Expansion | Why We Decided To Try Iaido (And Why You Should Too)

  • We partnered with the NY Budo Association to try iaido, a traditional Japanese martial art emphasizing being fully aware of your surroundings while also being able to quickly draw your sword in response to attacks. Why this? Two reasons
1.) Life is too short to do the same thing day after day, week after week, month after month. Challenging yourself to do something out of the ordinary is one of the most fulfilling things you can do in life.
2.) One of the forgotten benefits of martial arts is the principles that are taught. In iaido, you'll find discipline, focus, meeting obstacles head on, and an emphasis on being mentally prepared for anything. These principles can be game changers and when applied correctly, can help you get to the next level.

    I agree with you,
Iaido is a great martial art for training body and mind.
I train Iaido in Muso Shinden Ryu (Koryu style) and Buguei Shinto Ryu, theres great styles and schools to train self developement, self control, defense, offense and deplacement.
This 2 schools haves a philosophie based on Zen. I recomend you to try differents Koryu styles 😁

Wearing a wristwatch during a martial art training? Are you serious? What about keeping your smartphone in your pocket?

agree, however we are flexible with students - eventually they break the bond on their own
