as I'm looking into a multi-generational cruise for my family and parents to do... I love that you've taken such a geat log of all your adventures for us ;-)
Thanks for your comments. This is a link to all our trip videos - should keep you busy for hours! :-) ua-cam.com/play/PLVHhVmKMYIwzv_oHVudjP-QzyaRPVvIgh.html
Really enjoyed your video. My wife and I are booked on this cruise May 15th 2016 and are really looking forward to it. We booked a Penthouse Veranda suite on the 5th deck and will be staying two nights in Stockholm prior to the cruise departure.
+Gary Jensen Thanks for the comments. I know you'll enjoy it. The food, and wine and beer with lunch and dinner were excellent. The included excursions were also great. Let me know how you enjoyed it when you return.
Thank you for sharing your holiday video. I really enjoyed watching it. It gave me a really good idea what it's like cruising on a large ship. I liked seeing your various delicious meals. Thanks. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure.
Thank you for your comments. I really enjoy putting these videos together almost as much as the trip itself! Here are some more of our adventure videos: ua-cam.com/play/PLVHhVmKMYIwzv_oHVudjP-QzyaRPVvIgh.html
ob, Thanks for a very informative video. I will be cruising on the "Sky" in April and I really enjoyed the restaurant tours on ship. The food looks delicious and the ship tour was nice. Terry Fuchs
The Star was probably the nicest ship we've ever been on; the food was excellent, the staterooms, public rooms, and everything about it was fantastic. Be sure to go into the snow room - there's no extra charge. You can see all my other trip videos at ua-cam.com/play/PLVHhVmKMYIwzv_oHVudjP-QzyaRPVvIgh.html
Leaving in a few days for our Cruise on the Viking Star. After seeing your video, I think I don't have to bring my camera. Really enjoyed your video. But one question. Below when asked "would you say it's worth the money" you have two answers. "No- from the Washington DC area," and Expensive, but worth it." Could you explain why two different answers.
I''m not sure what I said or why. But having been on many cruises I think the Star was well worth it. We always upgrade to business class air, and go for better staterooms/suites, so it's expensive. But well worth it. Hope you have a fantastic time, and don't get sick as we did.
Thank you so much for your video! Was all the food that you showed in your video like in 5:30, 17:45, 28:30 is already included in your ticket price? No extra charge?
On the Viking Star and all its ocean ships, there is no extra charge for any of the restaurants. The number of reservations you can make depends on your class of stateroom. We had a Jr. Suite; we were able to make three reservations at each of the two specialty restaurants. But even with the lowest suite category, which doesn't allow for advance reservations at the two specialty restaurants, the main restaurant was fantastic. (I believe with the lowest category suite, you can make reservations at the specialty restaurant, but not in advance, meaning that if there's a table available, you can get in. And most nights there were tables available.)
I am thinking about booking the Viking Star for the Caribbean Indies for 11 nights sailing out of San Juan Puerto Rico. The main concern is I am in my mid 50's and there is no club for dancing which I do enjoy on cruises. Also, I really like the pool areas, nothing for children which is a very BIG PLUS with me. But is this ship for the mature folks in their mid 60's and up? Thanks for sharing and Great Video
+The Good Life Pretty much an over 50's crowd, and not the party ship Carnival, etc. would be. The shows are ok, but not huge reviews. There's no casino - the owner insisted on that. There is dancing in Torshavn, an intimate club. We didn't go in there, but you can see it and other areas at www.vikingcruises.com/content/ocean-star-tour/start.html#.Vxe5kjArKUk - hope this helps you decide.
They did charge for the show, but it was not expensive, and, of course, included transportation and an escort to and from the event. So worth it. And, of course, there was a charge to take pictures or video, but minimal. If you're interested, here's a longer version of the video I took of the show. ua-cam.com/video/QvqT-IMMJMM/v-deo.html
Wow....that's a classy boat! I guess if I ever take a cruise, it'll be on something like the Viking Star. So much nicer than the drunken riff-raff orgies you see on some of those other cruise lines.
Bob,My wife and I enjoyed your video. We are taking the same cruise in June. What video camera did you use?And more importantly what video editing software did you use to make this video. You do a very professional job. Thanks in Advance,Ron
+rcnelson50 I have two Sony cameras. both in the $900 range, but almost any HD camera will work for you. Make sure you have a battery capable of powering the camera for a whole day. The editing software is CyberLink Power Director, which sells for under $100. It is capable of unlimited tracks, all kinds of special effects, including green screen, and so much more. www.cyberlink.com/ Here's a video I did a couple of weeks ago, using my two cameras, plus another person's two cameras (both a lot less expensive than mine), while I was playing tuba: ua-cam.com/video/tjyZrn9RdhU/v-deo.html - it shows some of the capability of the editing program. Thanks for the nice comments, and enjoy the cruise.

Thank you very much. I saw it, yes, it is a dance floor.
Did the Russian dancers entertainment cost extra?

Wow, looks great
just I can't afford it
Finally, did the cruise go to Iceland?
The Iceland stay was an extension offered by Viking. Since the flights were scheduled on Icelandair by Viking, the extension was a reasonable add-on.

How did you enjoy the cruise?
Any review from Denmark, Aalborg?
It is a beautiful place.
I really want to go on this, would you say it's worth the money?
Also, are you Icelandic? I was in Reykjavik in April, and I must say, it was one of the best trips I've ever been on.
No - from the Washington, DC area.
Expensive, but worth it.
It was one of the best trips we've done. Expensive, but worth it!
