Well, had a long reply typed out and YT pulled a Glitch McConnell and froze up. Easiest and cheapest option would be throw the RTT back on Termite and have a small tent to throw in the back. You could trial run that and see how it works. Best option (if you still camp a lot as a family) is RTT on the trailer and a clam shell on Termite. Either give you the option of just going together on a whim, or bring the kiddos with a bit more planning. The trailer option would be the ulitmate Grizwold's Wally World trip style and allow for the bike and extra gear to come along. Good luck on the Eclipse! Wife and I seen the one in 2017. It was one of the first excursions out with Radio Flyer shortly after I began working on it. A whopping 60 mile trek! Advice for the Eclipse: Make sure to find a nice, large open area to view it. There is a really cool 360 degree sunset effect that happens just before totality. You DON'T want to miss that. Best part, IMO. I have no advice about the kids. We don't have any! 🤣

Yeah I still want to have it on the roof for convenience but the trailer will give us more options to. We’re hoping the weather cooperates. We’ve already invested in the “special sunglasses” 😂

I've got my Smittybilt Gen 1 and I've so far only used it twice but I'm not 100% sold on it yet. Trying to load it, unload it, open it up and all that on my lifted Pathfinder was a pain the 2 times I set it up but could also be from inexperience lol. I like my Gazelle T4. Sets up way easier but we are a family of 6 so we needed room but I might sell mine RTT to get another Gazelle.

Yeah lifting it on and off can be a challenge. I have an idea I’m gonna try and implement soon for that. I’ve only ever heard good things about gazelle tents.

I get the whole AirBNB as after riding for a while last thing i wanna do is be setting up a tent. Let me just hop in the bed and sleep.
