- So the kids got a new go kart and were spinning more than moving so I removed the 5 hp engine and down sized to a harbor freight tools 3 hp engine. The results were amazing and they love it.

People don't believe it but they are very good engine's. I have done used 3 of them on go karts. Built another one today for a buddy of mine with the same engine and runs great!

I'm building one of these right now on a 2000s jegs catalog kart for my soon to be 6 year old step daughter my 20 year old son road the 5 horse brig's into the ground blew it up years ago go power sports makes a linkage set up for these old kart so you can do the 79cc predator also you can build the motor my son has one on a mini bike that is almost 7 horses with custom fly wheel ported polished head decked the head and valves for more compression larger valve spring a mikuni carb his little dootle bug runs about 35 mph with that tiny motor

What size is your drive sprocket, I didn’t the same swap and it will not hardly go up a small incline

If you are asking about the internals of the engine it could be no oil, or just worn out and needed a rebuild.
how did you record this? Gopro on the hand strap?
Well I had it in my hand for most of the video then on a tripod stand. When I was mocking the engine I have a gopro head strap I use. amzn.to/3uMVpFl

Got some questions for you if you dont mind. I bought the same motor. I have issues where the engine runs fine, but they hit the gas and go no where. Where did you buy your clutch assembly? I think mine might be shit. It has no take off and my kids are 50 pounds tops.

@@CoyoteChris yeah i got.mine off amazon, but no luck with movement. I an thinking it is not getting enough hp maybe rpm is too low.
@@mfer5044 yeah I’m not sure what could cause it unless you got a bad clutch.
@@mfer5044 I wouldn't even mess with a clutch, torque converter is the way to go, no clutch to burn up and you have low end torque and then high speed power when it gets going and back down to lower torque as the engine and speed requires, it all happens automatically.
i hear that the 3 hp predator dont have enough power? i am thinking buying one but i don't know yet . What are your reviews about the 3hp predator ? It have enough power ?
I guess it all depends on the size of the rider and what kind of riding you do but my kids weight between 40 & 90lb and it pulls them around great. The tire still spins some but not as much as the 5hp did. I weight like 190lb and it pulls me around but it does struggle going up hill with me. Hope that helps!

For a 79cc predator go on amazon and look up "5/8 bore clutch" for a 212cc look up 3/4 bore clutch
how fast does it go now
It is definitely slower on the takeoff then the 5hp engine was but the top speed is the same. I’m in the process of installing a solid axle and I may have to go back to the 5hp motor.

what clutch?
I just purchased one off eBay, but i did end up cutting the clutch spring down so the engine to get a higher rpm before it engages.

79cc is not 3hp..
I know it’s 2hp but when you go to buy one from harbor freight it says 3hp. No need to confuse the people that don’t know. 🤘🏼
